Putting it out there again: Dredd (2012)'s Slo-Mo FX! It's a lot of basic slow-motion, but they tweak it with VFX to such a pleasing and iconic aesthetic that it DESERVES to be reacted to!
Yes! This shots are probably pretty simple in terms of execution but standsm out purely due to great art direction
Think they already did it way back
They already did a couple years ago I think.
YES! In fact the whole movie needs to be done. The effects in it are amazing.
Funny thing, Gavin Free did the slow motion shots in Dredd, and they know him and already called him on an episode to talk about his work on Sherlock Holmes.
what gets me in the breaking bad scene is the explosion itself. it's so realistic and raw, no intense fireballs or any of that stuff. just plain power and awesomeness
the door flying off is kinda cartoony to me, like they sped up the footage to make it faster kinda thing.
@@meangreen99 yea guess so, it made it look more powerful to me tho hahaha
That’s because it was real
@@meangreen99 It's not, it was a real practical explosion. You can find the making off of this scene with footage of the real explosion from different angles.
@@meangreen99 doors are heavy and explosives are very strong
I'd like to see you guys react to:
-Silent Hill (2006) - the otherworld transitions, and Monsters designs
-Sam Raimi's Spider man 1 and 3 (sandman effects, Venom and symbiote effects)
This one is more of a technical question, but in Spiderman No Way Home, they obviously reused footage of the lizard and Sandman from their original films. But they had different effects, which requires, I assume, the original footage that was caught on camera. Is it common practice to save raw footage for that long?
Edit: I can't believe I forgot this but also in Silent Hill there's a scene with dark Alessa hugging Rose and then just kinda "integrates" herself into her.
Especially since the monsters were practical effects and were guys in monster makeup.
@@EurydiceAllAlong I especially remember one which had his legs covered in green tights which were then cut off
Technically speaking that kind of effect can be done without the raw footage, but regardless it does look like they used said raw footage to achieve the best look possible. Film and video are rarely discarded for major productions nowadays and are almost always archived. The shot they used for Lizard wasn’t even in the original film it was an unused take from a different angle.
Silent Hill nurse dancing!!!
@@ParzivalTheThird Ok, but the shot where they used Sandman turning back to his human form was almost clearly the same one where in the original film his hand was turning to mud. I assume they'd had to use the raw footage for this, no? And that's from 2007 or even 2006, when it was filmed.
Yes!! I remember watching those scenes in the Witcher and praying you guys would break it down. My brain kept going “That’s CG! Wait, it’s not CG, no, that’s CG! Wait? That’s not CG?” Glad to finally have some closure 😂.
Corridor Crew should definitely react to The Chronicles of Narnia. Both the Disney (and Fox) films, but also the older BBC TV show that has some rather crazy effects.
BBC rendition needs a full episode for sure
Good Choice
I’m surprised that you haven’t covered the original Jumanji and Zathura, both have their ups and downs in terms of VFX, both are pretty cool
They did.
They did Jumanji, but I don't remember if they did Zarthura
@@ddevil4980 Yup, the did the robot part, don't know when but I remember seeing it
@@Vellcross yeah I remember them doing the stampede part of Jumanji also.
I was legit craving for a CGI react video right now. Thank you for making my Saturday!

Bro it's Monday
I watched a 25-minute feature about how they did the explosion scene in Breaking Bad, the practical effects alone are so impressive. Also they did _19 takes_ of the panning shot after Gus walks out of the room! That's how many it took before Vince was satisfied. And then, when he reviewed them without knowing which takes were which, that 19th take is the one he ended up choosing.
Just shows how perfectionism pays off!
Smart of him to make sure it was ambiguous so it wouldn't be a number bias. A similar principle has changed a lot of police protocol on showing witnesses pictures, from the original grid lineup to sequential one by one showings of a ton of people until and unless they were fully confident that a single image they focused on matched the person
For me that Nivellan (The Witcher) effect is so great due to the eyes being real, that ties it together and the performance so well.
