So his Mum had heart surgery immediately after he was born and he had to live with his grandmother as a baby. The accident was in his trainee days and he kept it secret for a while as he was working part time delivering food and wasn't supposed to. The company waited for him to recover from a severe shoulder injury and paid his college tuition so he didn't have to work. But he carried severe shoulder pain until a few years ago when he finally had surgery to fix a labrum tear. His Dad's surgery was I believe after he debuted. Both his Mum and Dad are still alive. There is a lot more to Suga's mental health journey he shares in other songs. The scar is symbolic and not real. Suga just though it looked cool in the Deachwita video. But as he plays a king in that MV that is to show something as well as a King in ancient Korea had to be perfect. A King with a scar would be the exception.
@@TripTipsPodcast I’d like to add a few details: 1) Suga blamed himself for “contributing” to his mom’s heart problems with his birth. 2) He pursued a rap/idol career against his parents’ wishes. 3) His accident happened while he was a trainee at BigHit, and his dad’s diagnosis was likely after his debut when he was already actively performing. So he kept questioning whether he had made the “correct” decisions & probably torturing himself over being selfish/greedy re: staying in Seoul to pursue his career as opposed to returning home to care for his parents. 4) he has mentioned the self-harm scene in this MV represents the idea that we give ourselves a lot of the hurt that holds us back. 5) The different versions of himself in Daechwita & Haegum have scars that have healed to a different degree, except the thug (possibly undercover cop?) in Haegum who has completely recovered (or has he? 🤔) 6) In the last concert of his tour, he waved goodbye and stepped through the white door, and he has been looking a lot more open & relaxed.
He wasn't able to free himself in the past, he just could not open that door. But recently he has shown us, that nowadays he is much better: at the end of his last concert in Seoul they put up a door on the stage and after saying his goodbyes, he opened it, turned to the audience and left through that door. This symbolic gesture gave such relief.
Thank you for checking out Amygdala. I cried watching this MV. 1. Suga has done so many part time jobs during his trainee days to support himself financially. He got into a motorcycle accident when he was doing a food delivery. He didn't tell anyone about the accident. He was scared that Big Hit will cut him off from the group. So he endured it and keep it to himself. He once said that when they have to perform a heavy performance, he will take some kind of a pain killer shot on his shoulder. It was 2020 when his shoulder gave up due to the choreography of Black Swan that he has no choice but to undergo surgery. He was absent from the group for about 3months. 2. His Mom had a surgery after having Suga. Her mother became sick when Suga was born. In the BTS book released this year for the 10th anniversary of BTS, Suga shared that it made him somehow feel guilty. It made him think "Was it right that I was born?" (It breaks my heart) His mom still alive and I believe she is doing just fine. 3. His Dad liver cancer was after their debut. That time their group is still struggling to prove themselves. Receiving hate and backlash from left and right. His Dad still alive and seems like his doing good. PS: Suga is so brave. Not anyone has the courage to be open and share their private life and dark past. He put all his suffering and traumas in to his craft. And in a way, it became a therapy for him. But he is OK now. Please react also to "SNOOZE". One of my favorite from Suga's D-Day Album. (He cried his heart out singing this live on the D-Day tour Final concert in Seoul) D-Day: The trilogy of AgustD. The battle of Min YoonGI. The story of his life. Now he's healed. He's freed.
@@TripTipsPodcast Yes, indeed. As a 48 Army single Mom, I only can add that listen all the 4 solo songs of Jin, Suga, J-Hope and Jimin after Jin entered to the military service had helped me to confirm how real and talented Souls they are. They chose these songs to Say Goodbye to Army, so imagine how important those pieces of Art mean for them. I can't tell nobody how miserable my daughter and myself lives were since she was born...so I found a real family to do it: Army. I don’t believe anyone is ever completely healed from depression and anxiety, but you can learn ways to deal with it and work through it. I believe he is in a good place now I his mental state.
So many people have explained this so well so I won’t add to that except to say that the members have always been very supportive and extra careful with Suga. He also had his appendix out in 2013 and the members all visited him in hospital. For his shoulder surgery he was absent from November 2021 until end January 2021 and in all then performances BTS did in that time they left his space empty and in all interviews they had cut outs of Suga or photos so he was with them. Jimin even phoned him during their award speech for MAMA that year so he could thank fans and phoned him in Run BTS episodes 128 and they called him again in Run 143 and in the Comeback Live Life Goes On. They included him in almost everything they could. Jimin phoned Suga just as he was about to go down for surgery and when he was awake afterwards and would go with him to physio. In Seasons Greeting 2022 Jimin gave Suga the title of self development as he saw all his physio therapy and how hard he worked to get fit after surgery. During that time of recovery the members were always thinking of him. When they were rehearsing for their Black swan performance RM, Jimin and V were all saying how much they missed him and how empty it felt without him, Jimin even got teary. When he came back they were all so protective of his shoulder too. They really are a family. They were like that too for Jin when he injured his finger in April last year and had surgery, when he couldn’t dance at the Grammys Jimin said BTS were incomplete without Jin and they were only BT without him and Taehyung told him off when he said he was a hindrance to them in their Las Vegas concerts…… they are sooo close it is inspiring. There are so many more incidents like that……..
Hi, guys. The scar is a mental scar that was also made as a defense mechanism. I guess a psychologist could explain it better, sorry. But basically Yoongi creates Agust D on a personal level to be able to save himself and on an artistic level to be able to express himself in ways that he cannot with BTS due to the difference in music, content and audience, although now that doesn't matter much because we all love Yoongi's music . All those things really happened, and Yoongi has been through more than what is shown in the video. You might be interested to know that in this video he doesn't get out (white door) but on his last day of concert, he went out through a white door that represents this, which means that he is now free and at peace with himself. Thanks for reacting guys. Kisses from Argentina. Borahae 💜.
This is my favourite song on the D-Day album, the melodic rapping with Yoongi’s vocals are truly a beautiful mix and this performed live on stage at the D-Day Concerts were amazing.
To answer your question in 6:33...The amygdala is a part of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes. The name amygdala is derived from the Greek word amygdale, meaning “almond,” owing to the structure's almond-like shape (you can actually see Suga in some scenes eating almonds!). It is responsible for the perception of emotions such as anger, fear, and sadness, as well as the controlling of aggression. The amygdala helps to store memories of events and emotions so that an individual may be able to recognize similar events in the future.
@@TripTipsPodcast the part of the pills , weren’t like ilegal drugs lol those were his prescription cuz of his depression and anxiety , he couldn’t sleep on those times. But you know those pills also affect you emotionally. Actually his ex old friend got arrested cuz of illegal drugs , he talked about it in his song “Dear my friend”. How he went to visit him in jail and all of that.
If RM's "Wild flower" is heartbreakingly beautiful, SUGA/Agust D's "Amygdala" is heart-wrenching and straight pierce to the heart. As mentioned in the comments, it's his story as Min Yoongi himself. In order: Daechwita > Haegeum > last is Amygdala. This is the origin of the scar, it's self-inflicted. This live version on his last day of his D-DAY The Final concert hits different.. all members have struggled but I think Yoongi had it the most and he doesn't just open up to anyone.. so for him to write a song and share this to us takes grace and courage. D-DAY is a masterpiece.
His parents survived and are healthy now. Because he was poor, Yoongi was a delivery man during his trainee days and on a rainy night in 2012, was hit by a car. The accident dislocated his shoulder, but he didn't tell Big Hit for fear of being kicked out of the band. Some time later, because of the pain, he told about it and the company paid for his schooling and treated him. But he only had surgery in 2020, so he performed for eight years with the pain, supporting it with injections. The pills you see in the mv are either pain killers or anti-depressants. Agust D has as many aggressive as emotional songs. It often makes me cry... I propose The last, So far away, Dear my friend, People (my fav), Snooze,..
I’ve never seen anything that shows how it feels to be trapped in your head in your memories as this does. It also stresses the need to stop ignoring it and unpack all the bad things to get over them. It’s a difficult but hauntingly perfect song. Live it was almost devastating in the final show of his tour that he couldn’t make it through this song and was in near tears the whole song while playing guitar. YET at the end of the final concert he walks out the Amygdala door finally free of all this pain and walking into a better place. It’s one of the most beautifully triumphant moments I’ve seen (again the final 3 songs are 3 of his most emotional songs and he was physically and emotional exhausted and cried on stage through all 3 songs). But he is strong he walked out that door. I respect and love him so much and he’s taught me a lot.
Thanks for checking this out. He has said the "scar" represents the scars we carry in life based on experiences, our own decisions, etc. It can represent the pain that we often carry that people can't see, the baggage we carry, the ways we put ourselves down or cause "self harm" in physical and non-physical ways. He doesn't actually have a physical scar there. Sometimes the "scars" are emotional, psychological, spiritual, etc. Sometimes we don't recognize ourselves, or who it is that we want to become. While he does have some music that isn't necessarily "deep,' it often is but he also likes others to interpret it for themselves and find their own connections to the music, lyrics, etc. Thanks again!
