Wonderful to hear about Hamburg. I live in Maryland, USA but used to travel to Hamburg for extended work visits. I stayed and worked in Winterhude, Gertigstrasse 84. So many good memories, wonderful friendship. I came close to being an expatriate and moving to Hamburg for work. Sadly I did not but still traveled to Hamburg to visit friends. Favorite restaurant is the Rathauskeller. Favorite meal was erpsensuppe mit snooten und poten. Such good memories.

Das war ja teilweise ein unglaubliches Farbenspektakel in diesem Video, atemberaubend. Mein Oled TV hat sich richtig austoben können daran . Ein superschönes Video!!! Hoffe, es geht Euch gut, Ihr seid ja bestimmt schon im Atlantik inzwischen. Der Spätwinter will noch nicht weichen im Norden! Weiterhin gute Reise, die Zeit des Atoll-Flachwassers ist ja lange vorbei. ;-)

New sub here. Nice job, two things to note however; As a sailor of 50 years, you guys did so much work on the prop but afterward did not replace the prop bolts or the zinc sacrifice. I lost a prop one time having done something similar 45 years ago, never to make that same mistake again. I would seriously replace both next time you are in the shallows. No need to experience the loss of sail drive during rough conditions. Best of luck to you both and wishing you safe travels : )

Wir haben immer Penatencreme auf den Propeller gemacht, war immer super! Jetzt benutzen wir ein spezielles Anti-Pockenfett, aber ich bin nicht überzeugt, dass das besser hilft. Thula sieht übrigens wieder sehr gut aus, der kleine Aufenthalt auf dem trockenen hat sich ausgezahlt.
Klingt auch spannend, das haben wir noch nie gehört. Vielleicht testen wir das Mal 😄

The shark 07:30 just tried to follow the route plotted on his internal navigation device. He had forgotten to update his charts, he had a version which was a couple of million years old, when the atoll was not there.
Must be the most excotic shipyard ever ,save travels!

Ja dieses wunderschöne Atoll durften wir im Oktober 2019 besuchen, und auch den “Haushai ” (eine ganze Familie Ammenhaie )streicheln.

Danke 🙂 400€, das war ein Tag raus, ein Tag aufm Platz und dann wieder rein ! Ein Schnäppchen im Gegensatz zu Tahiti u Raiatea. AF waren 3L in etwa.

Ein wunderschönes Video, aber ich habe nicht verstanden, warum so viele Boote in diesem kleinen Atoll sind. Wurden sie verlassen? Wie habt ihr diese Mini-Werft entdeckt? Ich wünsche Euch eine gute Reise und schöne Winde. Grüsse aus Rio de Janeiro - Br.
Wir waren auch recht überrascht über die Anzahl an Booten. Ich denke viele stehen dort, weil die Eigner Covid-bedingt nicht zurück konnten. Viele Segler leben auch teils auf ihren Booten, teils haben sie noch wo ne Landbleibe.
Wir waren bereits zuvor in diesem Atoll und sind, als wir diese Werft fanden, wieder zurück.
How much did it cost
Hauling?
Around 400$ hauling out 1 day, 2 days on the hard, then back in. But nedding to bring everything with you (working material, antifoul etc.) as there is no shop around here&orders fr Tahiti may take a few weeks. Also there‘s a max. depth for yachts being able to be hauled out.
The wind was so strong in broke the main reef line ? It looks more like neglect than stress or over load ? But what do I know , prior preparation prevents piss-poor performance, have fun people !

It‘s a Rutland 914. We are very happy with it, noise level is very low unless it‘s blowing like hell. It has served us good services without any problems.

She managed to make a video using only 4 words or should i even say sounds.. So, uh , ah and um she made the first half of the video using those 4 words or sounds.. Combining them and switching up the order they where said ornused and how long you pause on either of the 2 letters in the words. It got annoying pretty quick. But then when youbwhere able you make a video atleast the first part of a video when you where in control of the boat talking about the crossing of current and winds. I was like she is bad ass she can make a video or content with a few 2 letter words and a couple fill in words. Its usually the other way around lol. Good job!
Take the words SO and AHH out and she could not talk.
Pity it will all be gone if we can't get global warming under control.
