They put so much detail into styling, look how the Olds name is part of the grill. cool. I feel like a 4 or 5 year old again. I had many enjoyable times in a car exactly like this and same color when I was a kid. Our family traded it in for a 62' 98 Olds. I remember sitting in the front between my parents. By the time we traded it in the back seat was in bad shape as me and my siblings were pretty hard on it. We had no seatbelts and baby seats were not even invented then. I remember going down the road hanging out the back window playing with my pin wheel in the breeze..LOL.

It was my first car, bought in 1958 when I graduated ($1200). Mine had white only on the roof when I bought it so I painted it red to match the rest of the car. I had it reupholstered in white with red trim. Sadly, I sold it when I graduated from college. I still dream about it.

Thank you very much! It is always a delicate dance to edit the sound and music correctly. I try not to take away from the cars and their own sounds they make. I appreciate that! more to come

Beautiful car. Glad you didn't insert a bunch of annoying music while driving (the period music that was playing is ok though) The loud mufflers would come off if I had it but other than that I love it as is, all stock and not a bunch of aftermarket junk.

Hi I have a 55 just like yours, inherited from father in law. he bought it in 1958. I was able to get original gray seat material in Washington . Always had clear plastic seat covers and when I took them off 10 years ago the original front seat material frayed. Leather is in great shape though. Not quite as nice as yours . mine has

Love it. My parents had one when I was very young. Why were the engines so noisy back then even with quiet mufflers compared to the quiet smooth engines today?

    • @samspace81

Roller valvetrain, catalytic converters, less friction all around, precise fuel and air metering, etc

Mike, REALLY?? OK, os why were the '55 Olds so much more quiet and dependable than the 1935 Olds??? Uh....."technology" maybe?

If you could find an old state police version of that car they were pretty fast, in 1955 had options for power windows air-conditioning, and cruise control, they even had power vent windows, and I believe that there was an option for a power antenna, I seen one in a junkyard that had a 45 record Player in it looked like a factory option, Oldsmobile was one of the best cars ever made by General Motors, they were definitely underrated. The brakes weren't that good and the windshield wipers were vacuum-operated so they weren't that good either.

@@samspace81 I had a couple 55 olds, and a couple of them you could not even hear the motor running they were that quiet, and the only reason the brakes didn't work that well, because the car probably weighed over 5000 pounds, but the amazing part was the gas mileage and performance for a vehicle that was that heavy, they had no problem going over a 120 miles an hour in a heartbeat, you could probably make five or six cars today out of the metal that was used in one of them, the front bumper alone probably weighed close to 300 pounds, they were amazing vehicles in 1955 vehicle started to take on a life of their own when there was real competition in the automotive industry, today we just built communist cars, they track us and report on us, and pretty much they are all the same.

@@samspace81 Seems like a small engine for such a big ole car! I do like that Buck's instrument panel. It's very sharp! Now, all it needs is a new 4 Seasons A/C unit installed into it!!
