Quick personal Story:
I`m getting 50 this Year in July and my Dream was to visit the 150th Open at St.Andrews as a Birthday Gift to myself.
But the Pandemic destroyed that Dream now.
Now i hope i can participate next Year ... fingers crossed to get some Tickets for that.

I watched that Open, and as an Avid JackNicklaus 8 year old fan... I was devastated. What an absolutely fitting tribute to that Watson moment at 11:57 What a lovely man, a special moment for the interviewer, when he placed is arm around him, and walked off the green, as Jack did! What an ambassador for golf. Epic! Well done Mr Watson. Thats made my day!

I really don't know much about the old players of golf, but the interview with Tom Watson caught me and i felt really emotional. So I've to say: great job Erik Anders Lang and the production team for the special flare and well brought history of golf, thanks ^^
In 1977 I was 23 and had been going to the Open since the mid 1960s. When Nicklaus was over his putt on the 18th, I was one of the solid mass of people at the front of the green, my only view level with the ball, through my cardboard perriscope. When Nicklaus's ball vanished it went from silence to such a roar I was shocked by it. To me the greatest moment in over 40 Opens.

I love this game.
Tom Watson's winning putt/Jack story got me really emotional......has their ever been a more gracious loser than Jack? He never seemed to mind being beat when someone really rose to the occasion. And Tom Watson seems like one of the greatest guys around, not just in golf, but anywhere.

Great video but I was hoping for one thing that didn’t happen: comment from Tom re his near Open win at age 58.... maybe it was a condition for the interview? To not discuss it? If so it shows it hurts him to this day... no Cink highlights either....!
I'm confused. They've been playing golf the last five weeks. All of the other three majors have been rescheduled and will be played. Why exactly can't they play The Open this year? Why can't there be a Ryder Cup?
Golf welcomes all but only one will win.
Sadly I don’t agree with the decision “not going to be possible”. The decision was made too early. The OPEN is about players and not R&A profit. The OPEN can be Played without patrons and R&A financially can break even with live broadcast.

What about the first open golf champion held on Leith links in 1744 when a Dr John Rattery wrote up the first 13 rules of golf . And they played for a silver putter
Why do the Americans call it the a British open when we had it first and it is call THE OPEN
I believe 'the open' is an official trade mark,there is no malice intended when called 'the British open',it's just mainly to distinguish it from various other 'open's'for people who are less well informed about golf,people say 'the Forth railway bridge' instead of 'the Forth bridge'(original) because there are now 3 bridges over the River Forth

Dear o'dear. Wow. Factually wrong big time- at least the St Andrews guy speaking is. Old Tom Morris died in !908 and outlived Tommy his son by 33 years. The Open started in 1860 after Tommy had won 3 challenge belts in a row- 1856-1858. Tradition was he got to keep it after winning three consecutively. 1859 there was no competition because there was no recognised trophy. The claret jug was then installed in 1860 and that what was played for in the first Open; I think also won by Tommy.
