  • A research project by the Haute école de musique de Genève - Neuchâtel (HEM) under the direction of Pierre Goy.
This video showcases the mechanism of a fortepiano by Johann Andreas Stein, whose facsimile was crafted by Matthieu Vion's workshop, based on several instruments all built in 1783 and preserved in museums and a private collection. The use of a high-speed camera and the creation of sonograms help to understand the particular sound characteristics of 18th-century historical keyboard instruments.
Featuring: Pierre Goy, Matthieu Vion, Jean-Claude Battault
    Sonogram recording: Mariette Iung
High-speed camera operator: Philippe Bergerard - Avispeed
Piece performed by Pierre Goy: Fantasia No. 3 in D Minor, K. 397, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
