I have been writing my memoir over the last few years. I really want to get back into it so I tuned into your channel. I am 65 and the main message I want to pass on is that we are all worthy of love and have talents that we need to appreciate even if others dont. You are very wise for a person of your age. I wish I had been like you at your age but was coming to terms with a traumatic childhood. Thank you so much for this video. I will now get down to my writing.
holy synchronicity, batman. I am writing a memoir about how I learned to create my own reality and other secrets I learned along the way. amazing stuff. I've entered the realm of the miraculous. anyway, thanks for the tips. good stuff. namaste.
Thank you so much , girl . I am dyslexic and am in college. I have an essay due tonight . I can’t thank you enough , because it makes it so much easier to write . ✍️ 💗💖🥰🥺🥹😘
I wrote a memoir that covered just a couple of years out of my life as a young girl. It was very painful to dig up this traumatic time in my life. I had to relive it and speak, showing my story in my voice as a child so my audience could feel my fear and pain. Every Sparrow that Falls by Rita Lee. I bled my heart out on paper in this story.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing your experience while writing. I began writing my memoir which consists of childhood trauma/abuse which caused me to suffer from mental illness in my alone time. As I wrote one of the chapters I cried while relieving the abuse. I applaud you for completing your task
I plan on writing a memoir about my childhood abuse, trauma and survival after a date with someone who later becomes a convicted kidnapper, rapist and murderer. My biggest problem is I feel very unrelatable to my target audience. My goal would be to provide insight to traumatized people, and showing gradual growth and the presence of resilience in the face of monsters but I’m not sure it would be an enjoyable read that people would want to participate in because it’s not pleasant, it’s very very unpleasant.
best advise ive had is... write! just start writing and the message will be revealed through you re-living your testimony but I understand your apprehension... i think you just need to focus on the message while you're on the gritty parts but don't hold back! Best of luck to you in your journey... I'm past chapter one and just getting started with the uglies!
Thanks for posting this video! I've been struggling trying to write a memoir for college and I wish the professor would of included your video for direction for his students. Thanks again!
Thank you for making a great and easy to follow guide! This was a great video to help me begin outlining my idea for my own memoir, as a healing process. Thanks!

I haven't even watched the full video yet but I just love her the way she talks and explains. Who is she? Is she an agent, editor, publisher or something?
Thanks for this informative video... I am writing a book about raising my granddaughter with a method which help her to become successful young adult, inspite of challenges.
Really cool video. Whoever you are girl super helpful! I'm nodding in agreement with every last word. Didn't expect something that assisting and relevant on the topic. Please elaborate some more on how to gather all thoughts and memories so it can be turned into chapters. I have exceptionally good short term memory but long term not always
It’s hard to find any information he says how to ride it but how do you put it together that’s where I’m stumped at this I don’t know what to put where or how to do it and it seems like I can’t hardly find any info
I’m in the beginning stages of brainstorming for my memoir. Question. I am a first time writing and feel overwhelmed with this process there is a part of my life that I want to talk about that has its roots in some other areas in my life and I’m just concerned that the deeper I dig the greater the temptation will be for me to write and autobiography rather than a memoir. For example, I was to write about a religious experience I had (something I believed that was untrue) which was slowly destroying my faith, my relationship with friend , family and almost my marriage. In wanting to write about that one aspect of my life (which was about a three-year span) I can see the connections to where I was at that point to some earlier memories with my relationship with my father and with the kind of education I got in public school. Any suggestion on how you would approach a situation like this? Thank you so much for this video and your channel.
@The Proverbial Life if your draw to a autobiography more than a memoir go for it. Eather way the process will be hard work, just keep going! You've got it if you want it. You are the writer of the book so the time line controls is yours, use flash back possibly to reference past in effect of the present. Best of luck😁
My story is going to be about what it's like to live with a mentally unstable/drug addict mother. I want the theme to be something about how you can always grow from a situation. And I have tried to start it off a couple different ways, I need help! Please!!
Seems super intriguing. I say don't over think it, just sit down at that desk one night when you feel it's coming to you, and knock the hell out of that keyboard, Your editor will get paid for fine tuning it:) In one word just aim to put all your memories as precisely as it is in your mind on paper, that's what readers want.
anything is possible! it would help if those all tied in to an overarching idea. but you can cover multiple focus points as long as they're transitioned into each other well with personal stories and whatnot
My core theme is freedom. Molested since diapers many men, rape, mom abused me age 6-17. Bullied in school and another 30 y of adults including in laws and church. Made it through losing my identity and suicide 🦋🦋🦋🦋
My memoir will be mainly about my decillions to one event of freak misfortune I had in the lottery, which has never happened in the world before to anybody else, and about the consequences of the event happening. Should be popular you'd think. I'd read it. My story is ridiculous. How do I get it known about when it's written?
A caveat - DO NOT THROW IN THE DIRTY LAUNDRY AT SOMEBODY WHO IS CURRENTLY LIVING, THROUGH MEMOIRS! YOU CAN BE SUED FOR DEFAMATION OR WORSE, ESPECIALLY IF IT IS PUBLISHED!!!!!!!!!! You can throw in the dirty laundry at those who are dead through memoirs but don't buy into it because you may be sued for defamation by the heirs of those who died!!!!
While most of the advice is good (do NOT italicize), having it told by someone so young is not a good idea. There is not enough life lived for this to be believable.

Most people love reading those kind of books. But you cant leave out the dirty details because that's why some people read those types of books.
🥺🥺🥺 good luck! Ü

You're a good teacher
Can a memoir have like 3/4 focus points instead of one overall theme or focus . Is that possible ?
anything is possible! it would help if those all tied in to an overarching idea. but you can cover multiple focus points as long as they're transitioned into each other well with personal stories and whatnot

I just avoided using names, or atleast real names, so far.

We can agree to disagree. Life is a meritocracy, not a measuring stick of who’s older