I believe this song is showing how yoongi compartmentalized all of his trauma and how his alter ego Agust D was born to help him deal with all the emotions that he was going through during this time. As you can see the scar is there and is fresh, while in daechwita it is still in the process of healing will in haegeum the scar is healed and how the "new" Agust D doesn't have a scar. So in it a sense i see it has Yoongi saying that he doesn't need Agust D anymore. And this album is a way of saying goodbye and thank you to him for helping him during those times. As for his parents his mom had the heart surgery soon after he was born but when he was a child sitting with her he could hear her pacemaker. His dad was of course will he was training and working in BTS. The "I dont know your name" I think he is talking about Agust D since he didn't have a name for him yet. Another song that delves into him more personally is 'The Last" and 'Dear My Friend'
In his last live show he was extremely emotional in Dear My Friend and ARMY helped him. RM performed with him for that show and JHope and Jin got permission to be there from the military. Please watch this live💜
The amygdala is a part of the brain that processes primal emotions like fear, stress and anger, and is heavily related to trauma or ptsd symptoms. In yoongis case, he's basically begging the most primal part of his brain to stop messing with him and save him.
hello, the mother had heart surgery after his birth and he blamed himself since he was a child because his mother's health worsened during his pregnancy. Dad got cancer when he was filming Bon Voyage in Malta and left the show halfway through to go back to Korea. the accident he was still in training the company was about to go bankrupt and he took a delivery job for an income, he worked for years taking medication and giving injections to cope with the pain and he got to the point where he couldn't lift his shoulder and he did surgery in the pandemic. his parents are alive, when he was a teenager he already tried to commit suicide he says this in a song THE LAST had social phobia. There's a D-DAY documentary on Disney, it's worth watching.
All this in the early days. His hardest decision was to keep working in music, not knowing if they would succeed, especially with his shoulder injury. Or to quit and try to support his family with a regular job. It's why he goes hard against haters. He had much more important things to deal with than online bullying.
A great reaction gentlemen. Yoongi´s music is indeed deep and very introspective, even his hard hitting aggressive tracks are full of deep thoughts and nuggets of truth. His discography is wild, wide and at times shockingly personal. Always great though. I do not know a single dull, shallow, empty song. Yoongi composes, writes and produces most of his tracks himself, a full control of his own artistry kinda guy. If you are interested to hear more from him, just start digging , his three mix tapes are all stellar. Some from his most iconic tracks > AgustD, The Last, So far away ( from his first AgustD mix tape - 2015); Daechwita, What do you think, Moonlight, Strange, Burn it, Dear my friend ( from his second D-2 mixtape - 2020); Haegeum, Snooze, Amygdala, Polar Night, Huh, D-day ( from his last mixtape D-day - 2023) He also has some great solo stuff as Suga of BTS > Seesaw, Interlude:Shadow, First Love, Never mind He has also produced for other BTS members and other Kpop stars ( also some international artists). Last but not least Samsung hand picked him to create a new tune for their signature tone. Enjoy :-)
*My own thoughts on Agust D's Triloogy:* Yoon-gi has shared his mental health issues with us since the beginning, and he stated how some of his roughest times were in the early days, like from 2014 to 2016, how he developed social anxiety at age 18, he was dealing with depression and OCD. BTS had hate coming at them from all angles, and it took a toll on them in the early years. So hearing all the other things he was dealing with as well, just puts things into perspective. He's such a strong person. In the making video, he said the scars we create are of our own making. So the best way for him to represent that was the way that he did with the scar on his face. And the medicine he took was for his condition. He talked about how he saw a psychiatrist and his parents went with him, and they said they didn't know who he was anymore. This was in "The Last" from his first mixtape Agust D. He said how could anyone know him when he doesn't know himself, so that phrase "I don't know your name" made sense to me. Looking back at repressed memories. Thankfully he got through all of it, and now is healed to a certain degree. I see the rain as a shift., He also talked about "What doesn't kill you make you stronger", and he is now blooming like a lotus flower. The lotus flower is very resilient, and can grow in mud and water, like on a lake or pond. So I see the rain as cleansing, and healing. He also said in the behind the scenes on Daechwita, that the mad King was the Agust D from his first Mixtape in 2016, and the peasant was from his 2020 mixtape D-2. You can see the scar is very raw in that video on both of them, maybe slightly less for the 2020 Agust D. In Haegeum, i interpret it as Agust D from 2020 is the Police detective/corrupt Boss, with the partially healed scar, and the Agust D that kills, and steals the money with no scar is D-Day Agust D. The one that is mostly healed and is talking about freedom. (Do we ever completely heal from our scars?) In an interview with IU, and in the D-Day film, he talks about how he was very angry and now he has forgiven the haters and is living in the present. So his music moving forward may not have the angry vibe that we have seen in the past. But he is definitely not done yet
Sugas parents are still alive. Suga still struggles with mental illness from time to time. Mental illness doesn’t always go away. He also has ocd and still has social anxiety to an extent. I’m sure he’s found his way to cope and maybe does therapy. I still believe he does physical therapy for his shoulder. He says every 3 months or so he goes through mental stuff but he’s much better now
I think he said that he goes through it/it gets harder on his mental health every 2 years and that it comes and goes. Could be wrong but that's what I remember him saying
Suga took this track on tour. The final concert in Seoul showed him finally opening the door and going through, showing that he has healed from the trauma that he previously experienced. When i first heard this track it was a gut punch. I couldn't help but cry. It helped me process my own traumatic life experiences. I'll always be grateful to Suga/Agust D for that.
I don't know your name, my interpretation is the either the person he is because of the pain or the person that's trapped in his head that can't get out...
Being 2 rock fans, Jack in the Box and D-2 are what I would strongly put forth. These are solo albums of J-Hope and Suga (Agust D). There is a full performance video on BangtanTV of J-Hope Live at Lollapalooza 2022 you can watch. He is solo on that. I am hoping performances from Suga's global tour will be uploaded soon. @@TripTipsPodcast Hello! More power to you both just want to say that before anything else. I did see a reaction to a few songs from the lollapalooza concert. Not sure where the vid was from but the BangtanTV should be better quality since that is an official channel of BTS. Anyway, will be back for Amygdala.
He was a trainee when he had the accident, and he was afraid he would be fired if he told the company. So he didn't tell anyone. He made up a story about falling down the stairs to the guys. He was a baby when his mom had her surgery, parents were sick, during the time he was with BTS, but they are okay now. He never got his shoulder treated until 2020 when the pandemic gave them time off. He had corrective surgery, and was in rehab for his shoulder for about 3 months or so. The pills were his medication, and I don't know if he took too many, but I'm not going to assume that. He's good now. It takes courage to tell your story. I think I don't know your name means that those were repressed memories, and he doesn't know that person, like he doesn't know himself. You won't get his private family personal information from the rise of Bangtan. You will get his information with BTS and the company, and some emotional moments, but we didn't know his personal information unless he tells us. His parents are fine. He just talked about staying with them when he finished his world tour, and he had a bad cold so they told him to stay in bed and get better. I think that was in Suchwita with the Jungkook episode. If you haven't watched that, It's good. All the members except V has been on the show, and V will be next I believe.
“I don’t know your name.” Probably refers to losing who you were and not knowing who you’ve become. Trauma wipes away innocence. I’ve experienced that. Your soul breaks and you aren’t the same person. Cancer and a few years of painful events and loss has changed me fundamentally. I don’t know this person that I am now.
I don't know your name is talking about his personas. Min Yoongi, his birth name , Suga his stage name, and Agust D his alter ego for his solo work. Yes Min Yoongi went thru all of thisl. To really understand his emotional journey from the depths of depression, struggling with identity "artist" v "idol", to resolution being proud of all that exists within himself, and being able to accept the title of Idol, you need to listen to "The Last" and "First Love ". Suga being raw vulnerable, honest and amazing. Those two songs made Min Yoongi my forever bias 💜 .
Everybody gave you good background and comments to this I just want to say that in his recent world tour, the last concert in Korea finished with him being able to open the closed door in the video and finally resolve the issue that has been traumatizing him.
At the last concert of his recent tour there was a door on stage like the one that appears in the video. At the very end he finally goes through the door and closes it, signifying the closing of this chapter of his life. Suga indicated that August D might not appear again. When asked in an interview with IU if future albums might go by the name SUGA he said ''That was very sharp of you. Once Agust D’s trilogy comes to an end, it might be hard to see him again… That’s what I’m thinking for now.''
