Fantastic! I was fully prepared to scream if you painted those blue after knowing that they were rosewood. LOVED when you convinced the customer to change their mind. And also when you deftly revealed that you had "donor" chairs to bring into play. Lastly, so cool that you included the customer reaction. That should be a part of every video IMO.
In defense of the painting, it was a frankenchair. I think the original painter should have found a better way to combine painting the repairs and keeping parts of it as rosewood.
It is a long video and the blue intent made me cringe, so I jumped to the end and couldn't see any blue ! Just dipped in & out of the video since, all in wrong order. It looks very interesting. I must check it from the start, properly, when I get the time.
My guess is they disliked it as soon as she said the chairs were going to be painted electric blue! Then couldn't stand to watch that injustice take place. Clicked "dislike" and left the video before seeing end result. (My best guess because I almost did the same. LOL )
Twice the price, and five times the work! You're a treasure, Tren. You guided the owner toward the most beautiful potential of those chairs, and threw yourself into making that happen. Your craftsmanship is just unparalleled, and it's a pleasure to see how you do it. Awesome. Those chairs are now a new heirloom for that family.
Oh, the thought of painting rosewood hurts me. I understand a lot of people see furniture as a canvas, but I see pieces like this as nothing less than a piece of rosewood ARTWORK!!!!! Nobody would cover a Renoir with chalk paint and appliqués! Respect artwork, whether it's a painting or a piece of handcrafted furniture❣
It's beyond me why hand made rosewood chairs were ever painted. You are so talented and made them an object of pride. Your a person who appreciates these works and the hard work that went into them. They are truly beautiful again. I am so impressed. Keep up the great work.
Beautiful, I am so glad you didn't have to paint over those lovely chairs again. Now you have brought them back to their original beauty. You are amazing. Thanks for taking us along the way. I am sure the owner will be very pleased and happy your provisional eye caught the mistake they were about to make. Now, these chairs will be cherished and admired for years to come. It's a shame you couldn't get at least two more out of the set to restore. I'm sure your Dad would be proud.
Thank you for being an advocate for the natural finish. There are few things in this world I find more offensive than seeing fine quality, rare and uniquely patterned hardwood lumber hidden beneath an opaque finish, especially so when it's applied over ornate and complicated mill work, such as is found in antique stairs, wainscot, and fine furniture.
Absolutely stunning……I never thought for a moment you would paint them blue….you just were waiting to see the wood before talking sense to the owner. You truly are a artist
No guts no glory! You are fearless Trena...not intimidated at all. So awesome! Not many would have been able to pull this off. The gambit of skills you displayed here is amazing...woodworker/finisher/artist/magician, etc. Your temperament/patience is such an asset in what you do. Pat yourself on the back Trena...these are beautifully brought back to life! Your father would be proud. By all means we'd love to see your clients reaction!
I drool over Rosewood too. My daughter shakes her head - but drools over hand-dyed expensive knitting yarn. So glad you saved it from blue paint even if it was a ton more work for you. Superb work as usual and beautiful results.
Those hidden Rosewood chairs were jewels behind years of old paint and neglect So happy they allowed you to restore them back to their original Rosewood. Its one of my favorite woods too along with Crochet Mahogany and all the burled woods. A beautiful, thoughtful restoration Trena, as usual..
I think it is a 20 out of 10. I am so glad you added the customers reaction. The gasp from the lady and the gentleman said a work of art. That said it all. And in heaven the original worker is thanking you for redoing his artistry. When you showed the blue swatch in the beginning I gasped and went no, no, no.

