I don't usually comment on videos, but this is just awesome. I'm an undergraduate geology student and I must admit that glaciers were never all that interesting to me until recently. I am currently taking a geomorphology course instructed by two very prominent glacial geomorphologists and they've absolutely lured me into all things glacier. You clearly did your research and did a great job simplifying some of the more complex dynamics of glacial activity. Geologists are so often concerned with what has already happened and the breadcrumbs we've been left behind, and it's a great change of pace to have someone like you remind us that the present and future is just as important. Very well done, I'd love to look at more of your content. It's a shame this video has
I have seen many glaciers around the world, and it is the same story; glaciers are melting at an alarming rate. The "heart's" arteries are being clogged with higher greenhouse emissions, warming the planet, melting the ice, and leaving less ice to reflect back the solar radiation. It is a nasty feedback loop. Impressive video, Aidin. Superb storytelling, cinematography, and editing.
This is the lie Blackrock and the World Economic Forum and so on have been feeding you and everybody else, because they want you in fear because then you will be more easily controllable. If you haven't noticed yet(sadly you have not) there are actual evil people in this world who want to rule the world alone and want everybody else to submit to them. Modern day slavery. You can look up Patrick Moore and see what he has to say about carbon dioxide and more. Climate change is a business that are constantly being altered to fit the narrative of evil people. These people couldn't care less about nature. It's just a tool to cause fear and make humanity tear eachother apart. They want us all to suffer, and eventually they'll offer the one solution to fix it all(obviously all bs and lies) which is giving in to them and let them do what ever they want with this world. If you as much as think about disagreeing with them, you'll have that on your record, and before you know it we're all meat robots with no lives. You people are helping evil have it their way because you eat and spread their lies every single day without question.
@@idontcare2851 By and large glaciers are retreating. That does not mean that all are--If those near you are stable I'm happy to hear it. The one I visited more recently, Perito Moreno, is too. But those are the exceptions to the rule, and should not be used as an excuse to brush away warranted concern.
I recently had the once in a lifetime of opportunity to visit Iceland as part of a school trip. I’m only young, 16, but it changed me. On my third day we pulled up in seemingly the middle of nowhere. We met up with a group of really lovely locals to go glacier walking, but at first I was very confused because ‘base camp’ was almost out of sight from the glacier itself. They explained to me as we hiked towards the glacier that where we were walking used to be glacier 20 years ago, but due to climate change it had receded leaving a deep, long valley. I was shocked, obviously, but what hurt me and put the scale into perspective was that the ‘base camp’ and car park used to be at the foot of the ice just 25 years ago, and yet now all that was left was a partially flooded valley floor for about 2km before actually reaching the ice itself. The glacier walk itself was magical, but since returning my mind keeps on casting back to this moment. It’s made me realise how small humans are, yet their impact on the world is greater than I could ever imagine. The future is really up to us, and since my trip and discovering your channel I’ve been so inspired to just get out there and travel the world and, more importantly, protect what we have left and to help the Earth recover where possible. Thank you for all you do, your content is amazing and I really appreciate you raising awareness about the natural beauty of this planet! ❤
I am an ecological and climate enthusiast and activist as well as a dedicated fan of your work which makes me so proud to see this video. You had a topic/problem that is not uplifting and put into gorgeous visuals and thoughtful explanation which truly inspires hope. you created hope. what a beautiful thing
Wonderful. No better way to bring across the vital importance of sustaining glaciers around the global than via cinematic footage of the highest quality. Truly amazing work and thank you so much.
These are some of the most beautiful videos on the natural world I've ever seen. It's amazing how informative and well made they are, and Aidin absolutely deserves more subscribers.
Bro you’re the ONLY person that whenever I play your videos on my TV I have to put the volume 65% up and the brightness All the way Up!. Now that’s not to take away from what’s actually happening which freaking sucks ! But man why couldn’t you be history teacher back in high school? History class would never be boring
Wow stunning! Glad to see you made one of the North Cascades and all of its glaciers. It’s one of my favorite places here in the Pacific Northwest. You’ve been hitting many of my PNW area video checklists lately! Between this and the PNW 400+ ft Douglas fit old growth one and various others. I try to watch every single one of your videos and share them around whenever I can. They’re the best nature documentary style videos and films I see on this platform or anywhere else.
