I do remember when I moved here to Springfield Missouri from California (Bakersfield). When we topped the hills of Branson Missouri. I had never even seen so much Beautiful green in my life.Trees, grass, The flowers on the side of the road was gorgeous. I had never seen so much beauty. In nature in my life. At the age of 21 I came to Missouri from California. I am now 68 years old and have lived here this long. I love Missouri. When I first came here there was no crime. I’m still at a safer place than other places are.But I do believe I will stay. This is my home. There is much much worse places to live.

Bakersfield is a dry, dusty place. For greenery in California one has to be north of Sacramento. The drawback, of course, is the high humidity and it is still hot north of Sacramento.

Ur right. He’s just kind of making fun of the greater Missouri dialect by putting the A on the end of it. Obviously we don’t speak that way in STL, especially the city. A certain political party in control is responsible for the poorest states...I won't mention which one. All a person needs to do is Google a list of the poorest states in order of degree of poverty & then Google a list of which states are run by which political party. It will be clearly evident which party should be avoided voting for at the ballot box like the plague.

I lived in the Midwest in my youth and west coast as a teenager and young adult, spent several years living in the Carolinas & traveling throughout that region and to the SE parts of the US. Haven’t really traveled extensively in & around the NE so can’t really comment on that region as well as others. All in all, I’ve lived in 7 US states, and traveled to 43...typically spending just a couple days in each but have spent up to several months in over 12 states I didn’t formally reside in, so I think I have a decent perspective.
West coast generally for me is the least friendly states I’ve lived in or traveled through, from my experience.
The further I travel from west coast to the interior states the more friendly people seem to appear to strangers.
West coast don’t expect someone to acknowledge you if you smile or wave at them..and god forbid if your vehicle breaks down, don’t expect anyone to stop... but it is a slim possibility. Generally, people will try to avoid eye contact and ignore you. There can be casual conversation between strangers but again most attempt to ignore you and are uncomfortable. Midwest, generally are friendly with the northern half of the Midwest the friendliest for me in the US.
East coast as a whole is much more responsive and friendlier than the West, then I’d say the south, then southern Midwest, then northern Midwest being the most open & friendly. Again the entire west coast generally is the least friendly on average between strangers.

I like it here in Missouri. My job let me travel the world. Yet when it came to retire I came back. Just to put a little perspective on this, I was playing cards with friends at his home. A homeless dude stuck his head in the window and demanded money. This was in San Diego, Ca. in the late 80's. Near downtown San Diego, those bright city lights can blind you to the realities there. San Diego was a great place to live back then, according to all the "experts".

I missed this video when it first came out because I was stopped for the night at a hotel in (of all places) Missouri! We stayed in a town called Festus, which is an outer-outer-ring suburb of St. Louis to the south. I've never seen it mentioned in any of your videos, so I wasn't sure what to expect of this town, but I heard they have cheap gasoline, and there was a variety of places to eat around the hotel, so we made this our stopping point. We were surprised at how polite everyone was, and even stopped at a Walmart for some supplies before hitting the road the next morning. I usually dread Walmart, but the store was clean and orderly, and everyone was polite. Sharp contrast to the New Orleans area. Only thing is, we rolled in around 9:00 pm...on a Friday night...and every restaurant in town was already closed, except for Hardee's.

A lot of these places get around paying a full time wages and benefits by scheduling 32 hours a week. And then they want to feel like they own you even outside the workplace. I grew up in a really rural small town in Missouri & left for college in the mid 1990s. There were less than 9,000 people & you had to drive 45 minutes to get to a town with more than 20,000 people. It was 2 hours away from a legit major metro area. It was a great place to grow up. As kids, we'd walk all over town. No one's parents would think twice about letting us. Drugs were way in the shadows. No one who did them ever spoke about it. There was always someone you knew everywhere you went which made it difficult to get away with stuff. It was boring so once you hit highschool you were ready to leave.
When I was heading off to college, 3 of the biggest employers in the town closed down. When a majority of people with good jobs don't have those jobs anymore, every other business suffers from loss of customers. Shortly after the factories & state hospital closed, cooking meth became the new top employer. When I talk to anyone still living there, it sounds like the town is still in its nosedive. There are guards in the schools because fights & violence have become common. It's sad that kids don't get to enjoy the stuff we did without having to worry about real crime or shady people. It's just what happens when the main sources of economic growth leave a town. Really sad to see.

Yes ! Officially its pronounced Missouree. I was born and raised in North ST Louis. A lot of the area's you have spot on but, but not all of St. Louis is that bad. Ex. South County is a good area to live and the schools are great. It seems like the expansion is going west. So we left South County and moved 60 miles away to a small town Warrenton, Mo. We love it! it still has that small town feel . We have a fair selection of stores and restaurants and about 30 mins from all the shopping could could possibly need. We also have Barnes Jewish Hospital, one of the top 10 in the Country. The crime isn't bad, people are friendly and neighbors look out for one-another. You can see the stars at night and hear the birds in the day. But the schooling is poor. Our Kido is grown so no problem there. Fun Fact ! Disneyland was going to be in Missouri but the powers that be insisted they sell Anheuser-Busch Beer. That was the deal breaker. What we say about our weather is " " Missourians love it here and apparently it looks pretty good to the rich of the west. We have the 4 seasons , It's not on fire and we have rain, so many are buying homes here. Property value is going up fast. And of Course The World Famous ST. Louis Cardinals ! We couldn't ask for more !