A real pleasure watching someone work that takes pride in their work . You seem to take each piece as if doing it for a loved one not taking any short cuts
I love it when old furniture is stripped down to the original wood, it's like going back in time, seeing the wood as the original builder did. I am in suspense (a little) when you're taking apart the chairs. When you're hammering on the chairs, I'm holding my breath and keep thinking 'Don't break it! Don't break it! Don't break it!'. Then a sign of relief when it comes apart in one piece and I can breathe again. I am always impressed with your knowledge and craftsmanship.
First of, have to say you did an excellent job on the repairs and refinish, they look absolutely beautiful. Started off watching and honestly could not believe when you said what they were made of and that they were not going to strip and finish natural, but paint them again. Thank you SO MUCH for letting the customer know about the quality of the wood these chairs are made of and gently "push" to re-finish them and let their natural beauty show. Cannot believe someone actually would have thought to paint them black over the natural beauty of the wood.
I had a customer call me to his house to give a quote on painting the woodwork in his lavish home office. From the door to the raised panel walls, the two pc baseboard, 3pc crown with dental moulding, bookshelves and fireplace mantle. I asked why he wanted it painted. He answered just to update the look. Thats when i told him all his woodwork was actual mahogany. He still seemed nonplussed. After explaining that none of the parts were store bought and that someone had custom cut and built the pieces to make the room and the estimated cost of material alone being upwards of 25k he still wanted a price. I told him i was thebwrong guy to call and i would never paint it for any price. Never heard back.
I seriously was about in tears when you were going to paint those chairs blue! Definitely one of the most beautiful woods. So thrilled they had you return them to their original glory! I was thrilled to get to see them restored! Now these little chairs can be cherished heirlooms for generations to come. You did an amazing job on these!
Like you, so glad the went back to how they originally were. The Rosewood is stunning, and your care and attention to details made them all the more beautiful.
Thank you for rescuing those magnificent rosewood chairs from paint . It was a crime against nature and good taste to have painted over such elegantly crafted chairs worthy of a castle . Beautiful job blending the light spots .
Those chairs turned out amazing, I'm so glad the customer went ahead and had them restored! I can't imagine how they would have looked electric blue when they are so gorgeous! Fantastic job.
What a beautiful save! A lot of in-depth thought went into how to deal with reconnecting and fixing the prior repairs. You are masterful in matching the stain of those areas! Thanks for your thoughtfulness sharing the owners receiving the finished pieces, they appeared delighted.
So beautiful! I'm glad the client let you go with the natural wood. I don't believe they will ever look at those chairs and say, "Gosh, I wish we had gone with that electric blue." I love that heart inset in the backs. They're perfect! 🙂👍❤
Very talented lady , it's obvious you are very passionate about your craft . Will definitely be watching you from now on , oh and you have a lovely smile 👍🇬🇧👍🇬🇧
That was so much work, so many steps, so much detail and so much knowledge of how to. Your customers are going to love their 'new' old chairs. I know I would. Thanks for this video, it was really fun to watch.
I loved the ‘geeking about a chair’ comment. And I am also glad to see you were wearing your respirator when you did the clear coat spray. But what amazing work you do. It is very clear that you enjoy this work and combined with your skills, these chairs have been given a new life and the customer has a piece of practical art at home.

Wow! Major surgery, but certainly worth it. I’m glad they decided to go with a natural finish because I have to agree with you Rosewood is beautiful with a proper finish on it. Very nice work.
Grateful to your clients for being willing to be recorded when reacting to the reveal. I understand many of us are uncomfortable being recorded for public display but they helped round out this adventure for us to its conclusion as we accompanied you.

I've never seen Rosewood. It is luscious! What a pair of stunning chairs you've saved and returned to their original beauty😍🤗. Trina, you are a true artist 🎨 👏👏👏👏
How did I miss this one? I have literally binged your videos and dont know how I never saw this one. Awesome, amazing trasformatiion.. I only dream of being able to perform such a woodworking miracle.

