Mine got pierced when i was around 2, one piercing closed and my mum re did it herself. And it hurt till until i wore really heavy earrings which stretched them out.
When I was 5 lol totally regret it and keep trying to let them heal up but I've had them for 8 years ish so i doubt they will especially since my mum insists I have to wear them because it'll least make me look like a girl (am a tomboy) lol

I got my ears done on two separate days in preschool. I went to get them done one day, got one ear pierced and freaked out, then left and went back the next day to get the other ear done.
Oh, how do they look? I got my first holes at Claire's when I was about 8. Then got my second holes at a tattoo parlor when I was 11. Yes it is safer to get it done with a needle at a tattoo parlor btw.

They're alcohol based markers, which is why the smell as strongly as they do. They're definitely not sterile though. Also, just don't pierce yourself at all, ever.
Yes, they are alcohol markers, and you can actually dilute, and entirely lift and clean, the pigment with rubbing alcohol! 😅 So if you ever get sharpie on something you don't want sharpie on, just grab some rubbing alcohol and clean it up! 👍