Yes, he is Min Yoongi, but also SUGA and then he created AgustD to vent all this out. It has been an incredible healng journey for him. This las concert from Agust D he finally got through the door meaning he has healed a lot of stuff. Maybe he doesn´t need Agust D no more. Yes, he was a trainee and sureley he hd a rough time, being an adolescent, then an idosl, then such a harworker. We are happy to see him very happy and emotionally ver stable, very mature. Smiling a lot, being such an extrovert now.
When he was a trainee Suga had no money so worked patttime as a delivery driver even though the company had forbidden it. In the accident the car crushed his shoulder. He dare not tell what had happened because he thought they would sack him, so he said he fell downstairs. He self treated with painkollers but over the years his shoulder got worse till he could hardly move it. Eventually he owned up to what had happened (maybe 2019) and waz given many months off for major surgery and rehabilitation. The scar in the movies is symbolic. Now that he is about to join the army it is thought he will have to do a non combat job because of his surgery. His parents are still there.
That's not true he told the company predebut after a little while since his motorcycle accident took place and they said to him that he should have told them sooner so they took care of him as best as they could and paid for his education since that was one of his major concerns back then
Min yoongi is my favorite idol. He passed through a lot of things and yet always showed his best side being a member of bts. He was seeing as cold, but in my opinion he is one of the sweetest and sincere member.
All this happened during his career . Jin found him when he attempted this . His dad was diagnosed during his touring . The Ami.. is a small piece on your brain that keeps memories ..,. look it up lol At his 28 solo concerts in 2023 , his final concert he goes through a door showing that he overcame all his struggles . Yes his parents are both alive . This is the final song in the trilogy so no more August D. There is a documentary on Disney plus of Suga’s making of his album D-Day and his lyrical journey . He is a master lyrical genius if don’t know this . Thanks for reacting ❤
Have you guys listened to Agust D's Snooze (ft. WOOSUNG) yet? It's a beautiful song, although there is no official MV, just a fan-made one. Yoongi wrote it to encourage new and aspiring artists. And Woosung's vocals really compliment the song and makes it perfect 😁
He has openly said that he had medication for mental health and he advocates for mental health. He also had to get treatments for his shoulder while touring and would have had medication. I don’t think he had an addiction. I think the pills here show time going by as he just survives. The Amygdala is a small part of the brain that stores trauma and it builds fear around things to protect you in the future. All three videos he has had two versions of himself. In this one he is trying to process and integrate the parts of him that have been pushed down. You have to love that part of yourself and just let it be part of you or say goodbye to it. The way I see it is we have versions of ourself that we let go of all the time, who you would have been, what you should have done. You make mistakes. You forgive yourself and in a way, you have to be thankful that a part of you stepped up and handled the trauma. This song was part of his process and he said it was hard for him to write. It really made me think of a lot my stuff. It’s amazing how you can find connection in someone else’s story when they are so different from you but it helped me remember things I haven’t thought of in years. The scar is an outward representation of showing pain on the inside, and not real but I am sure there are people who do have scars and that is why it had a self harm message. TY as always ❤
Looks like Army answered a lot for y’all ….. I’ll just include this: “I don’t know your name” I believe is him asking “who am I”. Min Yoongi - given name Suga - BTS name AgusTD - the name he created to vent, to help, to heal, to share, and to slay the haters…
he was a delivery guy during his trainee days, the attempted suicide 😢 was with pills . The cutting part is not real but metaphorically ( thus the scar in the other two August D MV). Suga had suffered from depression and panic attacks in the past. He endured much pain from his shoulder during BTS career . It wasn’t until 2019 or 2020 that he finally got surgery . He didn’t tell the company when he had this accident because he wasn’t supposed to be working .
The accident was during his trainee days, he needed money and worked as a delivery guy and that's when have the accident. He didn't say anything to the company fearing they would let him go. Since they were debuting he couldn't fix his shoulder and endure years of pain. The pills is no like popping for fun; he was in constant pain. He was able to performed surgery on 2020. His scar is an emotional scar, not a physical. And in the lyrics he said he was working and received a call that his father was sick w cancer, so yes , everything happen while being bts member, and he was really young to carried all that.
Yes it was a motorcycle, he was a delivery boy , it was a hit and run. He never said a word about it as they were about to debut and he feared they wouldn't let him carry on in the group. His injury was really bad and he didn’t have money either for treatments. He carry on practicing as the others, enduring a huge amount of pain. He finally told the guys and the company on 2020, he sufer alone for 8 years almost.
In his D Day concert...in the Final Last day.... he ended it by opening that door... so it is so emotional for those who know the amygdala mv... and it is symbolic that he finally able to go out
Agreed. We just did the whole entire concert live on kick a few nights ago. Unreal performance by Suga. I almost cried when he was singing on stage for a couple of the really sad songs
@@TripTipsPodcast He lied to the agency about the accident because he is afraid they will kick him out. So he bear the pain dancing with the damaged shoulder for long time.. when bighit find out they sent him for surgery and he did some therapy for the shoulder.. you can see some concerts where he is dancing with painful shoulder he is trying to bear it
The amygdala is the part of the brain where the flight or fight portion is located. PTSD is a great example of something handled by the amygdala. During his last concert I understand he put all of this to bed by walking through the door on stage.
Hello there thank you for your love and support for me and my career🎼, I hope that you will not stop supporting me😊💕💕 I am really very pleased that all of you have been around all these years of my career.I appreciate your support and warm comments, I want to say thank you very much I humbly appreciate you, and also have a blessed week God bless you✌️✌️ where are you from…? 💞🎼🪕🫂🌺💐
Some comments covered your questions pretty well, but just to clarify shortly about the accident: as a trainee he was working delivery particularly to cover for his school fees, as you already know he left against his parents so he had no choice. So he worked, trained for whole days to debut and studied at the same time. He was probably exhausted out of his mind when the accident happened. A car hit his scooter, crashing his shoulder. Like others said, he didn’t tell anybody despite pain because he was afraid the company will let him go, kpop world is harsh and doesn’t wait, there are always other kids waiting for your spot in debut lineup. He was terrified that this is the end and he’d have to go back to selling songs he’d be constantly ripped off on, that his dreams end there. But in the end he couldn’t bear it and he told the company. Instead of throwing him out, the company covered his school fees, despite being a small broke label. They patched him up best they could, and he had an expensive surgery 8 years later, leaving group schedules for 2 months. BTS carried his photo everywhere though, like saps they are. They even added his VR hologram to their 2020 MAMA live performance. which probably costed a fortune
My favorite agust d song❤❤❤ he is so talented and deep. I love the way he thinks. You guys should check out snooze too. There are so many great agust d songs you haven't heard yet. His lyrics are so powerful
@@TripTipsPodcast Yes, "Snooze" definitely (off his latest album, D-Day). But in the same video, you can listen to "So Far Away" first (part of which is like a precursor to Snooze) - the version with Jin and Jungkook th-cam.com/video/HU6hZLY4qGk/w-d-xo.html. This was a song Suga originally produced featuring a Korean female vocalist called Suran, but I prefer the version with Jin and Jungkook which was released for free as a gift for Army (maybe during one of their anniversary "festas"). For Snooze, I recommend this nicely edited fan MV th-cam.com/video/zCNqdvR9e_w/w-d-xo.html which has captions and footage from Suga's documentary following the making of his latest album. We also get to see Woosung (the vocalist from The Rose, featured on the song) as well as legendary Japanese pianist/composer Ryuichi Sakamoto who contributed the piano track. Sadly, Sakamoto passed away just under a month before the album was released (release date 21 April 2023).
Just wanted to add that the scenes of "pill-popping" in this video likely aren't about recreational drug use but rather they probably refer to the pain-killers he was using habitually to be able to perofrm such intense choreography throughout BTS' career (all while dealing with a shoulder injury from the motorcycle accident that would eventually require surgery to correct). And also, just as a personal interpretation, I've wondered if they could simultaneously represent psychiatric medications like what might be prescribed for depression and anxiety. I dont know if Yoongi has ever taken any medications for such conditions, but he heavily implies in his various works that he has first-hand experience with those kinds of mental health issues.
I think this surprised some people who had Suga pigeonholed as a bad ass rapper. Suga has a number of personal, introspective tracks and a number of sociopolitical tracks which sometimes get lost by even ARMY as most Agust D tracks do not have music videos. For instance, I think Suga's recent struggling to combat his emotions while singing My Dear Friend has become an internet fascination and opportunity to witness just how sentimental a person Suga is. That said, I cannot recall a flood of listeners recommending reactors approach this material when Suga closed his D2 mixtape with this extraordinarily relatable song. Perhaps it did not fit the bad ass image. The only emotional Agust D track that gets pushed is The Last which has a victorious bad ass second verse following its painfully troubled first verse. On the plus side, it was wonderful to see Agust D concert goers who by definition are apex ARMY pick Suga up when he struggled to keep his composure across a set of songs. This made for an endearing moment. But to the point, an imagery has been crafted around Suga which makes him saleable to Western often gender image hamstrung males. His bad ass tracks have been used as a gateway drug into the BTS rabbit hole. The reality is Suga always has been way more complex. For some Amygdala is their first chance to see this.
