lived in Akron Ohio during the Quaker Oats days puff rice was shot from cannons you could hear the explosions all day.
we have that style of popping corn during the 70's, but no more now because popcorn variety is already avialble were easily popped by just roasting open air.
unlike before, ordinary corn were popped by pressure cooker like what we see in the video

What is added is usually saccharin. The reason is that if sugars is used, it burns.
After frying, starch syrup is used to make Gangjeong. It is made by fermenting rice, called Yeot.
