  • This video Tutorial will be very helpful to our Engineering students.
In This Video we learn "Development of Sheet Metal Tray".
Development of Surface of a Solid: Development of surface of a solid / object means the unrolling or unfolding of all surfacecs of the solid / object on a plane.
Engineering Application: It is used for Sheet metal work to fabricate a sheet metal product such as metal boxes, storage tanks, buckets, packing boxes, chimneys, hoppers, trays, bent pipes, air-conditioning ducts etc.
Lateral Surface of a Solid: The layout of only the sides of the solid / object without its top or bottom is called the Lateral Surface.
Methods of Development of Lateral Surfaces of Solids:-
    1) Parallel Line Development.
( It is used for developing Cubes, Prisms and Cylinders.)
    2) Radial Line Development.
( It is employed for Pyramids and Cones)
    3) Approximate Development.
( This method is employed for double-curved surfaces like Spheres.)
    4)Triangulation Development.
( This method is uded for developing transition pieces.)
Frustum of Solid: When prisms / cylinders / pyramids / cones are cut such that the cut surfaces are perpendicular to their axes, the cut portion of the solids with the base are called as Frustum of Solids.
Truncated of Solid: When prisms / cylinders / pyramids / cones are cut such that the cut surfaces are inclined to their axes, the cut portion of the solids with the base are called as Frustum of Solids.
Step by step operations shown in a very easy way.
