I’m so curious about what’s being said and it seems like a fascinating topic, but I am having a really hard hearing him and wonder if there is a way to get a clearer sound?

Important reminds that books used to have large marginals side. If you look at Bates photos of Bible, the same. Cinema uses letterboxing for a rwason, so reading books with extra large marginal is essential.

Your eyes are not becoming Weak; they are becoming muscle bound. Close one eye when you read; this reduces eye strain by half. Wear a pair of 1.5 plus lense reading glasses with the blue light blocker. If you don't use the Blue Light Blocker when reading from a light emitting device such as a computer screen or phone one can lose their depth perception.

How is the use of central vision and fusion affected when wearing pinhole glasses?
If, say, each eye is looking through a different pinhole on each side of the glasses, can this cause an asymmetrical focus when they converge?
    Thanks for your content!

Biggest apprehension I get when vision clears, is I feel nude on stage when outside, lol. I have to be more extroverted again, or at least more focused & “noise cancelling” of outside distractions. I’m certain I’ll naturalize with it with more exposure. 🥰

I also had to learn how to balance out my introversion with some more extroversion in the process of improving my vision naturally. I felt "naked" without my glasses. When my vision was still blurry, it was almost like that old "peek-a-boo" game, where it was like, if I can't see people, people can't see me. But when I would get a clear flash and I COULD see people, I felt like all of a sudden people could see me. So I realized there was a connection between me seeing clearly and me being okay with being seen by the world.

@@NathanOxenfeld yes exactly! seeing more = being seen more. A sort of rebirth & therefore need for some integration. Wearing a new life, as it were. It is truly our natural optimal state, so all is need is acclimation...
Then more life & willful living🥳😌🙏

Hi Nathan, first of all I wish you a good recovery after your accident. I follow you from Italy. I'm 45 years old, hyperopia since birth, but now I'm starting to have problems seeing up close. However, no problems from afar or reading text on the monitor. With my smartphone and a book, yes. I see well during the day, but less so in the evening. I kindly ask you: 1) Is being outdoors and applying sunning and palming a valid choice? 2) I notice that if I wear sunglasses my vision gets worse. 3) Can I keep the lights on for reading in the evening or do they hurt my eyesight?
    4) What Bates tips do you recommend that are most useful for my situation?
    5) I have pinhole glasses, how many minutes daily?
Thank you with all my heart❤

Hi, I also have hyperopia. Nathan has an episode with Meir Schneider.
Meir has a routine in his book.
      - Sunning (10 mins daily).
      - Peripheral exercises (20 mins daily) and beware of periphery throughtout the day.
      - Palming (10 mins), look far into distance (20 mins) and close-up work (20 mins).
I know this a lot, so you can play around with the time. Peripheral training, distance and palming are quite relaxing.

    • @NathanOxenfeld
      @NathanOxenfeld  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1) Yes, try "sun sandwiches" where you alternate between sunning for 5-10 seconds and palming for 5-10 seconds for a total of 1-5 minutes, or whatever feels most comfortable.
      2) Sunning will help decrease the need for sunglasses. You can always use a hat if you need.
      3) Depends on what type of lights. But yes, using a reading lamp at night is okay to illuminate your reading material. Maybe just don't use it right up to the point of going to bed, because the light might disrupt your circadian rhythms a bit and delay your natural melatonin production.
      4) In addition to the relaxation practices you mentioned, I would also focus on some of the fusion practices that stimulate accommodation (like the Brock String or other activities that involve convergence)
      5) Only wear them for however long feels comfortable, then take them off for a little while before putting them back on. It's not about replacing one crutch with another crutch. It's about using them for specific times and purposes to learn good vision habits like central fixation that you can maintain when you have the pinhole glasses off.
      Have fun!

Hi Nathan. What do you think about EndMyopia method?
Personally, i think that it's sorta the same as the Bates method in the sense that people relax their eyes while doing "active focus". Ironically, even Jake Steiner, who bashes on the Bates method, almost got the core idea of the method, that you should not try hard to see, see the blurry letters what they are and treat that like a meditation (even though he doesn't like that "hippie stuff") :)
But i suppose that they may slow down the progress by still wearing glasses, though weaker than their prescription. They don't recommend to ditch the glasses completely because, they claim. your brain can adapt to blur, and hence your vision get sorta lazy and don't want to improve. But could one just be aware of whether he sees an object clearly or blurry and check his vision (and also practice focusing on letters relaxed way) with Snellen test card?
My theory is that EndMyopia method certainly helps to improve vision via active focus, and still wearing glasses with lower prescription allow people to stay relaxed (probably because when they take off the glasses they see everything blurry and strain a lot), and when they try to focus on distant objects while being relaxed, they can see it clearly (what they call "active focus").
Also it seems to me that they try to stay one leg on the scientific consensus on theory of accomodation, and the other on the field of non convential method of vision restoration (even though prescribing glasses and lasik surgery can't be considered "restoration" at all!). They hold on the theory that accomodation is produced only due to activity of ciliary muscle and that the lenght of the eye ball is fixed, but to the extend that it can lenghten to the point when the vision is restored to 20/20. But they don't wanna to have anything in common with the Bates method, because it contradicts the modern scientific consensus and hence they consider it bullshit even not reserching the topic properly.

Please note that this group has a very hard time getting people to improve better than -1 and eliminating astigmatism.
