Just saw this video. Sadly it is 5 months late, but I had to leave a comment on behalf of my family. We're happy you enjoyed Mary Shelley's opus, Frankenstein. It's good to know her work hasn't gone unnoticed.

Hey better late than never! But thanks for watching, Frank. Your ancestor's book is one of my favorites ;)

I just found you through the power of algorithms, and I have to say this: Frankenstein legitimately broke my heart. It's an amazing book 💔

This is great advice. I always wondered if anyone would care about my characters. I spent so many years not writing. So, I took the plunge a few months ago and almost done with my first draft. I sent my first chapter to an editor and she said she cared about what happened to the MC. There were typical issues with my writing, but my biggest worry was set aside because he was a likable MC.

Joshua!! I'm so glad you found this video helpful and have gotten back into writing! Always a relief when readers care about our MCs for sure. Love to hear that your editor is connecting with yours! ^.^ Thanks for sharing - let me know how it all turns out!!

This really was a question I asked myself. Watched so many writing videos, they all tried to convince me what I want to know is the thing they know the answer for. Cheaters. So anyway, I'm off checking my WIP for stickiness.

I've been working on writing my first novel for years and I don't think it has any of these! 😭Now I'm thinking I need to rewrite a whole bunch of stuff to make sure it has at least 1-2 of these... I don't even know where to start

Megan, I heard about a book in the genre of cyberpunk titled Trouble and her friends. Have you ever read it? Great video.

How can I make my memoir, interesting and exciting.

Hi Lori! I can't speak to this too much without more information about your project, but I would say honing in on points of conflict is a great place to start. Showing readers your journey through the moments that were hardest for you in which you learned the most, that can really help keep the pages turning!

Well, that's good. I needed confirmation however so thanks for getting back to me. I want you to know that I have been using youtube as an educational resource and discovered your content and presentation to be superior to most others. I hope that you enjoy it enough to stick with it regardless of number of views because you are a big help to many and that aspect of the endeavor can be rewarding in itself.

@@frankwalton7323 Yeah! I think if it has all of these elements and is executed well, it should be a fantastic read :). Where are you at in the writing process?
And I really appreciate that, Frank! That's so encouraging to me. I'm glad you've found my work useful, and I will definitely keep at it :). It's subscribers like yourself that make it all worth it and are the ones I'm hoping to reach! Thanks for taking the time to leave a supportive note

I am simultaneously writing a book and short story. The short story is titled Summer School and more like a memoir of a horrible summer in a kids childhood . The kid was me. The book is about a guy who gives up on life in the usa and goes to live on an island. That speaks from personal experience too. By the way, you are talking to an old man living on an island.
The story is finished but needs to be put together. There are still a few questions in my mind about structure but I think it is where I want it to be and it resolves well. Resolves with hope for a better future for the kid. The book is written already but only as a 130 page scribbled outline and some detail , short scenes I have perfected and typed. I have changed the beginning and satisfied with that now but unclear on how it should end .it's about a corrupt town, a clan of spooky murderous people, pretty grim stuff on a certain level. I appreciate your reply.

@@frankwalton7323 Haha that sounds super intriguing (and yes, also spooky!). Glad you're making progress on these projects, and I hope they're giving you life as you work on them :)
