Oh my goodness thank you so much for this! I just got home from a trip where I filmed a lot of footage on my phone and when I got home I was so upset that they were all overexposed like this. I thought they were ruined! You are a lifesaver!!
Glad I could help Kailey!
I recently faced this issue and searched how to fix it here on TH-cam. After several minutes, I found the solution but I could have not looked further if I had found your video in my search results. For that reason, I suggest you adding "HDR" in the video description to make it more "findable"
Thank you for the suggestion Rodrigo! we'll got onto it. Glad you found the video.
I don't respond to video's - even handy tutorials - often but I gotta say: I've never found a solution to a problem as fast as I did just now, and so easily explained instead of dragging it out to a 10 minute video... Thanks mate!
Well done for breaking the habit of not showing gratitude for handy tutorials 😃 always good to show appreciation sometimes to some of these helpful videos on TH-cam *wink
I spent like two hours watching videos and playing with color wheels and shit. This literally took seconds. Appreciate it
You're a LIFESAVER!!!! Thank You!!!!! My daughters sang our National Anthem at the Pleasanton Scottish Highland games and Festival Sept 4 2022 and I spent over an hour trying to fix this! Then BOOM in 1 minute you saved our film!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
That's great Jim, you're welcome!
To add to many other comments.... thank you so much for such a quick and useful video. I was expecting to be searching forever for a fix and here you are explaining it in less than a minute. Exactly what I was looking for. Much appreciated!
Half way through an edit for someone who has supplied the footage. I was pulling my hair out, I couldn't understand why they'd filmed it like this. My thumbnails were also 'bleached out'. Then I found your two videos on this. Thanks for being a massive help! Subscribed.
You're welcome! Thank you for subscribing
Love that you got straight to the point --- I keep coming back to your video every time I forget how to fix this! Thanks
Thank you!
Killing it! Thank you, I really needed this specific video because I've been filming on my iPhone 12pro and it was doing this exact thing. Good content, keep it up.
Glad it helped!
Same here. Really a big help. thank you for the video
Hell yeah - thank you! Fast fix, perfectly described. We need more people like you!!!
Glad it helped, Healey!
@@editorskeys How do you fix it to the point where it doesn't do this anymore? It's very annoying doing this multiple times
Wow!!! I’ve watched so many videos trying to find the fix for this problem!!! THANK YOU SO MUCHHH THIS IS DEFINITELY IT!!!
You're welcome!
Just wanted to thank you for making this video. Fixed the issue perfectly. Appreciate it, man.
Glad it helped
You man are a life saver. I wondered why my seemingly normal clip landed on the timeline and looked like whitewashed tomb. Thank youuuuuu!!!!
You're welcome!
Let me pile on with thanks as well. Recently got an iPhone 14 Pro and was thrilled with the video quality. Looked great even when I pulled it into FCP, and couldn't figure out why it suddenly looked blown out when I dragged it to the timeline. Your fix was exactly what was needed.
Thank you!
OMG Thank you! This is the first time this ever happened and I knew there had to be a tool. You did it, my friend! Thank you! Now my GAME CLOSET hangers will see the video that was shot the way it was supposed to be seen (and it isn't possible to reshoot as this was a one-shot-deal). Kudos!
You're welcome!
Thank you! Short, fast and informative video!
Glad it was helpful!
Yesterday I was editing a video to my channel of the iPhone 12, i wish I knew that info back the. 😭, great video :)
Thank you! I'm glad it helped
This saved my sanity (and my job)!!!! Thank you so much for posting this!
Glad I could help!
This doesn't seem to be working now? Did they update the FCP software? My video is overexposed but only slightly, with some increased saturation in areas. When I apply this effect it dulls the image as if it has an obscure LUT on it. But when I apply normal effects e.g 'Aura' it totally over exposes the video
Quickest. Easiest. Most Efficient. Thank you!
You're welcome!
I was scratching my head since yesterday about how to fix this and played with many color and exposure corrections, but nothing works. This was a quick tip and a time saver. Thank you.
Glad it helped!
Life saver!!! felt wrong to not at least leave a comment. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks a million...saved the day for me. Cheers.

Thank you. I spent 5 hours (5 different Apple support people) to finally get a guy in Final Cut who knew exactly what was happening to my videos. He sent me your video and I look forward to watching more in your channel.
Glad I could help Rebeca! Thats good news
omg thank you for this!!!! i'm editing a video for a school project on fcpx and I panicked when one of my groupmate's videos turned out to be overexposed when imported to the software so glad I found this !!!
Glad I could help! Good luck

Thank you! unfortunately no
OMG, you saved my bacon. I thought I'd be screwed importing my iPhone video to FCP; just got home from Italy with a lot of iPhone video.. thank you so much.

you're a Life Saver.... Thanks a Ton bro...
Happy to help
I actually discovered this for myself. All the sudden on a newer version of Final Cut Pro it was doing this and after a bit of toggling around, I used this. What I've also done is saved this setting as Lee So I don't have to go into each individual shot and adjust the settings.
That's great Lee!
thank you for the video! but you have to do this for every clip filmed on iPhone?! this seems like such a stupid bug if so... I wonder why Apple haven't fixed it
Hey yes you do, you could also drag and multi select and do it in one go too to speed up the process 👍👍
Thank you so much! Made my Day!
Any time!
You are absolutely wonderful! I just got iPhone 13 and filmed in cinematic and thought all my clips were ruined. Thank you- Thank you.
You're welcome!
2023: worked like a charm, great video mate

Happy to help!

same here. Did you ever figure it out?
@@erikyoung9197 no sir abandoned ship 🚢
@@StoneVisuals do you have the 'HLG to PQ' setting? If so, try selecting that and turning down the peak brightness all the way. That has been a suitable workaround for me.
THANK YOU X10 THIS DEFINITELY HELPED
Glad it helped!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Mate, you saved me! I had exactly this problem. I still think that Final Pro should be able to recognise a certain video type and adjust itself but this trick saved me! would never have figured it out myself 👍

Very helpful video! Is there a way to do that to multiple videos at once rather than having to drag and drop HDR Tools onto every video? Thanks
