And/or brings tears to your eyes. The whole purpose of music (and art in general) is to communicate and express not just an idea or a thought but an emotion or experience in a way that goes beyond words so that other people don't merely understand it intellectually but resonate with it almost viscerally. When a work of art inspires an emotional or even a physical reaction in someone (ideally, a reaction other than contempt!), it's done what it was designed to do -- and this piece has definitely done its job in terms of communicating the passage of time not only in terms of seasons but in terms of life as well as the apprehension which lurks beneath the awe we feel when we take time to consider the breadth of our individual experience.
It always reminds me of my mother telling me Japanese myths and fables when I was a child. The older I get, the more those memories seem to grow in vibrancy.

Actually he's been one of the most celebrated video game composers. And the only one to receive Grammy. So it's not that he's underappreciated. Well deserved I might say - in my book he's among the best. Few other composers can make me cry with just their music
@@HristoKolevMayvena I agree, there's only one composer alive I can think of that creates the same kind of feeling, and that's Karl Jenkins. (He wrote Adiemus, if you've not heard it, definitely worth a listen)
I’m in awe. Selecting haiku poems of the four seasons and enabling the listeners to view those scenes from a window frame is just a genius idea. The fact that you started from spring lyrics and finished in spring lyrics makes me think about the circulation of life and gives me a sense of Buddhism. You also inserted some words by a poet who eventually died from tuberculosis, wondering how many days are left for him, and it makes the peak of the song so powerful.
I hadn't heard of Christopher Tin until just now, despite hearing his work in the past. But boarding the Civ 6 hype train caused me to do some searching for the music, and Here I am. Best musical discovery in a long time.
Christopher Tin, you sir are what makes the gaming industry thrive. You deserve way more recognition and acknowledgement for the way you make people live through games or a story sung in words. Respect and keep that gift you have going!
Sogno di Volare brought me to this channel, and it was one of the best things that could ever happen. One day, when the world is united, Christopher Tin will compose the anthem of humanity!

it's been years since i last heard this, and it's just as fantastic. you know a song's good when you remember it despite not hearing it for such a long time
The part of winter... Such a solemn sound. Every season in this song, really makes you feel. You could close your eyes and feel the melody, you'd visualize the scenery of this masterpiece. The japanese haikus spanning across time, such a marvelous harmony. True God of Music, Orchestra and Harmony, He's Christopher Tin.
At least for me, there is an incredible amount of depth and significance in this piece. It speaks not just of the cycle of the seasons but of the cycle of life and the vital importance of appreciating whatever moments of beauty we can find in it however fleeting -- because as the lyrics point out, our lives in the scheme of things are all too short and none of us know for certain how much time we might have left.
Christopher Tin, you make music that truly breaks the language barrier and reaches a person's soul. Your music makes my skin crawl every time, awesome!
The way this song is composed and put together is absolute genius. The fact that it can convey the themes of the song to people who don't even understand the language is a testament to the universal power of music.
Holy crap I get instant chills as soon as the vocal kicks in... and the chills doesn't let up until the end of the video. Kudos, man. Now I know you make beautiful stuff--though, I wish I knew you sooner!
