It was weird how hardcore became more metallic in the late 80's. Leaving the 'hardcore punk' bands to just be called punk. But it's metal w/o clean vocals & palm muting. Then the early 00's, hardcore became even more metal when bands started ripping off Iron Maiden/Judas Priest-style leads.
