2/3: 5/23/24. New topic. '24 BigTen Washington cfb notes cont'd. (more up to date than Our Lads). Deep safety: Roc Boys TH-cam cfb channel already knows: Washington getting S Broussard, ex of SacStateFCScfb, is a nice add. Broussard: better tackler than Asa Turner (now at UF); but Turner may grade out slightly better than Broussard vs the pass. IDLman Valdez, ex of Mont. St.: quality add. SanDiegoCountyHSfb product(big +). 2-Time All-BigSky, in 3 yrs at Mont.St.: 16 sacks, 24 TFLs, 1700 snaps, 2nd-strongest weightlifter on team (after OLG, whose 1st name is Gaard 😂). Interior pass-rush specialist: IDLman Lynch(6'5 283), ex of SacSt, another nice add from a respected FCS program. Not a powerful run-stuffer - his best strength is pass-rush, esp. from interior but moves well enough to also be a stand up edge pass rusher. Overall note: nice that Huskies' '24 transfer portal class is #11-ranked - tempered by reality that only 2 top-22 starters from '23 had returned.
1/3: 5/23/24. New topic. '24 BigTen Washington cfb notes (more up to date than Our Lads). [There is an Iowa fb-adjacent note in thread section #3 of 3]. LT: Ex-juco(IowaCentral) LT Maximus McRee - slight upgrade (0 depth behind him - young guys w/no FBS snaps).* McCree: 2-time juco all-American, was at Md for 1 yr (played few snaps in '22; didn't play cfb in '23). LG: OLG Gaard Memmelaar, injured in '23, is penciled-in starter. Frankly, early in '23, UnivOfWash. cfb media said OG play was bad ('23 Huskies' OL play was only hyped after 2 or 3 guys were shuffled & 1 or 2 new starters were put in, around week 4). Imo LG remains a weakness & question mark (👀). C Titalii, ex of PortlandStUniv(FCS) is ok+, is undersized, moves well. RG Vimahi: position of weakness (per details from BuckeyeHuddle [OhioSt cfb media]). IIrc, at tOSU, Vimahi nvr made 2-deep & I nvr heard re any regrets after Vimahi departed from C-bus(🤔). 'RT Azzopardi (transfer-in from San Diego St): gr8 add. Azzopardi=All-BigTen-level ORT.
Things will be different, not necessarily better, but different. If it does get better it will be slightly. Maybe Top 100. But cannot see Iowa breaking the top 75.
WR room is the major weakness. You are entirely correct Ted. I probably overstated QB room, but you can't realistically have done better in the spring portal. If Kirk has been working up the Oline this off-season, the offense might be improved to some extent.
The Wild Wild West will live on!
Don't you actually have to have an offense before you can improve it?