I’ve lived in the surrounding St. Louis county my whole life, and both my mother and my wife grew up in the suburban areas of St. Louis. Unfortunately, a lot of what people say about the poorer parts are true. Our city is very gentrified, and you can tell as soon as you cross over to the poorer parts as if the sun shines brighter on one street than the other. You’ll be driving downtown near the Fabulous Fox theater and 3 blocks down you’ll see nothing but abandoned buildings, empty lots, and housing in disrepair until you cross another line into a wealthier part. And its no fault of the people living there, all of St. Louis county has this ring of wealthy county’s like, chesterfield and st Charles, surrounding the larger St. Louis areas. So even if you make it out of the city, you’re still in heavy poverty areas like Ferguson and Jennings. I love my city of Florissant, it’s not the most exciting or wealthy, but it’s got a very diverse population of people from all over, and you’re close enough to everything where it takes only 30 minutes to get anywhere you want. I’ve got a lot of pride in my heart for St. Louis MO, and I’d love to see the city thrive not only for the wealthy, but see the people who are struggling in the city have the ability to really get the break they need, and maybe then St. Louis won’t be just another City that used to have industry, and then fell apart as soon as it left.

🤣 Don’t knock what you haven’t tried!! Went to Lambert’s for Mother’s Day 2022 for the first time & had an absolute blast!! One thing you can say honestly about rural landmark restaurants is they serve up some fixin’s - so much so that you’ll never leave w/ an empty belly! Lambert’s was a BLAST; in addition to softball-sized, yummy, hot, fresh yeast rolls throwed at you, they also have people walking around w/ “pass arounds” (black-eyed peas, fried okra, stewed tomatoes w/ macaroni - all distinctly “Ozark”)!! The food was delicious and the staff fun and joyful. Please…don’t knock what you haven’t tried!!

Was born and raised here in the MO all the places I've traveled to and lived I'd still rather be here in the Midwest. One thing I've came to realize was it doesn't matter where you're at in this country, certain things aren't specific to one location. One thing I enjoy is the way MO tries to protect our natural born rights. Even knowing how shady the government as a whole is and the ones who actually control all aspects of the UNITED STATES and the game of commerce all their rules are set up for. I'd still rather be here when and if SHTF. What I don't get is how we supposedly can find a man hiding in cave in the middle of a Mountain range or buried somewhere in the middle of a dessert but can't stop all the drugs from crossing the boarder? Seems kinda off if you ask me. Or the fact that the US corporation military has been guarding the poppy fields in the middle east for over 2 decades, yet heroin is on the rise and has been as well. The government gets what it pays for. They don't make mistakes. Never an oops. Things are strategically planned years and years before. Through all aspects of the system. Missouri is one of the best states to be living off grid. One of the only places you can still get natural milk. Be free as you possibly can. How free is dependent on ones status and how deep they have gone to correct things on the private side. But what do I know. 🕉️

Springfield used to be a nice place to live. It was friendly, crime was almost nonexistent, everyone respected everyone else, their property and their lives...that is until Springfield decided to make itself a beacon to every homeless degenerate who showed up, gave them free room and board and a "helping christian hand" no questions asked. Once homeless people all over found this town to be the equivalent of a free meal ticket they came in droves, and most of them took advantage of the good our well-intentioned people tried to give, only to continue the behaviors that made them homeless in the first place which later burdened our social, police, Court and welfare systems. Then the word got out about the weak a55 police department, revolving doors at the jails and untapped drug market. Next thing you know all the $hitcago gangsters showed up to turn our once peaceful town in to a drug infested war zone. After Hurricane Katrina the New Orleans gangsters went to Little Rock and the Little Rock gangsters came here....and brought all their bu11$h1t, drama and mayhem with them. That is in some part why Springfield turned in to a $h@tpile. Now if you want to keep the personal property you worked hard for and/or avoid becoming a statistic you better nail it down to the ground, or put it in a safe, or just don't buy anything....maybe except for a .45 or an AR15 and LOTS of ammo! If there were ever a blueprint of how NOT to manage a town Springfield is it!!!! Lately I've been calling it Sphincterfield... because there's now way too many a$$h0les in what was once a clean respectful peaceful and pleasant place to live.

At louis is interesting. If you look back at its history, the folks running STL city back at the early part of the century when St Louis was a powerhouse city in the nation and gateway to the west, the planners wanted to separate themselves from the common folks from STL county. So this capped the city’s size which now in retrospect was a bad thing as it makes crime rates and other statistics look higher than they really are. The county on the other hand has grown and really become a place for people to live. As you can expect the city for the last couple decades has been trying to incorporate with the county. But the county wants nothing to do with it or the crime rates, lol

I spend about 1/4 of the year in Lebanon, well not in town but down by the river. I think you glanced over some of the good stuff about the area. There really is more to do than trout fish there, the Niangua river is one of the best rivers for enjoying the outdoors in the state and you can find something to enjoy year round. Summer you can go on a Party float trip or during the week go on a nice peaceful family/relaxing float and there is a ton of camping and swimming. During the fall you can float down the river and see all the colors of the leaves, take photo hikes or go to some of the historic sites. Winter really is mostly about trout fishing since most of the touristy stuff is closed from Nov to March. Spring everything opens back up and if you are fine with a lot of people you can enjoy all the same stuff from the other seasons. The best part about Lebanon is that it is a poorer area so you can have a fun and relaxing vacation for pretty cheap.

Being born and raised here in Missouri for 41 years now! The biggest issue we have here in Missouri is "Meth". Meth is the cause of a lot of the crime in this beautiful state. The cost of living in 90% of Missouri is very low compared to the rest of the state. I live in Springfield been here for 10 years, I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO live there for 20 years. Springfield is a lot safer then Kansas City by a long shot, rape and sexual attacks are a lot higher here due to all the colleges that we have in this town. If we could get araid of all the Meth heads you would see the crime rate in Springfield drop by 70% a less.
