I couldn't see my mum ever again )': the night before she passed away, we were singing this song together. She told me if I ever miss her I just listen to this song & know that she's always spiritually here with me. This year is my turn, I'm 15 and I have cancer. Listening to this gives me strength and reminds me the strength my mum had to get through the illness.

Listened to her in my mother’s womb, I remember my parents going shopping in Shanghai, entire neighbourhood, had her music playing, went into department, store playing TT’s music, afterwards went outside, a man riding his bicycle with a boom box playing this song, came home and my next door neighbour still playing her music. This is the first ever Deng Li Jun (邓丽君) song that I very much love listening to the moment I first heard it decades ago. "小城故事" literally means "Story of a Small Town or City". Perhaps, the combination of her soft and lovely voice + good melody and excellent musical arrangements just gives me a kind of feelings of relax and peace of mind, with full of nostalgia. I bought the cassette tape of this song and gave it to my father for his transistor radio and he loved it instantly he played it with his transistor radio. I like to hear Teresa Teng sing whenever I have the chance to do it, as she sings with feeling, and her voice is beautiful.
Whenever I see her perform and hear her voice, the lines from a Frankie Valley song always come to mind. "Your just to good to be true, can't take my eyes off of you." It's just her incredible voice, sweet smile and lovely charm, keep you captivated. Maybe that's what the American music industry was afraid of, that she would steal the hearts of the American people, and all domestic entertainers would take a back seat to her.