I was 100% sure it was a prosthetic. It's just impressive.
@@mjrp07 It fooled me in the best way possible
The rug really tied the effect together.
I assumed the eyes were makeup and the nose down was cgi. I remember totally trying to figure it out when I was watching it for the first time
The lip movements didn't look right. His lips needed to form a momentary seal when he speaks a "p". That's not actually possible when you have adjacent exposed teeth (in this case going both up and down). Nivellen's lips don't conform around his teeth, and we expect to see that when he talks.
I realize it's a lot of work, but lips don't just go up and down when we talk. They are so agile that deaf people can tell what you are saying from looking at your lips! Watch Nivellen again -- you can't do that, his lips are too stiff. Human lips are more compliant, and we actively use our teeth to support them. People missing front teeth have speech impediments that you can hear.
There's another problem, which is that teeth can't be exposed all the time, because they'd dry out and then shatter. Water isn't enough -- dentin requires saliva to maintain toughness and mend microfractures. Even the big canines of a lion or tiger or the protruding lowers of a hippo are covered and kept wet by loose lips that fold over them nearly all the time. These long lips are pulled back when fighting or eating, leading to the characteristic wrinkles that we associate with fierceness.
Niko has that “I have a Newborn Baby and haven’t slept in three days” look to him. Congrats and hang in there bub, you’re a trooper
He's devasteted by that
new shitty Matrix movie
Hey man congrats your comment has been copied by a lot of bots on this video.
@@hater2764 that will definitely do it

I would LOVE for you guys to do a deep dive on the VFX for The Expanse, terrific show with some stellar production value. 🙏
I was just about to comment, this ide suggest looking at the ring gate explosions (season end of season 5 and 6), and some of the anti gravity liquid effects. also maybe the some season 1 effects as well as the weird creatures from season 6 and the proto molecule creature.
@@badwolverinex17 rightt?? and there's still so much more story to tell and they just ended it at season 6 😩
@@yoshiyoshiyoshi21 Totally agree it would be great to have more as there are 3 more books in the series. From what I can gather the story takes a leap 30 years into the future, so the current storyline with Holden, Amos, Naomi are at their natural conclusion. Think it was a case of going out on a high point for the actors too, but the creative team have said never say never to a return. 🙏
Best Amazon Prime original hands down
Yeah, the splat in S3 E7 would be great :D
I’ve been watching vfx artists react since day one! Crazy that there’s been 61 of them! Keep up the great work corridor!
I believe we were promise over a year ago now: Love, Death and Robots.
I have been waiting very patiently
I would love to see you guys do a multipart series looking at those! 😊
I haven’t thought about that show in a while, but they haven’t done an animators / vfx reacts to that one? Kinda weird, although it’s not the craziest one I’d like to see Zima Blue just cause it’s my favorite.
YESSSS
Phwooargh GREAT idea! Also… where's a Starship Troopers Special?
@@SauceCake0 LOVE to see them DIVE into that one! 😶
And a Hobbit Episode is also still missing.
Nivellen was SO well-done in that Witcher season 2 episode. Could’ve fooled me that it was all prosthetics, but nope, the whole face is CG. Now that’s some masterful VFX work that doesn’t overdo it while also allowing the actor to not be bothered by makeup and prosthetics for his facial performance. Also, Kristofer Hivju did it brilliantly. But man, is it weird to see him cleanly shaved after seeing him with a full beard for so long, lol
Agree, I read an interview with him when he had done a Swedish police drama and he jokingly said something about having it in his contract his character had to have a beard. 😁
I could have sworn the eyes were real.
8:07 'So, Breaking Bad is a movie...' Wren 2022.

Lol
Well, there is a movie set right after the end of the show.
I mean he's not technically wrong, there is a Breaking Bad movie.