Such an inspiration!!!!!!!!!!! I know you are a professional, but your detailed videos are giving us amateurs the confidence to try to tackle our own projects. Thank you.
The differences on the back seem to me to be a subtle king and queen. So glad to see the return to original. Those pieces are gorgeous. Your level of skill is impressive. As a woodworker of 40 years i am happy to see these chairs be saved and skillfully restored. I loved the stain match as well. I had a carpenter i used to finish behind that had a bad habit of using 3 different kinds of wood to finish trim like wainscotting with chair rail and baseboard. Trying to match colors so the room did not look blocky was quite a challenge. Thx for the video. Will check back for more.
Rosewood and Mahogany are my two favorites and Yew are so lovely, you are so blessed to have had someone so detail oriented as to oily wood and strength of the main body structure in mind. I hope you are in mind of training someone as an apprentice so all these details aren’t lost in generations to come. It is an art to do what you do, applause applause! I really enjoy watching you love each piece. I wish I were younger I would love to apprentice under you.
FABULOUS! Your hard work shows how professional you are. The rosewood just looks elegant. I love watching your precision. So glad your customers are very pleased. Thanks for sharing
I think of the craftsmanship and pride of trade that went into making those chairs and I appreciate you bringing them back to that stage. Beautiful work for two tired old chairs. So much has been lost in pride and craftsmanship. You do great work!
Absolutely amazing restoration. They look so beautiful. Painting wood chairs like those is sinful. Very glad they agreed with you to refinish them correctly. And you definitely did a wonderful job. I'd place those in my livingroom just for show and never let anyone sit on them. 🤗
So stunning. I was so glad when you said you sent the client a picture to see if they knew the chairs were rosewood. Really beautiful. I loved watching the stripping of the paint off them.
You earned your dollar buck fifty on that one! Your customer definitely got full value as well. I was pleased when you said the customer wanted them looking original, wise choice. They are beautiful! Whomever built those really had some creative and involved joinery in them! Well done ... Tom will give that one more than just a 'pretty good'!
I have not heard "dollar buck fifty" before. However, my grandfather always said "a buck two 98." ;) I love seeing these colloquialisms from different areas.
Thank you for running so many emotions from appalled at the idea of electric blue to delight when the final coats were applied. Your skills are so impressive too from such delicate and accurate touch-ups to hammering for all you're worth with a mallet. So brave, so caring. Brilliant!
I love rosewood too. Can't believe anyone would want to paint it. I've never seen anyone totally take furniture apart before to refinish it. What a labor of love. You are so talented.
Wonderful! I loved that the client wanted them back to its original wood. You do outstanding work and definitely take in preserving the originality of the piece. Love your video.
So hard to believe the amount of skill needed to carve those beautiful chairs. This person left a wonderful legacy
I am so glad you convinced your customer to make her chairs BEAUTIFUL.

And you wouldn't see the seam!

I’m sure they were painted because there were so many breaks in the wood, and no one could save them…until Trenna!! 😃
Your color and grain matching skills are amazing. Thank you,
Thank you! Cheers!
My heart sinks every time you take pieces of furniture apart, and then magic begins, like a fairy tale.

BRAVO!! These chairs should have never had any paint on them... GORGEOUS!
Took a lot of time, dedication and love. You concurred them my dear. They are lovely and perfect 🌺
Thank you for your willingness to show us the finer aspects of your craft. I find your background music super amazing.
Outstanding work! Thanks for saving such treasures from "The Blue Death"!
Once again, another stunning restoration job, your client must be over the moon with the work you have done, brilliant
They look wonderful. SO glad they did not end up electric blue!
@@myothernameisnana7188 Thanks, kinda grew up with that one.
Awesome work... Kudos to you for rescuing them from that terrible fate 😀
Absolutely gorgeous. You don't see quality like that today!! So glad they finished natural rather than coloured. 👏👏👏👏
Keep safe and well.👍👍
I can’t believe that something so beautiful would be painted. Wow, they are really wonderful now. Thanks Trena. Great job as always.
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you for running so many emotions from appalled at the idea of electric blue to delight when the final coats were applied.
You are so talented.
thankyou!
Wonderful! I loved that the client wanted them back to its original wood. You do outstanding work and definitely take in preserving the originality of the piece. Love your video.
Your a true artist... love your work! The Hearts look like the letter "M" on the bottom.
Not only is this an incredibly beautiful project, but thank you so much for sharing the details of your tinting, coloration, and finishing techniques.
Only one word fits here, Artisan. You are amazing.
I am so happy they changed their mind on the paint! They look fantastic and you did a super job on the touch ups! Thank you for sharing!