@D&JReact - Suga's parents are alive and well. This video is a true story. These incidents happened during Suga's BTS journey. Because the company didn't have much money, Suga took on a part time job. That's how he had an accident one day while delivering food and that let to his chronic shoulder injury. Amygdala is the 3rd of a trilogy. The Amygdala is the part of the brain that deals with memories and emotions. Suga reveals (1) his inner thoughts, hurts and demons about what happened to him (2) the creation of his alter ego August D (scar over the eye) (3) the room in the video is from the vantage point of Suga being inside his Amygdala (4) at the end, he tries to change history (not riding his motorcycle and instead running to save himself) but you can't change the past and that is why he couldn't open the door. In Suga's most recent live concert, D-Day The Final Day 3, Suga ends the concert by walking thru the white door - meaning, he's at peace with his past and is moving on. Side Note: I can't remember where I read or heard Suga talk about his shoulder accident but I recall that he suffered in silence for many years while performing with BTS. He was scared to tell Bang PD and the company about his injury because he thought he would be thrown out of the group. So he suffered until it came to a point where he struggle to lift his arm. At which point, he told Bang PD and the company. They were so saddened that he felt all those years that he couldn't tell them, they immediately got him shoulder therapy and set a course for surgery of which they paid for. The surgery happened a couple of years ago. He was missing from some of the award performances but the surgery was successful and the rest is now history.
just a fyi, 1 of the influences for this song was rm watching either president obama speech before the joint session of congress or at the white house correspondence dinner where he dropped the mic
Watching this MV for the first time, I got such a shock with the accident scene and could not stop crying throughout the video. This is definitely my favourite Agust D song without a doubt. Deachwita and Haegum are tied for second... I guess I like dramatic Yoongi. 🤔🤭 Anyhoo, thank you for the reaction!
My suggestion would be for Suga's song 'First Love' which is a symbolic song, you have to read between the lines with that song. But it is a very amazing song and one of my favorites, along side with the song, 'The Last' it also has deep meaning. Both of these songs speak about Suga's past and his life in general. Between his raw lyrics and emotions, I'm not sure which one pulls me in more, or the combination of both. And then have this song 'Amygdala' to add to the list. These are my top fav Suga songs. He is an amazing artist, and I admire his strength and vulnerability.
07:43 first his bike accident happened during his trainee days he's done part time DELIVERY work, Second his mother's operation when suga was still inside the womb of his mother.( not sure before or after DELIVERY). Thirdly he's father has liver cancer...BTS suga was away with his brothers shooting Bon voyage episodes overseas...so he went home for emergency to be with his family....parents are healthy a few months suga's brother got married so there's a photos of his parents in the wedding. ❤
@@TripTipsPodcast - A visual representation of his mental trauma. The Amygdala is a primitive part of the brain where memories and traumatic events are stored. Trauma can cause a lot of serious repercussions with chronic negative and unwanted intrusive thoughts that are very difficult to control, especially without dealing with them in long term therapy. It's hard to explain to people who haven't experienced it.
Min Yoongi works under 3 monikers depending on which type of project he takes. 1. Min Yoongi/ Suga - as part of his core BTS work 2. Suga of BTS - when collaborates with external artists like Halsey Then 3. Agust D - Agust is his alter ago which he uses to tell his personal stories and showcase his personal projects. Min Yoongi do not have a cut over his eyes in real life but some of his music suggest that in past, he has contemplated suicidal thoughts and the cut he makes in MV is represtative of that side of life he expresses through Agust D. The cut just started as a storytelling fearure but evolved as a part of his bigger narrative vision that ties Daechiwita and Haegeum MVs. In closing of his recent concert, he was able to open the door and walk out happily. He has also mentioned that "the cut is now closing and healing" symbolically saying that he is now feeling much better and getting over his past traumas (he was a delivery guy and got into a motocycle accident that badly injured his shoulder and for years he performed with that injury without telling the details to fans so they won't worry) Hope it helps.
It will be interesting to hear what you think of the song. Also, would be great if you looked into some live performances from D-Day tour AgustD wrapped up recently. Some great stuff there with a live rock band accompanying him. He was the first one from BTS to go on a world solo tour ( 28 concerts) and what a tour that was - ICONIC.
Please react to his live DDay tour where he sang Snooze and Dear My Friend. Please find something that has a caption. It's VERY emotional. Fans had to sing some of the lyrics because he broke down. It was painful to watch but it showed his vulnerability. Please watch it.
Yoongi's parents are alive and, in fact, went to the first night of his D-Day The Final concert not too long ago in Seoul, along with Tae's and Jung Kook's parents. He said his mother had heart surgery about a month after he was born, so he probably felt some level of guilt as if he caused that in childbirth. I am not sure when his father's cancer was, but it sounded from the lyrics like it was while he was away performing. His own accident was when he was a trainee and he took a job as a food delivery person because he didn't have much money and BTS was just getting started, and they commonly deliver by motorcycle in S. Korea (at least that's how it is portrayed in K-Dramas). He was afraid to tell the company for fear they would kick him out and not let him continue. He initially told the company and the other members that he fell down the stairs, because he hurt his shoulder so he had to say Something. Years later, he told the truth and it wasn't until late 2020 that he got his shoulder repaired (during the pandemic, while they couldn't tour). He performed all those years -2013 to 2020 - with a bad shoulder. How's that for dedication and drive?!! He has written songs on his earlier mix tapes about depression, but I don't think any of us knew about his mother's and father's conditions and surgeries until this song. Yoongi was a brave sole to disclose all of this and, I believe, this is helping bring closure to that rocky part of his past. He has mentioned that this D-Day album may be the last as Agust D, which I think means he doesn't feel the need any longer to have a 2nd stage name to sing and/or talk about his past like this. In other words, he has or is learning to live with it all now. Your past is always with you.
"during my work schedule I got a call about my father's liver cancer"... just my guess but remember around that time in Bon Voyage in Malta (2018?) where Yoongi had to go home because of some personal issue at home, with undisclosed reason... I don't think Yoongi will leave an overseas filming for a simple personal issue.. i suspect it to be that time.. 😟
@@aarceeandtannies2217 Right! Thank you for the reminder! I'm sure that was probably the timeframe. 2018 was a rough year anyway, and that made it even harder for him.😞
Yes suga’s parents are still alive. As far as a precise timeline idk if we have all the pieces of information. What I do know: His mom had heart problem due to childbirth and had heart surgery while suga was still very young, so suga always felt guilty bc of it. Back when they were just trainees, suga used to work as a delivery boy bc bighit had a very low budget. He got into a car accident and hurt his shoulder pretty bad but didn’t tell anyone, not even the members, bc he was afraid of getting cut bc of the injury. It was very traumatic for him and he couldn’t do deliveries anymore. He told the members he fell down a stairs or something like that. Eventually he told bighit abt it and they ended up helping him by paying for his education or something along those lines. For years suga had a lot of pain on his shoulder and was still performing and giving 100% of himself in the dances. There are some compilations out there of moments he was visibly in pain on stage, grabbing his shoulder, etc. It was only in 2020 that he finally had surgery to fix his shoulder injury. There are some live performances he misses bc of it like the mama 2020 where BTS performed and left his spot vacant in the choreos and had playback of his parts in the songs. Fun fact: all the members have tattoos of a “7” in different parts of their bodies, and suga was the last one to reveal where he got his…his shoulder. He finally showed armys during his last show of the D-Day tour in Seoul, and Jin and J-Hope managed to be there to support him, despite being in the military. RM also performed with him that night and a few hours after it ended bighit announced that suga will be enlisting soon. We don’t know when his dad started going through that bc this is the first time suga has ever mentioned it, but we assume it was a couple of years ago. That’s it. That’s all I got
Amigdala is the part of the brain that store important information, this information is use for a faster reaction of the brain against dangers, trauma...example: because of the amigdala we have a fast reaction to run when we see a snake.
10:50 "if their parents it still alive". Fortunately, they are still alive n they are much better now. Both of his parents coming to BTS concert in 2015 for the first time, and at that time Suga breaking down n crying on stage and give a deep bow to his parents when he sees them at the audition seat. All the bad condition is happened in the past. Suga's mom heart surgery happened when he just born, and his father get sentence have cancer it's when he already grow up (like he tell on his lyrics, he get the news about his father cancer when he at work. But we didn't know it happened if is in his trainee day or after he debut. But Suga have part time job as food delivery when he is in trainee (predebut time) and get accident with car on that time too.