@@heisenbergbad5375 he was referencing the show so he technically is wrong
I would love to see y’all discuss the hunger games! As the series progressed, the cgi became better and better. Additionally, much of the cgi was creating environments which were very stylized, and I would love to hear y’all discuss how to create convincing environments while keeping a specific style
The 2nd one was filmed partially at the Atlanta Beach, which was an artificial beach constructed for the 96 Olympics, to have the circular beach in the arena. The VFX in those shots is incredible, I think the only thing that isn't created is the beach itself. The entire background and I'm sure lots of the stuff in the water is CG.
I love how you all cover a wide range of movies and shows, not just one genre and not just one kind of reaction
The door explosion in Breaking Bad is so crunchy... I love it!
You can see the forces they used to get that
Please react to the Bumblebee movie Opening Scene, its such a Brilliaint scene. And i would love to see your thoughts on it, Everything in that scene is pretty insane, (the lightning, CGI, Explosions, Motions...)
100%, loved that Scene!
Oh god yes
I don't know why I haven't suggested that yet cause it's so good.
Yes, compare the bots from Bumblebee to the shitty Bayformers..
Ugh that scene looked sooo fake
Those first 5 minutes was better the the rest of the entire live action Transformers movie-verse
Ahhh, I'm so disappointed they didn't talk about the VFX that needed to be done to cover the track in Gus's last shot. They had to digitally replace the debris on the floor in order to cover the camera track. That was also a very impressive feat.
You guys should review Narnia. I’m amazed at how well the animal effects have held up for years.
Just rewatched Star Trek: First Contact. Still blown away by the introduction of the Borg Queen, would love to see you guys react to that.
I just watched the Enterprise swooping in to fight the Borg. It's still so good!
I just dropped by to recommend the Borg Queen's head attachment scene too. A very good effect in its time, and it still holds up after a quarter of a century!
I desperately want them to talk about Deep Space Nine S5E6 "Trials and Tribble-ations" The way they combined old footage and re-created sets to create a time travel story that seamlessly integrates stuff that actually happened on a prior show blows my mind every time.
@@Rock4896 such a good episode!
This, absolutely this please. Her intro was amazing, and that was 1996
This has to be one of the best youtube shows of them all. It's so interesting, entertaining and educational, to boot.
Many props and my best wishes to you all, Corridor Crew! 🙏
I'm ngl this series and the channel has really made me appreciate CGI and vfx and how much work goes into all of that, and most of all, what looks better and why and vice versa. You guys are awesome and I appreciate this so much
Having just binged both seasons of The Witcher, that effect especially sold me. That episode the only time I ever realized an effect was happening was the weird ghost girl going all Max Headroom
The whole time I was watching Nevallen, I was trying to figure out where prosthetics ended and CGI began. So once I saw a BTS video and learned that his whole face was CGI with mocap...I was even more impressed.
@@blitzgirl6522 I was so sold by the effect my mind didn't even slip to think how the effect was done
Can we see a react to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith opening space sequence? I still think it holds up really well even today. I remember watching that as a kid and just being mind blown with the opening of Anakin and ObiWan flying through the battle
Absolutely agree!
@Eldain ss Space combat is one thing the old Babylon 5 series did right, imo. :)
@Eldain ss here’s the thing: if you honestly think about 3-D space combat as it should be, it would look really, really strange.

@Eldain ss Not really. In certain cases yes, but in many others they are clearly using 3 dimensional tactics.
This is really becoming my favorite channel. As someone who loves movies, but doesn't really understand/know all of the logistics and nuance that goes into making projects, this channel adds a lot without being too technical. Much appreciated
I love when you guys get really technical, it's such a treat to listen to your expertise, ty ty ty tytytytytytytytyty
The special effects in Warehouse 13 is something that I have always loved, got a lot of charm and cheese to it. Would love to see you go over it.
I also enjoyed Warehouse 13! Also the show Sanctuary had a lot of good creature effects.
I’d really like to see you guys react to some of the Narnia movies from the early 2000s. They hold up surprisingly well in my opinion
Maybe I'm wrong but I think they did talk about Aslan in one of the earlier episodes.
@@ethai1 Maybe! I don’t remember. I would particularly like to see the Dawn Treader painting scene
Throwing it into the cosmos again.
