    Man as a carpenter I find it super funny everyone is after you about the drywall screws. It's model trian layout not a load bearing wall in a house lol. Also just for everyone's information, Drywall screws, contruction screws and decking screws are all non structural screws. Unless your using a screw with packaging that specifically states its design for load bearing applications its not legal for house construction. Its your layout man, use whatever screws ya want. Keep up the good work, excited to see what you build in your new studio!

      I think I have broken more wood screws then dry wall screws. :)

    Working with white foam beadboard is an experience that sticks with you. Literally.

      I know. I've just been doing it! Fortunately it was just a small piece for a small diorama, to learn to do static grass on.

    Good to see you back to your old self Dave. And a new layout to boot.
    Should be great having all Verne's diorama pieces on their own layout. I always enjoyed seeing his work when he was on Railroad Line Forums.
    So this will be a fitting tribute to his fine work.
    I will be interested to see what you now have planned for that vacant space on the Thunder Mesa layout.
    Take care. Regards Rob.

    I love this! Verne was a huge reason why I got back into model trains, and On30 in general. It is awesome to see his legacy carried on in this mini layout design. I can't wait to see what happens to this.

    Great plan Dave, seems like it was yesterday when you, Verne and I sat at his dining table making saguaros. Hard to believe it’s been ten years. Thanks for keeping his memory alive.

    Verne was a great modeler and a great guy. I got to know him towards the end of his modeling n scale. He was a great inspiration for my n scale modeling. I was a follower of his On30 modeling. He is greatly missed. Thanks for preserving his legacy.

    Thank you. FYI.....I use drywall screws. Sometimes with a little wood glue. Holds like a champ. You will never be able to back them out with glue already applied.

    Thank you for posting this! I love looking at the different layouts, but this one is more an inspiration for me to build something simple not overwhelming. To go from trains on a board/daydreaming to an actual layout. Maybe just a little bigger to accommodate a passing track the couple of turnouts. Welcome back and glad to see new content from you. 🤟

    Dear Dave. I'm following your clips since a while of 3 - 4 Years. recognizing a change deep in you? right?? but come on, your're a winner, not prepared for the chicken run. the new interesting project showed again the brilliant way to create a dream from nothing/something to a diorama. I hope to see you soon here on the Chanel. take care, all the best. regards from Germany Wolfgang

    Great project, nice to put all those structures on a single diorama. If you where going to put that foam "hil" at the center, why did you took the time to cut the center of the plywood?

    • @ThunderMesaStudio
      @ThunderMesaStudio  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As I mentioned in the video, to reduce weight, and it's much easier to go through the foam alone when adding lights etc, than having to go through foam and plywood.

      Having never used one, how “fumey” is the hot wire foam cutter? I’m thinking noxious vapors! Sure is cleaner than sawing the stuff! And what brand of hot wire tool do you use?

    • @ThunderMesaStudio
      @ThunderMesaStudio  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tomt9543 You should always cut foam in a well ventilated area. The pink polystyrene is rated for residential use, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to huff the fumes. They're are many good manufacturers of hotwire cutters and they're all about the same. This is the one I use: a.co/d/g4TKuQU