Beautifully created, Aidin! Love these docs you make cause they inspire me as a filmmaker, but also educationally teach me something useful - always feels refreshing!
I really appreciate the films you've been doing centered on ecology/environmental issues. They are concise, informative, and very well produced. As an ecologist who works in part on coastal climate change and sea-level rise (in the PNW and California), I've come to believe that film and other artistic media often have more power to convey the importance of healthy ecological systems to humankind than any amount of data that scientists can produce. Of course the science is critical to understanding the magnitude and urgency of issues like climate change, and to developing good policies to addressing those issues, but scientists often may not have the reach that film, music, or other forms of art can have to the public more broadly. I'm also an amateur still photographer, printmaker, and writer so I've increasingly thought about ways to convey conservation information in non-scientific ways. Great work!
Man I don’t visit your channel often, but this was honestly such a captivating video. From the sound design, the wide shots, the super closeup shots; Everything was beautifully knitted together. Planet Earth on youtube.
Thank you for this! I was just in Iceland last month, and seeing the glaciers in person whilst hearing about the effects of climate change really impacted me, and your movie definitely inspired me to do my part
Your voice on the topic and clear genuine concern for environmental issues always shines through in your videos. The goal of this video to showcase a much more tangible way to perceive so many things related to glaciers and their impact on the world as a whole was achieved. Well done as always. Huge fan. Love what you're doing here.
This video was worth the tremendous effort you put into it. The quality speaks for it's self but thank you. It's an inspiration and a joy to experience.
Really love the intricate storytelling and education packed into smaller video, very informative, watchable and fun. The glaciers of inside passage Alaska will always have a place in my heart.
I love your videos! They're well made, relaxing, and informative. For a channel with such high production quality, I don't know how your videos don't garner more views right off the get-go.
So cool Aidin! This past summer i was going to try and hike out to the same trail near Lake Ann right next to the glacier on Shuksan mountain. Its a beaytiful wilderness. Im an oil painter so theres a lot of inspiration up that way that I hope to explore more.
Aidin is the best filmmaker on TH-cam. Narrative, images, voice over, pace, everything is perfect! My wife came into my office just now while I was watching the video, I didn't even notice and she asked me... what are you watching that has you so immersed? 😅
I don't see the glaciers melting as a huge deal. The only cities that _might_ be at risk are those that are right by the coast. And even then, the water level will likely only rise a few inches. Not exactly good reason for mass hysteria and fearmongering.
Did you even watch this video entirely? Rising ocean levels was only one of the issues. He discussed so many other issues associated with losing the glaciers. They amount to a significant portion of fresh water supply for drinking and farming, they feed the rivers and a significant amount of hydro powered electricity. The waters feed the forests and ecosystems. Keeps the areas cooler, reflects sunlight which helps regulate the temperature. The glacier-fed rivers bring much needed nutrients to the oceans to maintain life in oceans, plus the mixing of cold water into the oceans help maintain ocean currents that are important to maintain weather patterns. There was so much in this short video. It's not fear mongering. It's educational. We have to be aware of the consequences of our continuing this current lifestyle. We need to realize that and start adjusting to make things sustainable for the future generations.
Thank you for sharing Aidin! It's refreshing to hear that glaciers melting is a normal part of the globes warming cycle and better than a global freeze!
Another awesome video and master of editing piece! Maybe one day I can see you in the mountain somewhere in NC since I am also living in NC and hiking and filming all the time. Lol😅
I have seen glaciers we have them in Norway, they weren't too far from where I grew up. One of them is called Briksdalsbreen, it's located further in a national park called Jostedalsbreen.

Fantastic work. Your style of factual storytelling is unmatched.
Fantastic job, Aidan! The glaciers look so imposing and incredible, it's disappointing that we forget how vital they are to the world.
Thank you Tommy! 🥹
Beyond words.... BBC NEEDS to get you as their CINEMATOGRAPHER. Congrats on another magnificent documentary!
The rate of melt that’s happening in the Cascades is terrifying. We must act quickly to preserve what’s left.
And what exactly do you intend to do which will stop the melting?
@frankblangeard8865 🤔something tells me he'll just continue to be terrified and virtue signal about how we need to act despite it's impossibility.