Bunraku (2011) sports many big names and the aesthetic is of the charts. A criminally underated movie. The set, stunts, camera work. I would recommend it's version of the "Hallway scene"
Season 6 of 'The Expanse' has just finished and i personally think has some of the most gorgeous sci fi cgi for space combat etc and would love to see your guys take on sooo many shots in it
Some of the zero-g/spacewalk effects in particular would be good to look at, like Naomi's jump from the Chetzemoka at the end of Season 5, or Amos walking around the outside of the Roci early on in Season 6.
oh the expanse, pure physics porn
The books being my favorite sci-fi series ever, I have to say they CGI and effects in The Expanse are mind-blowing , especially for TV,
And Adam Savage might be the guy they're looking for as a special guest, since he spent some time during series production and even played a small cameo in one of the seasons :O

Oh my gosh! I just posted a comment about this and then happen to see this comment. Yes! I loved the show for the most part and still kinda pissed at Netflix for canceling the show, they did Jim Henson company and all the people who worked so passionately on the show dirty fr. The director and producer was told by Netflix the show was canceled 60 days after the show was released but were told not to say anything publicly for another few months from what I've heard.
I agree one added thing I didn’t notice immediately was the skeksis tongue being added with CG.
and they have a lot of behind the scenes footage!!
Greeting from Japan. I just started learning about VFX. And this series is very educational to me for what I should be careful of as a VFX artist. Keep up your good work!!
Congrats on the second kid Niko! It's crazy growing up along side you guys over the last 10 odd years. Take care :)
On the same lines as matrix, you guys should try out the matrix’s game! All the physics are amazing! There is also a few things I have noticed that need some work, like the crash physics, everything seems too light. But also a ton of amazing things, the green tint, the lighting, all of it is pretty cool!
Tbh I think that the crash physics are the best ever done, only complaint I have is that the car doors and stuff don’t fall off. Cars, when in high speed crash, do seem very light irl. Cars don’t weigh that much in the grand scheme of things when talking about 100‘s of miles per hour
Enter the Matrix or Path of Neo?
UE5 demo thing for the new matrix
I'd love if you did a direct comparison of analogous fight scenes from Matrix 1 and Resurrections, would probably fit Stuntmen React more though.
The fights in question - Neo vs Morpheus and Neo vs Smith (subway).
That's a great idea. That was my biggest issue with the new one, still loved it though.
Just Binged Severance and I could never skip the opening credits. It's so satisfying to watch and see clues about it the show. I would love to see an episode dedicated to well done CGI intros. ( Severance, Game of Thrones, Westworld, new Lord of the Rings....etc..) love every episode. Keep it up everyone!
This is a bit left of field, but I'd love to see you guys react to some in-game effects across different video games and break down how and why some effect feel good and others don't. Things like explosions, breaking glass, water effects, etc. Think that could be a really cool thing to look at!
Doesanyone have some specific examples? despite being a massive gaming nerd im drawing a blank of the top of my head.
@@kodaxmax I think of things like explosions and effects from the Killzone games, or some of the amazing shaders used in Half Life Alyx on full bottles of liquid. I'd love to see them go into details of why an explosion in one game feels so good and another in another game feels so limp (Mercenaries 1 vs Mercs 2 is a good comparison).
Explosions in games are usually simulated in real time and/or artists don't have the time or resources to be able to run complex explosion simulations in games. Its usually down to the technical limitation of a game (whereas a movie can be pre-rendered and edited on top of) and the hardware limits. A game made to run on a lower spec system or won't be able to have as complex particle systems as others, and smaller companies won't usually have the time and resources to develop new particle systems that look better. Lots of games companies also like to keep in-house techniques to themselves, so methods to make explosions can differ a lot I imagine. The VFX tech to make films and games, while similar in art, have very different tech requirements and considerations. Its hard to compare practises in films to games because of this.