My personal take on the "I don't know your name" line is: He is talking to himself. He doiesn't recognize his former self in the memories he's trying to sort through, and/or he doesn't recognize the person he has become because of all the trauma. I'm sure others have said this, but the scar is not real. It's just a representation of his inner traumas. He has said before that we give ourselves the scars we have, so in this story arc, he is saying that yes, things happened to him, but a lot of it scarred him because he allowed it to. Of course, there are reasons for that, and we ALL do the same thing in our own lives, whether we admit it or not. His accident screwed up his shoulder big time, but he didn't let anyone know about it because he was afraid BigHit would get rid of him cuz he couldn't dance like he used to. Instead, he simply dealt with the pain and continued to dance, etc. When he finally couldn't deal anymore, and he told them what happened, they were pretty great about it, and paid his tuition (which is why he had the delivery job on the side in the first place) and his medical bills. They told him they wanted to pay his tuition so he wouldn't have to work another job. However, he didn't get his shoulder fixed until a few years ago, and unbeknownst to us was doing all these choreos through the pain. Now, his shoulder is good (he got the surgery) and he seems so much happier. Imagine chronic pain for all those years...
he doesnt know the name of his Amygdala (responsible for bad memories). some accidents can trigger OCD (in the case of Yoongi), that harms to a human (self harming - scare - fears from that injure - fear to lose everything - position in the team BTS - he said about it in Inthe Soop 1 season, due to inability to dance, train, etc...). but on the last concert of the dday, Yoongi opened the door, he got out of those fears - he is healed now (i assume because he was studying a lot about Amygdala - it was in In the Soop staycation show of BTS he started to read the book Amygdala). His mother is well now, she had a heart surgery - one time he heard some ticking (as he singing in this song) when he was leaning on his mother's chest (he said about it in the Road to D day documentary).
If you wanted to dig deeper to his darker side, I'd recommend his song "The Last" from his first mixtape, "Agust D". It has no MV, so if you wanna check that out, you can watch a lyric video. Suga won me over because of how raw his lyrics are. It is so emotional. But if he wanted to go hard (to haters), he also delivers. (:
The scar, represents the way he feels that all scars are self inflicted... you choose to let things turn you into the "mad king" follow up to the other music videos
I don't know if the boxcutter was suicide, but more how the Agust D scar got there. The pill popping might have been from the shoulder pain from his motorcycle accident (which he had as a trainee while doing deliveries to pay for college). He finally had surgery I think in fall of 2020 on his shoulder. I wonder what would have happened to Min Yoongi if he didn't have music to express himself with. I really feel like he's gone thru it and come out the other side.
I think the pills are probably anti depressants because in the behind the scenes he says "I don't know how you guys will feel about me taking pills in my 20's". I'm not sure he would say that about painkillers.
Hi..Thanks for supporting BTS so with regard to ur questions.. - Suga's parents are doing well as of today and there's no news or even stories from Suga that his parents are not OK..on the contrary He'a good with his parents already - Suga's accident happened during his early Training days for BTS meaning they haven't debuted yet and he hid it from tye members and the company bcoz he is afraid they will kick him out of the group for his injury and he only had his surgery around late 2021 during the BE Album promo so you will see that in their performances he was.missing - about AUGUST D and his struggles and his journey..SuGA actually put a Closure during the last day in his D-Day Concert where there was the same Door in the MV that they put on the stage that he was able to Open and used as his exit in the stage and its like he was freed from Amygdala and He said in an interview that this was the last of the Trilogy from August D so he was kinda saying that he might move on from the August D persona on the next chapter...Hope that helps💜💜
@@TripTipsPodcast Sometimes people fail to realize just how filial Yoongi is because of yoongi's history of rebelling to his parents and pursue music and they want to box him in cold & savage stereotype.. but yoongi has always been expressive on how he misses his family in their diary logs early years and his songs he often include & listed his family first, in his verse in Road/Path "Without family, lonelily, I greet the third spring in Seoul, I thought all the worries would be gone when the debut gets in front of my nose, To the present with no room for change, I closed my eyes" ; in If I Ruled the World the first in his checklist was "If I ruled the world, I’d first want to go to a realtor and buy a house where I’ll live with my family" ; in Tony Montana he said "I put my family, fan, and the team at the top of my priority".. during AHL (2014) when they were filming in a luxurious hotel w/ a great view, he said "I want to bring my family here".. and in BV S2 (2017?) when they were grouped in pairs and Yoongi & Tae went to a Korean restaurant, upon the sip of the soup Yoongi said in low volume I missed my mom while wiping something in his eyes.. while eating, Tae gave his raw egg for yoongi's soup, Tae might have felt Yoongi's homesickness, yoongi was surprised and asked "are you taking care of me? how did you know I mix raw egg w/ my soup?".. Something common about Yoongi and Tae, aside from they are both from Daegu, they are both the type to have i don't care aura but actually cares & knows everything.
In his last concert in Seoul D DAY encore BTS Suga finally opened the door...he's now FREE❤...in this MV he can't open the door for some reasons he's mental health, worries...etc.
He was a part time delivery guy when he was a trainee because he was poor and had school and expenses. He got hit by a car I believe when it was raining out. And literally tore his shoulder. And never told anyone because he was afraid he would be kicked out of the company, and he knew it was music or nothing. So he went years with that shoulder, dance practice and performances with tons of pain. In 2020 he finally had surgery because he could no longer hold a bottle of water. It was a traumatic time for him
amygdala, (a-MIG-delah) region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes. The name amygdala is derived from the Greek word amygdale, meaning “almond,” owing to the structure's almondlike shape. The amygdala is located in the medial temporal lobe, just anterior to (in front of) the hippocampus.
he’s family fine rn month ago was he’s old brother wedding and his dad n mom was so fine, the scar is not real it’s like a pain he got from suffering about his life + he was delivery man when the accident happened but he did surgery 2020 after suffering for years
After his birth his mother had the heart operation and he blamed himself for her heart problem just because he was born. His Father's Liver Cancer was while he was away on tour. His accident was while he was doing part time delivery job as a Trainee at BigHit before their Debut, he didn't tell them what happened or how much pain he was in because he was afraid he'd not be able to debut. Most of the time he was in a lot of pain as that injury never healed properly and over time got even worse until he had to have a shoulder operation which he had in Covid. He doesn't have a physical scar on his face in the MV it's a representation of the scars trauma leaves on people. He suffered a lot both phyically and mentally. He even raps about his family taking him to theory in one song and the talks about being unable to go on stage and hidding away in a toilet (bathroom for Americans). The 'I don't know your name' I think is a reference to when his parents took him to the theory session and his father said 'He didn't know him anymore' and he told the Theorist 'how can he know me I don't know myself' Oh yes both his parents recovered and are well.
I don't know if old time ARMYs already know about his parents' health condition but as far as I know, he only opened up through this song. All I know was his motorcycle accident which happened during his trainee days and he has to go through intense dance practices with dislocated shoulders. After they debuted, he still suffers from the pain caused by that accident. He is sometimes seen stretching his shoulders on stage when his part is over. He only had a shoulder surgery in late 2019 to prepare for military service (the dedication to his country though). About the line of this song that goes "I don't know your name" is probably about his depression caused by all his struggles that even made him consider to commit suicide (thankfully, he didn't). He also went to a doctor regarding his mental health. In his song "The Last", he was talking about how his parents no longer know who he is and he also said, he doesn't even know himself anymore. Edit: Yes, SUGA's parents are both alive. They recently attended the wedding of SUGA's big brother this year.
Just a small correction Suga's surgery was at the end of 2020. One of the few good things about the pandemic is it allowed Suga the time to get his surgery and recover. Suga mentioned his mom's heart problem before in the song Moving On from 2015.
Yoongi is the strongest person i know he went through 7 years giving his best on stage performing making music achieving his dreams with injured shoulder but he finally got his surgery in 2020 ❤ i wish all the best for him alwayss he is literally such a strong person amygdala is literally his life story what he actually went through and uk he ended his Dday tour with exiting the door in this mv like he finally set himself free ❤😭 His parents are well and alive ❤ wishing good health for them
While experiencing all this trauma, he come up with this alter ego, Agust D, who was angrier more direct, this other alter ego is what we see in his videos with the scar. From my point of view when he says I don't know your name, is referring to: he doesn't recognize himself.. like who is this person? The whole song is about himself what he went through and how he got stucked in that place for years.
I highly recommend you watch the August D Amigdala explained by Bookish Theories, you will find the answers to all your questions regarding this video. Good Job guys!

