Goats are perfect little critters ! My buddy has 3 and 2 of them are indoor pets . They are as sweet as any dog or cat and get along well with their cat siblings . They are little cuddle bugs . Very smart too
Goats have been demonized and largely eliminated from the Mediterranean, but their loss there is largely to blame for the resurgence of summer fires in this region. Bring back goats, I say. Well done.
Thank you, God, for goats. My goats NEVER messed with the ornamentals around the house. They DON'T eat EVERYTHING. We fed them animal cookie snacks once a day. Females loved the chocolate ones. Males didn't care for chocolate cookies;-)
Goats on the Go, I love you guys... hard work, awesome service business.... no one ever talks about the fact that the goats are not just cutting weeds, they are digesting and recycling nutrients to the earth in the best possible way. The southeastern US is being overrun by kudzu... they need more goats! California forests need goats! Washington and Oregon are overrun with blackberries, need goats!
I'm relieved to hear him mention savanna. Trees less densely spread is all that means, and grasslands do better with partial shade. Livestock need shade and the trees benefit from manure. A pasture with scattered trees all over it is best so the livestock move, not camping too long in one spot. Pasture is younger and sweeter further into summer with some shade time, not lignified so soon
Nice guy and very good idea using the goats to help clear areas of dense brush or noxious weeds on public and private land without needing to use poisonous herbicides, special equipment or a lot of manpower I never like the idea of using animals for work but this one I don't mind because it benefits both people and animals. Goats get to eat fresh nature and in return we get fresh clean environment without worrying about pesticides and chemicals.
Goats are browsers, not grazers! Get it right City Slickers! Browsers (goats, deer) glean leaves, bark and stems from plants, while grazers (cows, sheep) clip vegetation at or near ground level. Kings Mountain State Park (here in upstate SC) hires goats as a sustainable way to clear underbrush and reduce wildfires. I am seriously considering starting a small herd of my own with Kiko (meat) goats. Kikos originated in New Zealand, are disease and parasite resistant and can thrive on browsing and mineral supplements here in the temperate Mid-Atlantic states.
Here in Canada we use them to great effect in the city, they love to eat weeds and the redistribute nutrients as they go as well so its a win win thats for sure.
Are there things they "don't" eat? Example: In a lot of areas cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) is choking out native plants, growing through & around patches of rare native plants. Would there be a way to see if they would leave those alone, or is it pretty much "if it's there they'll eat it"?
@@shammydammy2610 cheatgrass is destroying so much. No one even knows about it. I've tried contacting the local fire authority, see if anything can be done just on the basis of fire hazard. They think I'm nuts. Called Code Enforcement, I said how about pushing the deadline for weed abatement to a point when the plant is still green & won't drop seeds? Nope.
We've used goats milk to treat asthma here in Ireland for decades. Grass only goats are no good, it has to be the multi grazers li!e these goats......new business idea? You're welcome. 😊
Goats don't graze they browse get it right. If you want to control grasses you use sheep or cattle they grass if you want to control weeds and brush you use goats they browse. The combination of sheep and goat will do an excellent job.
No pesticides, loud machines & repair parts, no workmans comp, health insurance, salaries, labor union negotiations.... etc. No one wants to eat goat meat. Period! Stick to the land management fees & hold in-house school field trips husband for $6 to 9 bucks a child. Total tim I'm a teacher and I would love to take my children to visit and learn about animal husbandry.
Did anyone mention climate emergency.? One of the comments " we get a good defoliation " unquote this seems a contradiction when carbon sequestration and the planting of a large number of trees is the order of the day in order to sequester carbon. Rewilding with native ungulates seems ethical. Be vegan. Be kind. Be well Namaste
Here's an idea for Kudzu. Use prison inmates - start a goat farm at the prison then inmates take the goats to eat the Kudzu. After goats eat up an area then other inmates have to dig up all of the roots and make herbs, starch, breading, kudzu potatoes etc. And others can pick and package the leaves and package for salad type food. Of course, make sure they don't pick poison ivy. Also, prepare the vines for making baskets and/or rope then send to a factory for that purpose and train the inmates to make everything out of this Kudzu then when they get out of prison they have a free resource for making money - even offer company contracts for those whom did a good job upon their release from prison.

Fabulous! Definitely the best way to go, I love non-invasive, non-poisonous solutions!
A win-win solution....and so adorable. I would love to have them come to my yard anytime if I can pet them too.
Goat manures are great fertilizer.

Goats are amazing animals, love em👍
I have five of my own😎
Wounderful, thank you!

Are ticks and fleas a problem for the goats?
We live too far away. Can you suggest breeds that would be good for brush clearing
I LOOOOVE GOATS! THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!!
what about all the ticks the goats pick up?
They are so cute too. I want 2.
does the goat stomach break down the seeds or do they just spread them more ?
A similar video I watched today indicated the goat's teeth cut and grind, leaving less that one percent of seed fertile.
It has more to do with the way they chew up the seeds ...plants do not spread
@@lev-tovzohar9318 A goat's digestive tract destroys the majority of seeds...
I love watching goats eat.
So,beautiful, I,love,them😍😎🙄🦓🦓🤩😁
Do goats eat buckthorn?
Look up "Charlotte Kudzu" for 2 songs about kudzu. My favorite is "Kudzilla" and "Kudzu Covered Land" is a close second!

Great story love it
Goats are great. Get rid of bad weeds, feed goats and they are fun to watch. Go goats !!
Goats love California's chaparral that burns so bad. Certainly they need more contract graziers like this team
Much better approach for land management.
Here in Canada we use them to great effect in the city, they love to eat weeds and the redistribute nutrients as they go as well so its a win win thats for sure.
The cost difference was a wash? Sounds like more people need to think goats first and get some competition happening.
Goats making America Great Again !
I want to get into goat business but what type of goats are there
they
Lucas. Google it and do a little research.
Anything you can get
Well...there are two basic types of goats, meat or dairy. For this, you'd want meat goats.
Well I'm in the business now doing good with a small herd of kikos
do goats eat kudzu?

There are a few things they won't eat. Cheatgrass isn't one of them. Unfortunately, they will eat a lot of rare native plants as well.

@Nicholas TV Not much.
@Nicholas TV I live in Central Mexico, write, sew and play video games.
@Nicholas TV I don't.

Great story but I don't really buy into their claim that "free browse" is more expensive than feeding "on site".
Good info!
Goats quiet too, and don’t pollute.
goats and humans belong togheter - goats and humans grew up togheter - thousands of years in the making
I love this . Less chemical thank s

It’s relaxing to see them eat away.

What about the goat farts?
Goat Bar B Q is delicious if it's cooked right.
At the end of the day, are these goats milked? That will be an income stream.
Its a win win situation for everybody. Free food for goats free milk free meat free money
I love goaaaaaats

Speak for yourself. Goat is good eating. BBQ cabrito, yum.
And they say the saliva of the Goats make the plants and weeds not able to sprout at once or take time to grow back again.

I love goats! Natures weed wackers!
God designed the animals to serve humanity. Chemists want us to forget that.
Goat meats are delicious too.
I love this video it's so cute. But, I bet if you had witches on the go they would get rid of it faster than the goats.

I seen a video of a guy in the Carolina's who has a herd of goats he hires out to eat kudzu.
And you fertilize the soil with their pooh. Best way to treat environment. :)
Goats are browsers, and prefer eating above knee height. After everything above the knees is eliminated, it doesn't take long to mow it too the dirt.
