Sudha popularises Bharathanatyam along with Carnstic music among fans, as already more than 3 Dancers were her earlier guests like Ms.Chitra visweswaran, Ms.Padma Subramaniam, Ms.Malavika Sarukkai, a classical dancer. People of Tamilnadu were familiar with Bharathanatyam thanks to old Tamil Cinemas like Vanjkkottai vaaliban, in which the dance competition between Mrs.vyjayantimala and Mrs.Padmini takes place. But, we miss the traditional dance in the modern time because of growth of TVs and the varieties of Dance shows they show and the dance competitive shows which have no connection to classical dancing. The conversation for more time centered around Cinemas rightly as Shobana was not only a Child artist as she entered movies, but also acted in several South Indian languages, excepting Kannada . The plus point of the conversation is the give and take between the two, as Shobana put questions in between to Sudha also. What transpired in the interview is , Shobana was not only candid in her thinking and action but also was plain in admitting on the things she does not know. She was very fluent in English, and also in Tamil as Chennai is her second home for long. She was able to pinpoint the pluses and minuses of various language film industries , and at the same time not forgetting the great qualities of individual Directors and Actors of her times, since she is not in acting now. When she could not go home in the middle of Thalapathi shooting, still she felt the importantance of the need to carry on the shoot without break considering the size of investment , and the animal's like Horses being kept for the shots. She realised the difficulties of the Director Mr.Mani Ratnam and waited for the Director to complete the schedule in that place. Similarly, she was very much appreciative of the different film industries like Telugu, Tamil..and how Telugu people were so respectful and caring in the sets. Similarly we learn through Shobanaji, the versatality of Mr.Bhagyaraj, the Tamil Director in not coming with a readymade script, and instead instantly creating a dialogue on the sets which only a very few are capable of. We are also able to know through Shobanaji, her English movie, the all women crew, and about her close friends like Ms.Revathi, and plans for a retirement life with close friends on a seaside place We also hear about her passion for music, instruments like Keyboard , and staging the dance shows according to needs, convenience , and keeping the unit most compact. She has totally dedicated her life to Dancing and her School Kalarpana bears testimony to this. When she was dwelling on Shringaram at some point, she correctly brought in Mrs.Aishwarya Rai, the World beauty and the Super Star of the Bollywood.
Once i saw shobana in passport office. She was next token to me. I am her huge fan and my heart beat was rising seeing her sitting beside me. She asked me if i was next and i finally got a chance to say that i am her fan. What a brilliant, graceful woman she is.