For "i dont know ur name" part, i dont know if this the right answer for Suga case, but as someone who also have past trauma, pain n scar myself i think i can understand it. Ur trauma, pain n mentally wounds that been builds up so many years, eventually will make "another me" to handle that scar n pain that "the real me" couldn't handle it yet. This "another me" will have different personality that can be the opposite of "the real me". Such as, if "the real me" is have soft, obedience, weak, scared etc, then "the another me" that we created in order to handle the problem will become a different personality, it will become more tougher, rebellious, brave etc. But deeply we know, that is fake. But if we get used with "the another me" for a long time, it will become part of ourself or even we can get confused which one is our real self (the two personality become intertwined). In some cases, there is people who more like their "another self" n ignored their real self but there is also people who despise their "another self" but they cant do anything beside to keeps wear it because they need that "the another self" to handle their problem n pain. But, deep inside, we know which one is our trueself (it depend if we acknowledge it or denied it), so the "another me" is not the real me. They are part of me but they are not the real me. Because they are not the real me, hence, it like "I dont know ur name. U are me.. but also not me." Sometimes, if this another me is in intense level, it can led people having mental personality disorder that we called DID or multiple personality in their subconscious. And that the time, for the fake personality or "the other me" have their own name that separated with our identity. But for people who didnt have that intense split personality disorder, that "another me" it still didnt have a name. We still recognize in our consciousness "the another me" is part of us, but in same time, it's also not our trully self and we know it but we still using it as part of our life. Hence,, "the another me" didnt have any name. Sorry if u get confused if i cant explained it well beside english is not my first language too lol.. but hope u can understand it ^__^
Yes he got into the accident when he was training and he didn't mention it to anybody because he thought that they will kick him out of bts thinking he is a burden and i think his dad also happened in that period of time because it is the first time he revealed it. And about his mom his mom had a heart problem after she gave birth to him so he always thought that he is the reason his mom is ill. Yes his parents are alive and healthy now.
“I don’t know your name.” He’s goes by so many names, Min Yoongi, Suga, Agust D. He doesn’t know which one is the more real him anymore. It could also be something like you don’t how to put a name to your depression. Why am I sad? Just a thought.
Everyone is doing a great job in the comments with the explanations. I would like to add that the scar is obviously symbolic throughout the 3 vids. His battle with himself and trying to stay sane and grounded unlike the mad king and the head of the police force. Think of movies like Fight Club and Batman with Heath Ledger’s Joker. The Joker was trying to fix all the injustice and wrong in the world and society but ofc was a madman and went about it in the wrong way. These guys make you think they don’t just rap, sing, and dance. The running storyline throughout their songs AND even in their solo projects all connect and come back to the BTS Universe story. The story is insane… I hope they make a movie because it’s basically the guys caught up in a butterfly effect a continuous time travel loop and from what I’ve come to understand is that no matter how many times Jin groundhog days it he can’t them u till they truly learn to love themselves.
I would like to mention that You guys are missing out on Everglows comeback. Plus, the GG (girl group) XG. XG never misses and Everglow is killing it. Just a suggestion! TY for taking the time to show love to BTS. Especially now with all the Scooter Braun drama. I believe the guys knew this was coming when they decided to go on a well deserved break. BTS had mentioned on several occasions that they would most likely go into the military at the same time. But the industry makes more off solo acts then groups. I actually follow you on two accounts now.
I donated GF and I keep trying to sign up but I think it’s the trial thing? I don’t know… Anyways, I hope you will continue to show love to the boys until their comeback. Thank you!
I see Amygdala as the first in the trilogy the scar is fresh as he made it in the video, by Haegeum the scar has faded significantly. In the video it looks like Yoongi caused the accident but the reality is much darker, it was raining he set out to deliver the food but the driver hit him then left the scene, I guess he thought that would be too upsetting for the music video? He told members and the agency he fell down stairs, he was afraid if they knew he was working a part time job he'd be replaced and it would have all been for nothing.
@@TripTipsPodcast the company found out much earlier than the members, the company said to yoongi that he should have told the company sooner coz they will wait for him if necessary, the company paid for yoongi's education so that yoongi will not worry abt it anymore..
Actually he does not have scar on his face in real it just for the music video. As you know Suga aka agust D is best rapper of BTS., so this song is actualy is about how the scar was born on his face , its prequel to other two songs. Basically you have watch it in pattern like amgydala , daechwita and then haegum like this the story is build in his music video. Also if you don't what amydala is acually a part on brain a almond like structure which stores your fears and memories.
That's a great explanation 💜
Glad he recovered and his parents are alive and well 🙏😊💜
Yea very good thank you 🙏
Couldn’t have put it any better!
But recently he has shown us, that nowadays he is much better:
at the end of his last concert in Seoul they put up a door on the stage and after saying his goodbyes, he opened it, turned to the audience and left through that door.
This symbolic gesture gave such relief.
That’s amazing 😊💜😊💜
It made him think "Was it right that I was born?" (It breaks my heart)
His mom still alive and I believe she is doing just fine.
(He cried his heart out singing this live on the D-Day tour Final concert in Seoul)
D-Day:
The trilogy of AgustD. The battle of Min YoonGI.
The story of his life. Now he's healed. He's freed.
thank you for providing some insights!
Yea he’s so vulnerable. That’s why he’s so relatable

