OMG! My dream system that I always wanted but could never afford it this would have been my favorite system. The $500 system was one thing but the $200+ cartridges was the problem. Too expensive!!! Congratulations on having one in your collection. Very good review and cool video Wicked!👍
@Derrick Finzer yeah I could do that but I wanted the real system. Back in the day there was no emulation so either you had the money or not. I only knew one guy who had it he was a few years older than me but had a much better paying job. The Neo Geo my platonic love lol!😆
@Derrick Finzer yeah I know what you mean because there is not enough Neo Geo AES going around. But not even Mister can emulate NEO-GEO as good as the real NEO-GEO. When you are talkin about emulation you mean a generic way to play.
I always wanted one but it was too expensive when I was a kid. Nevermind the cartridges cost 100 to 300 each. This is one case where emulating it via retropie is a great alternative
I am a huge Neo Geo fan i even made a glass display case to show of the games i bought for the system !!And collecting action figures for the Neo geo characters!! I already have over 30 Neo Geo Aes games .I am only buying the games i love!! I only need 2 more to complete my metal slug series and only one more to complete my Samurai showdown series!! The king of fighters 3 more to go!! This is the best retro system ever period!! Note I started collecting this for almost 2 yrs now!!
This is definitely my favorite retro system! I love NEO-GEO so much that I made my Arcade1Up cabinet into a makeshift MVS cab, I would love to own all original hardware one day 🤘
I have nearly 80% of the old retro arcade consoles and by far the NEO GEO is my favourite . I was lucky and started collecting years ago and before the prices went stupidity high it's crazy
Yeah same here. I started buying AES games around 2004 when no one cared about them and they were mostly pretty cheap. I wouldn't buy any today though. I did buy the AES 161-in-1 and I love it. With that and 10 cartridges that I already had from a long time ago I consider myself done with collecting for the Neo Geo and now I just play the hell out of it.
Was amazing to own a NeoGeo AES and SamSho etc. back in 1993. Then about 8yrs ago I repurchased one, such great systems. MVS is probably the way to go nowadays for real hardware, or the NeoSD cart. Yes save state memory cards began with Neo, not PS1 🤠👍
I noticed you have jailbars with your AES console. You can get rid of them by cutting the PAL trace inside the console. With that, you will also get 60hz on all games. Just a tip!
Thanks, nah want to keep it this way. Maybe will get a fully modded with Uni Bios in the future.. or pickup that new MVS they are selling on Ali-Express 😄
I have a consolized mvs system and I love it. The mvs carts are a lot cheaper than the aes counterparts and there’s a lot of mvs games that never got ported to aes.
@@WickedGamerCollector what happened to the one you got from Italy? I have found that the neo geo games run flawlessly on my arcade one up on the Pandora’s Box EX and I installed the unibios file so now I have a ton of options when playing my games.
Holy grail indeed. Doubt I'll ever get this system, just due to cost of owning any games for it. I have the Neo Geo Gold, with flash cart. Do like that, but not used too often. MiSTer or my Series S is my go to for Neo Geo nowadays. Beautiful system though, especially viewed placed alongside the controller
Wish they released a new system like this. You know they can remake the original eas games zo why not make a totally new machine 👌 Make it affortable to everybody. 😲
@@danixnikki yeah you're right, quite a lot around that price in my currency too when look on eBay, some Japanese games even cheaper. Perhaps one time, I may treat myself, and curb it to one game a month. But there's still Megadrive games on my wishlist I'll likely buy first
So, I've had all the major NeoGeo stuff... AES home console, 2-slot MVS "big red" cabinet, Hyper64 motherboard, NGPC, Mini, ASP, etc., etc... all of which to say... the NeoGeo is awesome, but collecting for it is completely impractical. The market is crazy. And in the end, you could spend that same money a lot of other ways. But yeah, it's cool, have to agree... Bigger, Badder, Better. :)
Proud to own a mint AES with a fully loaded NEOSD cart. It's sublime on my BVM. Don't have Xenocrisis though, so may have to pick that up and support the devs. Nice video and collection.
Back in the early 90’s I passed on Neo Geo AES as I honestly felt the games weren’t any better than what I was playing on the SNES & Genesis (MD). Their whole Bigger Badder Better slogan didn’t impress me so it wasn’t till around 2010 that I started collecting for Neo Geo AES and I have a decent collection of games such as Ninja Commando, Top Hunter, Viewpoint, Metal Slug 4 & Spin Master and others but many of the affordable games like you mentioned are actually excellent games to play.
The Neo Geo was leaps and bounds above the Genesis and SNES. If you didn't see the difference in the graphics alone on the Neo Geo when compared to the watered down garbage that was on the 16bit offerings, then you either had very bad vision or you were a Sega or Nintendo "nut" who was in denial, that there was a system out there that crushed them both on a technological front.

LED and LCD TVs are very similar. They both use liquid crystals with backlights to illuminate the pixels. Only real difference is that LED TVs use LEDs to backlight the screen, while LCDs use Fluorescent bulbs. Standard old analog CRTs will always be the best for low resolution systems like the Neo Geo with better contrast, black levels, lightening fast control inputs and screen refresh time for fast action. Though they are extremely big and heavy if you want a huge screen. I'd personally use a modest sized 27" CRT over a 50+" LCD/LED any day for just Neo Geo. But depends on the person. Plasmas would give you an image closer to the quality of a CRT but there is likely some input lag. But if you can find a Plasma, it is probably more preferable to an LCD or LED TV. But CRT if you can.
