Thanks for doing this Wes. You nailed it with your comments. Since I can make poly work via external MIDI, then there is no reason they couldn't do a round robin poly setting. Very disappointed they didn't do it.
The strength of the page looping function for me, is that you can now focus and edit, say... the 3rd bar of your 4 bar (64 Step) pattern and not have to wait for all 64 Steps to cycle through to hear what you edited, the performative benefit is a side note.
I completely agree that Elektron is not fully utilizing all the features the software could bring, there are many features where there is NO reason they shouldn't be in all machines, all of them should have saving p-locks to presets, euclidean sequencing and so on
it's most likely coming to most boxes. you have to understand that there is some development & release schedule, so it takes time before it spreads across the boxes.
I mean, dont get me wrong its cool that they do that, and they are consistent with them, but for example Model:Cycles hasnt received an update in a while and as a dev I find myself wishing theyd update it or release the source code, I just think if youre not updating ur soft on certain devices, might was well let others do it on their own responsibility
So happy to see the Syntakt get some love. In particular, I’d love to see more parity across devices, especially with the sequencer developments like page looping and Euclidean, so bravo, boys. the Syntakt is only 2.5 years into its life cycle, and I’m glad to see it given love. I agree, this thing could absolutely be the spiritual successor to the MD and MM, and I’d love to see a wider range of monophonic tones available. That said, don’t sleep on the digital Bd, can get very cool Buchla-esque sounds on that one.
I just had my DT 1 last weekend, instant love (coming from Ableton only for sequencing, owned few synths, one at a time, now only an OpSix and DT1), what is page looping? In which Elektron devices is it ?
@@baarth8305 page looping is on DT2, ST, and possibly AR/A4. Basically means you can have a single pattern running but only be playing one “page” of it. Helpful for editing, and has some performance possibilities.
Totally agree with your yapping at the end. I sometimes wonder if Elektron are struggling with their software engineers. Did they lose some key coders? Or is the same small team of people juggling updates for all of the machines? Are they trying to consolidate their code base so they're spending most of their time rewriting existing functionality? I would love to write code for these OS'. Elektron, hit me up! 😂
Really happy with the Deluge, which is now open-sourced firmware and the community are absolutely killing it with massive updates to its capabilities. Unfortunately doesn't seem like something in the realm of the company culture of Elektron.
I would love to see shared polyphony. I appreciate the new machines, but I would prefer being able to play chords instead. The Digitone is really powerful, even with fewer tracks, thanks to the way they've implemented polyphony.
Great update! Personally i think elektron is starting to get more innovative with their devices. Page loop is super nice to come out of a elektron product.
In Ezbot's latest video he was acting like he had no interest in using the Syntakt ever again until it got page looping. Thank goodness for this update.
For anyone reading this. Is Fors Opal a good intro into elektron style devices? I really want to jump into hardware but I have a feeling I won’t like it
it is in the sense that you do a lot of parameter locking on the sequencer - but it is different in the sense that the fors is software. Perfect circuit has a 14 day return policy that is insanely good, I'd say give it a shot, I like the workflow quite a bit more when I can put my hands on it.
Take a look at the octatrack and digitone arpeggiators! You certainly could program them in, and I do a lot, but an arpeggiator as a performance effect can be really cool
Just fantastic. Who else thanks the ferrets? Thank you for that. 100 emoji. I pray Madonna Electron and little baby overbridge jesus make the new fill switch user-selectable.
Love my syntakt but I was one step away from selling it because I use it too long as main drum machine and and I was always irritated by weak analog channels, but I was hoping for an interesting update and looks like here is it. But I think there will be no samples in syntakt.
All I really want for this or just a totally different Elektron box is a polyphonic analog 5-8 voice synth. I had analog four mk 2 for nearly two years and I just didn’t do it for me.
@@milk_bath Digitone was one of my first synths and I used it exclusively alongside Digitakt for a long time. It has incredible presets and sound potential, however, I just have a thing for warm analog tones, like my Prophet 5.