@@ZavalasAgent this is all at least partially true, but is also irrelevant? An explosion in a game, regardless of the technical side of things has a final result and a "feel" to it. Two explosions may be simulated in exactly the same way in the same physics engine across two different games, but the artistry that goes into them (effects like particles, smoke and fire sprites, physics objects interacting with that effect, other smaller effects like dirt or shock waves, sounds, etc) can all be drastically different and affect how the end product feels.
@@xGamermonkeyx Yes and an explosion with all those things would require a lot more research and power behind it, unless it's stylised a certain way of course because that can have big effects on the final feel. My point is it is difficult to go into VFX in a game from a purely film understanding because it isn't all about the way the final product may look or sound, simulating in real time in 3D space is a lot different. Like how someone on a high end PC will have a much different experience to someone on a lower spec console for example. Whereas with a film it's one video. Games will usually have very strict budget on how detailed an effect can be, how many polygons can be used in a particle system, how many background Sims are occuring... Etc. There's just so much more to consider tbh that I think would be better for maybe a more gamedev perspective rather than purely one from movies. It's hard to explain what I mean but yeah xD
The black Hole 1979 has some OUTSTANDING practical effect for the time..Definitely a good one to check out.
Love it
I used to love that movie as a kid. It's surprisingly dark too.

I'm almost 65 and love what you guys do. A brief history, I was part of of a improv group in high school and eventually ended up in Second City Toronto. Back in the day we would volunteer at our local cable TV station to learn how it all works and then come in with our skits/material and film it ourselves. That was decades ago and during the past few years I've enjoyed your Saturday at noon drops and during Covid you have have inspired us to get creative again. My thanks (Hey I know you need the bucks and understood, some of us can't afford another internet cost but at least ya still give us the TH-cam)

It would be interesting for you to compare old and new Doctor Who VFX. Also look at the restoration work they did for old stories.
Would love to see a another breakdown of old practical effects.
I think there are cool, subtle effects in Wes Anderson films such as The French Dispatch that you could probably make a whole episode about.
For example in the French Dispatch:
1) the artist painting himself with the same actor in frame in three different places from three different angles
2) the waiter carrying a tray from the bottom floor to the top floor instantaneously appearing in one window after leaving another, but someone clearly in frame the entire time sweeping the stoop
I would love to see you guys react to the Expanse, the show's final episode just aired and it has one of the greatest cgi battles I've ever seen

Just re-watched the 1955 movie Tarantula! Its a very interesting old school sci-fi that has some interesting VFX!

Willow (1988). The whole movie is an interesting transition between analog and digital; but of course take your pick (the ILM morphing is of course amazing for it's time).
But I'm mostly impressed by the Brownies. Some of the composite shots are bad. But a lot of the shots are surprisingly well integrated.
Yes!! And they are making another one with Warwick Davis as Willow again!!
On a similar tone to the Matrix, you guys should check out Dark City and some of its city-warping effects. Look for the Director's Cut!
The Breaking Bad scene is what finally made me watch the show. I kept seeing the ending of each episode on recordings of other shows I was watching, but never watched the show because I could not see how a show about a Meth dealer could be good. Then I saw him walk out of a room, with half his face blown off, and I said "Okay... I have to see what leads up to this." I am so glad I finally watched the show.

I think the difference between the NPH bullet time versus the original bullet time, is that we're seeing things from NPH's perspective where he is the one moving (and perceiving) fast, instead of from Neo's perspective being slower observing something moving fast. So it does make some sense to look different.
Note, I haven't seen the movie.
Still really wanting an episode that includes sound design. Specifically designers who record their own sounds and sound effects as well as including composers in a video or too. I feel it would be an interesting video.
The show is about VFX, man. It won't include sound related things.
@@wowandrss VFX artists react to good and bad stunts? I just think a single episode including sound design would be entertaining and also encompass the entirety of film making as we’ve seen and learned so much from them about different aspects so far.