That’s sad 😞

Thanks for the explanation 💜👍

Yea it was a sad song for me. It was so real.
That’s good to hear
I’ve only scratched the surface of his songs
@@beany1944 Careless error... Corrected!
Couldn’t imagine being trapped in my head. That’s a nightmare
Thanks for your explanation 👍💜👍💜
Thanks for explaining
In his last live show he was extremely emotional in Dear My Friend and ARMY helped him. RM performed with him for that show and JHope and Jin got permission to be there from the military. Please watch this live💜
@@Ween4ever yes I watched the final on livestream and was just balling my eyes out the entire last half of the concert

Thanks we’ll check it out
I suggust you can listen" The Last " , this is the first song about him
Okay 👍
All this in the early days. His hardest decision was to keep working in music, not knowing if they would succeed, especially with his shoulder injury. Or to quit and try to support his family with a regular job.
It's why he goes hard against haters. He had much more important things to deal with than online bullying.
He’s a legend
A great reaction gentlemen.
Yoongi´s music is indeed deep and very introspective, even his hard hitting aggressive tracks are full of deep thoughts and nuggets of truth.
His discography is wild, wide and at times shockingly personal. Always great though. I do not know a single dull, shallow, empty song. Yoongi composes, writes and produces most of his tracks himself, a full control of his own artistry kinda guy.
If you are interested to hear more from him, just start digging , his three mix tapes are all stellar.
Some from his most iconic tracks > AgustD, The Last, So far away ( from his first AgustD mix tape - 2015); Daechwita, What do you think, Moonlight, Strange, Burn it, Dear my friend ( from his second D-2 mixtape - 2020); Haegeum, Snooze, Amygdala, Polar Night, Huh, D-day ( from his last mixtape D-day - 2023)
He also has some great solo stuff as Suga of BTS > Seesaw, Interlude:Shadow, First Love, Never mind
He has also produced for other BTS members and other Kpop stars ( also some international artists).
Last but not least Samsung hand picked him to create a new tune for their signature tone.
Enjoy :-)
We’ll definitely have to check out all of these suggestions. Thanks for sharing 😊💜😊💜
*My own thoughts on Agust D's Triloogy:*
Yoon-gi has shared his mental health issues with us since the beginning, and he stated how some of his roughest times were in the early days, like from 2014 to 2016, how he developed social anxiety at age 18, he was dealing with depression and OCD.
Such an interesting explanation and breakdown. Thanks for sharing this with us 😊💜😊💜
Sugas parents are still alive. Suga still struggles with mental illness from time to time. Mental illness doesn’t always go away. He also has ocd and still has social anxiety to an extent. I’m sure he’s found his way to cope and maybe does therapy. I still believe he does physical therapy for his shoulder. He says every 3 months or so he goes through mental stuff but he’s much better now
Glad they are still alive 🙏😊💜
I think he said that he goes through it/it gets harder on his mental health every 2 years and that it comes and goes. Could be wrong but that's what I remember him saying

Suga took this track on tour. The final concert in Seoul showed him finally opening the door and going through, showing that he has healed from the trauma that he previously experienced.
When i first heard this track it was a gut punch. I couldn't help but cry. It helped me process my own traumatic life experiences. I'll always be grateful to Suga/Agust D for that.

Thanks for your detailed response and explanation 👍💜👍💜
“I don’t know your name.” Probably refers to losing who you were and not knowing who you’ve become. Trauma wipes away innocence. I’ve experienced that. Your soul breaks and you aren’t the same person. Cancer and a few years of painful events and loss has changed me fundamentally. I don’t know this person that I am now.

@SUGABTS3 please don’t catfish. Hybe just issued a statement to those pretending to be BTS that you will be sued. 👍

That’s An amazing way to end the concert
At the last concert of his recent tour there was a door on stage like the one that appears in the video. At the very end he finally goes through the door and closes it, signifying the closing of this chapter of his life. Suga indicated that August D might not appear again.
When asked in an interview with IU if future albums might go by the name SUGA he said ''That was very sharp of you. Once Agust D’s trilogy comes to an end, it might be hard to see him again… That’s what I’m thinking for now.''
💜👍

Guys a legend
That's not true he told the company predebut after a little while since his motorcycle accident took place and they said to him that he should have told them sooner so they took care of him as best as they could and paid for his education since that was one of his major concerns back then
Min yoongi is my favorite idol. He passed through a lot of things and yet always showed his best side being a member of bts. He was seeing as cold, but in my opinion he is one of the sweetest and sincere member.
Yea plus he’s been through a lot
All this happened during his career . Jin found him when he attempted this . His dad was diagnosed during his touring . The Ami.. is a small piece on your brain that keeps memories ..,. look it up lol
At his 28 solo concerts in 2023 , his final concert he goes through a door showing that he overcame all his struggles . Yes his parents are both alive .

Excellent explanation 👍💜👍💜
@SUGABTS3 are you talking to us or bluehourtarot?
Looks like Army answered a lot for y’all ….. I’ll just include this: “I don’t know your name” I believe is him asking “who am I”.

