Hi Brittany, I'm in zone 6b (Southern Ontario, Canada). It's possible to grow perennials in planters as long as we choose cold hardy plants and mulch them well for the winter. My perennial arrangement is only in year 1. This coming winter will tell. But I've had success before with strawberries, creeping jenny and creeping phlox in planters. Lavender and this particular BloomStruck hydrangea are also very cold hardy. Best wishes and happy gardening!

We used 4x4 cedar posts to build the garden beds. Cedar turns to a gray color very quickly. To keep the color we used UV protection oil on the wood. This video showed a brief moment of how we built it: th-cam.com/video/s5EZwHoGF3c/w-d-xo.html
Thank you! The garden beds were built on gravel foundation. Building it on concrete is possible, but you would have to think about where the water would drain. Also, it's generally advised to have at least 12-18 inches of soil. Our raised beds are about 12in deep, but we dug about 6 into the gravel base, so we have about 18 inches of soil.