Those effects in that episode of the Witcher are the best effects in the whole series, in my opinion. That character was so well done. It seemed to go downhill from there, for me. And the Breaking Bad scene was some of the best filmmaking ever. Such a good reveal, and so brutal for TV. What a way to kill off the "big bad".
i love to see some 90's Star Trek stuff. specifically the TNG movies and the DS9 episode Trials and Tribblulations where they go and mess with a TOS episode.
Hey, dig what y’all do
I could never understand why in Little Shop of Horrors puppetry Audrey II’s puppetry seems so much more articulate than anything from the 80’s,kinda holds up nowadays too.
I’ve looked around, not a lot of info on this subject
I'm always so excited when a new episode comes out. You guys are great and I hope to receive a behind the back clap one day.
8:40 i remember watching this at my parents basement on our projector with my brother. We both looked at each other like "THIS is TV history.". Absolutelly brilliant.
I assumed the effect on Neil Patrick Harris was meant to be a specific reference to the original bullet dodge scene. In the original that had to use interpolated frames to fill in the gaps between the different cameras and it has a slight wobbly blur type effect. So when he said his new thing was called "bullet time" it seemed obvious to me that that was what they were going for. So for that reason I actually enjoyed the effect over all.
Thank you! I thought it was pretty obviously an intentional choice and not a mistake, I’m surprised these guys didn’t get that.
People please like this so we can get Corridor to see this
I think this scene is also referencing an earlier line of dialogue in the movie where a member of the focus groups specifically says they should do bullet time again. In the context of the whole movie taking old ideas and subverting them and making them different, this scene is then doing “bullet time” again. The same idea, different execution, so it’s not even trying to replicate the visuals of the first movie.
@@solharv7817 They got too used to shitting on VFX shots from movies they don't like for views that they forgot their craft
Yeah like they said, they've done this before. So it felt clearly intentional that it was so wildly different lol
i really liked the jankiness of the NPH slow-mo sequence. it was an affect i hadn't seen before and felt unique and jarring which i think was the intended result
It IS the intended result and Its so frustrating that they don't realize it. It's a stylized attempt at portraying latency in like an online video game. I think its super cool, and exactly what they were going for. They wanted to try something different than just re-doing an old effect that they already proved they could do perfectly, even back then.
@@retroradtacular The mismatched framerate is the intended part, the terrible rotoscoping, bad exposure and lighting is not the intended part. Unless the goal is to make it look like low budget cgi, in which case they succeeded.
The framerate is supposed to be different in the train scene because Neo is being affected by the red pill. We're seeing things from his perspective. The bullet time wouldn't look the same as the agents because the analyst isn't doing the exact same thing as the agents. He's not really moving faster, he's slowing down the matrix itself. That's why Neo and Trinity can understand him and why Neo is having such a hard time with it.
The movie was pure garbage...
@@ddevil4980 Yeah, I don't know why we're defending it. It's completely terrible and I think it's just offensive to the last films. It doesn't even look like a Matrix film anymore! It looks like some confused hollywood ****. None of the prior aesthetics. The Corridoor Crew were SPOT ON

I just watched 'The Electrical Life of Luis Wain' on Amazon. It uses CG in a very different way than most of what we see here, and made me wonder what you guys would consider the most *beautiful* VFX you've seen on film.
The NPH part looks like a weird effect i remember from seeing 90's movies on cable or antenna TV; CGI or CGI - enhanced footage always looked greener or more flat that the rest of the scene. I havent seen Matrix 4 yet, but in the scene on 5:30, Keanu's hand looks strange too.
I'm glad you did The Witcher scene. My dad and I were discussing it as we were watching it and I was trying to recall all my knowledge from watching you guys haha. I was able to see how the muscles around the mouth and cheeks were CG just based on its movement. Seemed somewhat soft and fluid. I guessed that the rest were make-up (not including the tusks of course).
I'd love to see you guys react to some more old school video effects. In particular:
- The Beast with Five Fingers (1946) --- there are floating hands in this film that I truly do not know how they did in 1946
- Big Trouble in Little China (1986) ---- so many vfx in this one with all the satirical kung fu and magic!

