These AFRC members who were desperate for wealth took money from the government and traveled abroad, now claim Jerry who stayed to selflessly build the Country without enriching himself didn’t deserve any credit. Even, America that is credited as the longest and most stable democracy in the world has also gone through a period of revolution. Had Jerry who was an Air-force pilot then traveled to seek greener pastures or become an Air-force member in the US or UK, he’ll be greatly more successful than becoming Head of State in Ghana and celebrated like the Late John McCain in the US.

Of course you'd say that... micro nationalist that you are....two main goals of the cabal.... revenge kotoka's death ( Afrifa's execution never left me sad he deserves it may be not for the same reasons you and your friends think) .. punish mother Ghana for dividing the Ewe "empire" and allowing Eyadema to lord it over the people who think Togo belongs to them...You can support rawlings and his people based solely on tribal affiliation it does not change the fact that Ghanaians from the North were idealistic and were used by those from the Volta region. they were naive to put it mildly. Same way Afrifa and by extention used Kotoka and the Ewes to overthrow Nkrumah... and the Asante/Akyems used the Ewes to mess up Ghana by overthrowing Nkrumah.. To your people Nkrumah having "defeated" Olympia (whom I admire for being the Francophone Nkrumah) by dividing the greater empire.... he needed to be punished... Nkrumah he needed to be overthrown ... Harley, Deku, Kotoka...

Ask Akata-Pore if indeed he planned and agreed with Liman to launch a coup detat and have an opportunity to remove Imoro Igara and the old CPP guards who were the ones who put Liman up as presidential candidate which finally made Limann president from disturbing Limann. You Akata-Pore announced the coup and started inviting Rawlings and Rawlings brought in Tsikata, Anauld Quaynoo and the rest. That, when Rawlings turned the government into an Ewe regime, you fired a warning shot at Rawlings and that episode got you into prison. What I take from Alolga Akata-Pore’s interview is a person who has become remorseful and contrite in the role he played to open misery and hell gates on his people.
No sooner had they staged the 31st December 1981 coup did he realize he has been used as someone’s tool to achieve an objective he didn’t share. Used and dumped and now he is sorry. He also realizes that just as the generals were tied to the stakes and shot for overthrowing civilian constitutional governments, he too may be hanged the same, if we have our way and go by the book.
Bottom line, Rawlings is a conman, a murderer and undeserving of our respect. He must apologize for the wanton destruction of human lives and atone for his sins by returning all his assets - he and his wife - back to the state, and apologizing profusely. Aboa like that.
I wish Alolga was asked questions about the kidnapping and murdering of the judges exactly 6 months into the administration of the PNDC, of which he was a part at the time? What did he know, when and how and for what?

According to Akata-Pore and Adabuga, those judges freed the so called AFRC convicts who were given abnormal sentences without trial and that made JJ upset and even went on air and threatened to punish the judges until their death.
Matthew Adabuga again said on Andy D TV that, there was a meeting between the PNDC members before the abduction and the only members who were absent from that meeting were Father Damoah and Gen. Nunu Mensah that was why when the news broke out, Gen Nunu Mensa went to the PNDC office and confronted JJ and that was what led to his resignation as the Chief Of Defense Staff...

No matter what anyone says,I still believe kwame nkrumah can be blamed for military governments in ghana, which culminated into AFRC and PNDC govt which unleashed mother of all inhumane atrocities in ghana.Had nkrumah who was privileged to live and acquired western education in America, embraced America style constitution which allows a president two terms in office and use his likely two terms in office, utilizing ghana resources to modernize agriculture,so that food production can keep up with population growth, and build infrastructures across ghana and supervise a smooth transition of power.Ghana would have had a steady government and the next government would continue the good initiatives started by him.All the attempts on nkrumah life were driven by his dictatorial rule. The Europeans watching ghana and the sound management display by nkrumah would have convinced them that the black man is indeed capable of managing his own affairs and rethink their continue colonization of Africa.Remember the cold war and Berlin Wall came to abrupt end without America or former Soviet Union having to use weapons of mass destruction,

    • @andrewsbempah970
      @andrewsbempah970 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Bantze Hotep Nkrumah assumed he had monopoly of wisdom and knowledge hence he must rule till death.I still believe nkrumah strategy to free other Africa countries under colonial rule was costly to ghana and not the best option. If a guy full of muscles, realizing that you skinny and you are no match for him in fight, use his power to take say your shirt, your best option is not fighting the guy,but rather you approach the guy in diplomatic way.if the guy is reasonable he would realize that he is wrong and reconsider his action.Had nkrumah utilize ghana resources to build infrastructures across ghana and modernize agriculture.Ghana would have had steady food production and supply and the 1966 coup could be averted.High food prices typically generate serous demonstration and protest, making the government unpopular.Any time l hear people talking about nkrumah and his 18 miles tema motor way,I just laugh because I believe nkrumah could have completed a similar motorway from Accra to paga,if he had not embraced costly war to free Africa.Again Remember the cold war and Berlin Wall came down without America or former Soviet Union having to use weapons of mass destruction. Not every conflict is resolved by going to war.