Suga - BTS name
AgusTD - the name he created to vent, to help, to heal, to share, and to slay the haters…

I always cry when I watch this MV......because this personal life of Yoongi him self
Hits you hard 😢
he was a delivery guy during his trainee days, the attempted suicide 😢 was with pills .
Thanks for the info 😊💜😊💜
There was never anything that said or even suggested what you said in that first sentence, he never talked about that.
Thanks for the explanation
Thank you for your reaction! The I don’t know your name, I believe is the referring to the voices in his head. This always makes me cry. 💜

The amygdala is the part of the brain where the flight or fight portion is located. PTSD is a great example of something handled by the amygdala. During his last concert I understand he put all of this to bed by walking through the door on stage.

God the more I hear stories like this the more I love their label and BTS as a whole.

Sadly, Sakamoto passed away just under a month before the album was released (release date 21 April 2023).

thank you for your reaction. I love this song so much. I think you guys would love "snooze" as well. It has a classic rock vibe
No problem😊 yea this song is great! We will check out snooze
Oh I see.
He feels very distant from his past self, the version of him that was still not scarred by life- that’s what he means by “I don’t know your name”

He was really vulnerable in this one
I love how he’s vulnerable enough to share those experiences with us through his music 💜😊

just a fyi, 1 of the influences for this song was rm watching either president obama speech before the joint session of congress or at the white house correspondence dinner where he dropped the mic
Watching this MV for the first time, I got such a shock with the accident scene and could not stop crying throughout the video. This is definitely my favourite Agust D song without a doubt. Deachwita and Haegum are tied for second... I guess I like dramatic Yoongi. 🤔🤭
Anyhoo, thank you for the reaction!
Yeah it was a very emotional song. Thanks for watching 😊💜😊💜
His vulnerability is what made me listen to his music

@@TripTipsPodcast - A visual representation of his mental trauma. The Amygdala is a primitive part of the brain where memories and traumatic events are stored. Trauma can cause a lot of serious repercussions with chronic negative and unwanted intrusive thoughts that are very difficult to control, especially without dealing with them in long term therapy. It's hard to explain to people who haven't experienced it.
@@Michelen7 I thought amygdala meant something in the brain
Min Yoongi works under 3 monikers depending on which type of project he takes.
1. Min Yoongi/ Suga - as part of his core BTS work
2. Suga of BTS - when collaborates with external artists like Halsey
Then 3.
That helps a lot thank you🙏💜🙏
It will be interesting to hear what you think of the song.
Also, would be great if you looked into some live performances from D-Day tour AgustD wrapped up recently. Some great stuff there with a live rock band accompanying him.

Thanks for the detailed response and explanation 😊💜😊💜
@DANDJREACT You're welcome

His parents are still alive, thank God. and he has recovered from the surgery
Yes suga’s parents are still alive.
As far as a precise timeline idk if we have all the pieces of information.
What I do know:
His mom had heart problem due to childbirth and had heart surgery while suga was still very young, so suga always felt guilty bc of it.
Glad they are alive and well
Amigdala is the part of the brain that store important information, this information is use for a faster reaction of the brain against dangers, trauma...example: because of the amigdala we have a fast reaction to run when we see a snake.
Thanks for sharing this with us 👍
10:50 "if their parents it still alive".
And both his parents attended his solo concert in Seoul and of course were there when Suga's older brother got married recently.
That’s good to hear they are alive and well
Good reaction, 👍 see you on the next one.❤
Thanks for coming
Makes perfect sense
Thanks for the video reaction. I recommend The last and So far away of Agust D
I will check it out
he doesnt know the name of his Amygdala (responsible for bad memories). some accidents can trigger OCD (in the case of Yoongi), that harms to a human (self harming - scare - fears from that injure - fear to lose everything - position in the team BTS - he said about it in Inthe Soop 1 season, due to inability to dance, train, etc...). but on the last concert of the dday, Yoongi opened the door, he got out of those fears - he is healed now (i assume because he was studying a lot about Amygdala - it was in In the Soop staycation show of BTS he started to read the book Amygdala).
His lyrics are very emotional.
I’ll check out the last

@DANDJREACT yesssss definitely check out the last... it's an emotional life story but it's also aggressive.

The scar, represents the way he feels that all scars are self inflicted... you choose to let things turn you into the "mad king" follow up to the other music videos
Ok will do
I don't know if the boxcutter was suicide, but more how the Agust D scar got there.

- Suga's parents are doing well as of today and there's no news or even stories from Suga that his parents are not OK..on the contrary He'a good with his parents already
- Suga's accident happened during his early Training days for BTS meaning they haven't debuted yet and he hid it from tye members and the company bcoz he is afraid they will kick him out of the group for his injury and he only had his surgery around late 2021 during the BE Album promo so you will see that in their performances he was.missing
- about AUGUST D and his struggles and his journey..SuGA actually put a Closure during the last day in his D-Day Concert where there was the same Door in the MV that they put on the stage that he was able to Open and used as his exit in the stage and its like he was freed from Amygdala and He said in an interview that this was the last of the Trilogy from August D so he was kinda saying that he might move on from the August D persona on the next chapter...Hope that helps💜💜

In the final scene of this D-DAY concert, SUGA opened that door himself and went out
That’s a really cool way to express himself
I cried watching amygdala
😢
It was a traumatic time for him
Sounds rough. Glad he made I through.
amygdala, (a-MIG-delah) region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes. The name amygdala is derived from the Greek word amygdale, meaning “almond,” owing to the structure's almondlike shape. The amygdala is located in the medial temporal lobe, just anterior to (in front of) the hippocampus.
Thanks for explaining
he’s family fine rn month ago was he’s old brother wedding and his dad n mom was so fine, the scar is not real it’s like a pain he got from suffering about his life + he was delivery man when the accident happened but he did surgery 2020 after suffering for years
Good to know💜
After his birth his mother had the heart operation and he blamed himself for her heart problem just because he was born. The 'I don't know your name' I think is a reference to when his parents took him to the theory session and his father said 'He didn't know him anymore' and he told the Theorist 'how can he know me I don't know myself'
Oh yes both his parents recovered and are well.
Glad they are alive and well😊👍💜
I don't know if old time ARMYs already know about his parents' health condition but as far as I know, he only opened up through this song.

Hi guys, Suga (Agust D) don't have a cut on his eye; the scar is something symbolic.
Got it thanks
While experiencing all this trauma, he come up with this alter ego, Agust D, who was angrier more direct, this other alter ego is what we see in his videos with the scar. From my point of view when he says I don't know your name, is referring to: he doesn't recognize himself.. like who is this person? The whole song is about himself what he went through and how he got stucked in that place for years.

U are me.. but also not me."
Sometimes, if this another me is in intense level, it can led people having mental personality disorder that we called DID or multiple personality in their subconscious.
Sorry if u get confused if i cant explained it well beside english is not my first language too lol.. but hope u can understand it ^__^
I see. Thanks for sharing
Yes he got into the accident when he was training and he didn't mention it to anybody because he thought that they will kick him out of bts thinking he is a burden and i think his dad also happened in that period of time because it is the first time he revealed it.

“I don’t know your name.” He’s goes by so many names, Min Yoongi, Suga, Agust D. He doesn’t know which one is the more real him anymore. It could also be something like you don’t how to put a name to your depression. Why am I sad? Just a thought.
His lyrics have so much meaning and depth to them
Everyone is doing a great job in the comments with the explanations.
Edit: Jin can’t save***
A movie at this point would be freakin legendary. I’d watch🤩

That’s good they never found out and fired him
@@TripTipsPodcast the company found out much earlier than the members, the company said to yoongi that he should have told the company sooner coz they will wait for him if necessary, the company paid for yoongi's education so that yoongi will not worry abt it anymore..