Wo-Ping didnt direct the action scenes is why.
i love how the guys really explain technical terms and what exactly is wrong and how it could've been done better
I’d love to see you react to some of the VFX in LOST. I’m talking about the clock/timer in the Hatch (Full CG), the boars(occasionally CG), and of course the smoke monster.
It’s definitely outdated and looks a bit janky, but it’s fun.
The effects work is great on the Breaking Bad Gus shot, but the building up takes it to another level. The reveal of him walking there with the good side of his face showing makes you think he survived. But then as you hear the shrieks of the nurses you see that he’s now missing face his face and one of the greatest villains I’ve seen goes out with a bang like none other.
The effects and character design in Jelly fish Eyes by Takashi Murakami are very cool despite the story lacking a great ending, would be very cool to see you guys take a look
Fun fact: They shot the scene with Gus 19 times because Vince Gilligan wasn't happy with how it was turning out. When he picked from a mix of all the takes not knowing how they were numbered, he chose the 19th one.
cool. sounds logical that the last one was done at last how it suposed to be. would be funnier if he picked the first one. which happens sometimes too
to be more exact: he said "YES this is it" on the 19th take and he was afraid he took that choice because everyone was tired and he just wanted to get it done, so he had all the 19 takes arranged in a blind order, re-analyzed all of them, blind picked the best one and it was the 19th, so he had self-confirmation of his skills. Takes a lot of courage to be ready to contradict yourself after 19 takes of THAT.
@@Galf506 Thanks!
The silent rage from sam during the matrix section was so painful to watch. I really felt for him, there was genuine grief and pain there for a movie he may of been looking forward to seeing, and knowing that when he went to see it he wouldn't be able to NOT see all those mistakes.
Poor man
movie sucks anyway so he wouldn’t be happy either way
@@samsimms4403 the movie was excellent actually. But most people didn't get the first 3 so I'm not surprised they didn't get the 4th either and got upset when it wasn't more of the same like they wanted.
wtf
@@Vivi2372 I thoroughly enjoyed all three of the original movies but Resurrections really just fell flat in my opinion. The lighting, soundtrack, choreography, script... everything felt off.
@@Ghostblock that's its biggest sin IMO, even if you dislike or like the story, the movie deserved to have a distinct visual style like its predecessor's had.
Real simple but fun vfx shot! The impaled zombie in Shaun of the Dead. The timing with the wind up camera is great.
Definitely wanna see The Expanse since the show just ended! The assault scene in the final episode, and the asteroid impact scene from Season 5 would be awesome scenes to cover!
I’d be super interested to see you guys talk about some of the effects from Hausu. They’re definitely janky due to how old they are, but something makes them all so charming.
Given that it just wrapped up this week, I'd *love* to see your take on "The Expanse" TV series. (FWIW, Adam Savage is an "Expanse" fan and even appeared in an episode or two, so he might have some cool insights.)
I would love to hear you talk about the Watchman series, specifically episode 6. The camera work and fades create such beautiful storytelling. The hanging would be specifically interesting to hear you talk about the mechanics, but there’s so much you could discuss in that episode.
I love how in the BREAKING BAD section they put a Spoiler warning when in the intro they actually spoiled it.
And in the thumbnail lmao. Sucks for anyone that is going through it.
I finished watching the Witcher yesterday. I was so confused about how cool the face looked that I came to your channel to see if you have talked about it, and you did 😎😎😎
Hopefully they actually make new seasons about the character the show is named after.
I’d love to see you guys take a look at The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021). It’s so fucking good and the visual effects are incredible.
Came here to say the exact same thing
overrated vsfx
@Henzo88 some sword fights
Unrelated but I'm currently reading Macbeth in my high school class. This comment just stood out to me. 👍
That gus scene, when I first saw it, gave me a heart attack. So convincing. So realistic.
The heart attack from me was knowing he *had* to be dead, and then seeing him walk out. Impossible! There's no *way* he could've survived! But, if anyone *could* have, it would be Gus... And there was nothing else in the show to suggest that kind of VFX budget. It was absolutely amazing filmmaking.
