- Hello everyone, and welcome back to SimplyThinking! Today, we're tackling the question: Is going to university worth it?
Traditionally, we follow GSCEs, A-Levels, and then university, or SATs followed by college in the U.S. This path has been seen as essential for success. But is it still the best route today?
Does happiness truly come from education? While a degree can lead to good jobs, the job market is changing rapidly. Skills in demand now might not be as relevant soon.
We don’t need to follow the same social norms as our parents and grandparents. More people have degrees now, so their value has changed. Many successful people didn’t follow the traditional path-they built skills and gained experience in other ways.
University still has value: deep knowledge, critical thinking, and networking. For careers like medicine or engineering, a degree is essential. But consider your goals, career needs, and the financial aspect before deciding.
Ultimately, the path to success is personal. It doesn’t have to follow traditional routes. Find what works best for you.
Thanks for listening to SimplyThinking. Whether you choose university or another path, keep learning and growing. Until next time, take care and strive for small improvements.