Aloga,I think you must check spending all the time, whether you have a lot of resources or not,Ghana is going through hard times now,in part because Nkrumah inherited a rich nation became allogant and embarked on gargantuan spending spree, without coherent strategies to replenish outlays from inherited assets.A newly independent nation of six million people, experiencing exponential birthrate and government service jobs expanding.Cutlass and hoe way of farming become unsustainable to produce enough food for the masses.A visionary leader top most priority would be allocation of resources to achieve mechanized farming throughout the country,Farmers equip with modern farm tools would require fewer workers and even layoff some existing workers,Then large scale import substituting industrialisation become very essential since it would provide jobs for displaced farm workers and others. The rush to industrialize ghana shortly after independence merely helped the newly created manufacturing jobs in cities to be filled quickly at the expense of agriculture and the root cause of ghana burden with food importation,Also foreign aid alone can solve problems in ghana,Most efforts must come from within.Ghana cannot continue to import rice, creating jobs those countries while ghana arable land and human resources lay idle.Malaysia afteindependence emphasised strong agriculture base especially in the area of Palm oil and today having factories depending on domestcaly grown agriculture goods,

    1. Limann was not pursuing Nkrumah's goals. His government took money from the UK to send the Revolutionaries out of the country to school. Nkrumah would have understood the revolution and made use of the revolutionary; not gotten rid of them.
    2. Kala bule was returning. The judges were overturning all the revolution's achievements.
    3. Limann left handling the AFRC memebers who didnt leave to school to the Military Intelligence, who manufactured stories to justify killing them.
    4. Rawlings was faced with the option of being murdered, or kicking the PNP out. Also, the corruption was returning. It was clear the PNP didnt understand why the 4th June revolution actually happened.
    5. After the murder of the judges, Akatapore started to instigate coup attempts against the PNDC. People like him felt it was a betrayal that JJ threw the case to the civilian commission. It is possible that they were behind it, and felt the PNDC would adopt their more extreme Maoist ideology, but JJ did not go down that path. When the Giwa coup happened, Akatapore was in jail for an earlier attempt. They broke him out, in the same way, on June 4th, soldiers broke JJ out. Unfortunately, Akatapore is no JJ. Rather than lead the rebels he had cultivated, he fled the country. He conveniently skips this context when he said he went in exile. It was on the day of Giwa's coup. And he run away like a coward, rather than finish what he started.
    6. CIA files clearly labeled Rawlings as Socialist. Akatapore was not socialist. He was communist. His views were that everyone over 40 should be executed, everyone with over 50k Cedis in their bank account should be executed. His version of 'socialism' was more like Pol Pot and the K'Mer Rouge and Mao's China. The PNDC would not have it, and Akatapore tried to have Rawlings killed.

      @@michaelacheampong2869 Several books:
Read Revolution betrayed by Barbara Okeke
Or The trial of Jerry Rawlings by Prof. Kojo Yankah.
There are files by the CIA on his bent.
As for the Akatapore bit, I fear the 80s suffered when saboteurs burned GBC down in 1988 and 1993, as well as Rawlings' house (with his family in it) in the early 2000s, so media and records of the PNDC are scarce; which is why today's commentators can speak so loudly, because they know much of it can only be challenged by hear-say.
However, there are insiders open to talk; from lower ranked soldiers to former ministers (secretaries) of that era, who faced down the Akatapores and Giwas head-on.
The issue arises with the Nkrumaist elements who saw Rawlings as simply warming the seat for their own Nkrumaist party. So once Rawlings was preparing to get off the seat, they orchestrated a political coup and made themselves 'kingmakers'. Over the last 20yrs, those who have not been co-opted by Kufuor's camp, have been co-opted by The Ahwoi and Mahama camp to twist the story.
There are records of the discrepancy between what they are saying now, and what they said 20+ years ago. But you'd need to look for yourself

There was a need for the coup/revolution to take place. There is nothing Jerry has to apologize for. We needed it.

So sad ,news of the events of 31st December 1981 took Ghana back to the dark days of blame games, hatred, bigotry, treachery, envy, jealousy, pettiness, lawlessness, unpatriotic behaviours and blatant disregard for authority. This was the period of acrimony, insulting generation snatching and arrogating to themselves the authority of supervising the sale of essential commodities at control prices, the militia groups of some sort with questionable characters were trained in weapon handling,Akata Pore it's clear now that you are a traitor of the highest order,in war criminals and miscreants are the characters that call the shots, another traitor of the sort Chris Atim, you should be ashamed of yourselves in bringing down this nation Ghana by selling Dr Kwame Nkrumah's factories and warehouses to wives, family members, cronies, friends Gen Acheampong never sold a whole factory to Mama Faustina Acheampong of South Suntreso,31st December 1981 is the history that has not been written, cowards and hoodlums, hooligans and looters of the state assets.you need to apologize and tell the truth, nothing but the truth.shameless generation of youth

Rawlings can’t convince Ghanaians that he didn’t do anything wrong during his time as a leader, any sensible person would Know that’s not true. He just need to admit his wrongs and apologize.