It's been years and I'm still kinda mad I got that shot spoiled before I was able to see the episode.
One of the things I love about the "inside the Matrix" scenes in all Matrix movies is that any genuine VFX issue can just be explained away as either a glitch in the Matrix or that because it IS a computer simulation, it is overcompensating on one thing, which explains why something else isn't at clear/smooth as it could be (a perfect example is the Burly Brawl from the second film, there are so many characters "on screen" at one time, the system struggles to cope, hence the rubbery movements and less than perfect textures on a lot of the characters).
Ha ha I just replied to someone else with this exact theory and example
It's also a great excuse for bad VFX, but whatever. To each their own.
@@DeathBringer769 That... that is literally what I said.
Spartacus series has a phenomenal set of over-the-top slow-mo shots. Anything you guys could break down?
Can you PLEASE react to Ghostbusters Afterlife’s CGI? The Harold Ramis Ghost looks so good!
Harold RAMIS. Come on!
Just met this channel and all its content its super interesting and fun.
Good job and keep on going please!
Regards from Buenos Aires.
Would love to see a reaction to the Live Action cinematic from Titanfall 2, I feel like it does a good job with mixing characters of massive size disparities and making the movement feel right.
Such a good video , I'm glad Nicco pointed out the Matrix lack of quality. You guys are awesome.
It didn't really lack quality though. At best their critiques were mild nitpicks that 99.9% of people will never notice, and which frankly weren't that bad even if you know what you're looking at. And fight choreography aside the movie was excellent.
If you guys haven’t reviewed it already, I’d love to see a breakdown of Dark Shadows (2012).
Some nutty CG in that movie, I think the final fight would be interesting to see you cover.
Oh yes. Please do!
Man, Giancarlo is such an underrated actor...
First thing I remember seeing him in was Trading Places as one of the jailbirds in with Eddie Murphy's character. Man's got some good roles.
My pennies worth: in the matrix stuff, I felt Keanu’s arm should be casting a shadow on Neil’s face as he moved around it, and when the guy got thrown off the train, objects in motion yada yada so why does he sweep sharply to the left? Even with air friction he should pretty much continue in a forward arc unless hitting a passing object or the ground. He’s not a balloon.
well if its from someone on the trains persepective he would sweep sharply to the left, if you put your arm out the window the air friction will pull your hand back. same thing, just the train is probably going faster. if the perspective is from someone on the ground, they will still clearly be moving forward though, albeit decelerating in comparison to the train due to air friction etc.
Can I just say that the opening shot of the train was so bad. I can't believe how often I thought to myself "well that's cgi, couldn't they've done that better?" while watching the movie. Even the pidgeon was cgi
@@socks2441 I don’t really disagree, it’s just kind of off, almost a right angle, like he had forward momentum away from the train, but then when far enough away suddenly he joined the background motion without actually touching anything, and I don’t think real objects work that way.
@@fabienneselinger3899 I haven’t seen it, and I’m afraid from clips I’ve seen and what friends report I’m inclined to wait until it hits TV. Again.
And you’re not the first to suggest that the effects looked better in the 90s.
@@Lumibear. it's a high speed train. If you stick your arm out of a moving car at highway speeds you'd feel quite a bit of force from air resistance. Now imagine that but your entire body and a lot more resistance because the human body isn't remotely aerodynamic. With no force continuing to push you forward and maintain that speed you'd lose what you have pretty fast. But you wouldn't need to lose it all to have the effects seen in the movie. Just slowing to 30-50km/h below the speed of the train would see it rapidly leaving you in the dust.
I love how in The Witcher they used the CGI to try and make Nirvellen practical instead of trying to make him look hyper-realistic. They don't try and trick the audience into believing that it's flesh and bone, but try and trick the audience into believing that it's plastic and circuits.
Still shitty content tho
@@gabrielfidelli Nah it's a good show.
