    I'm so happy you're encouraging people to go vintage or second hand!! I find it actually fairly easy to find good compositions on sweaters and jackets that are a few years old. I'm also passing on everything in this lookbook. The bodysuit would have been a maybe if cost less. I can find 100% cotton bodysuits for far less than $185CAD.

    That's quite an interesting direction you're going indeed 😊 I agree with you on the compositions though I recently made a couple of compromises - like that Sama jumper in yellow screamed my name and surprisingly it's not itchy!
    But generally speaking, I think I got to a point where I own all I need so, unless something really catches my heart, I would be more mindful on buying (and agree, always better to check Vinted, got incredible deals!).

    Great video, as always, Katie! :) Not buying anything from Sézane at the moment and for the forseeable future (haven't bought anything from them in about a year, actually). I'm with you on the fabric contents... for the price of most items, you'd expect better. But the thing that displeases me even more is the fact that now almost everything is made in China. And this is by no means a matter of xenophobia - just the opposite. By now we should all be very aware of how factory workers in a lot of Asian countries are treated, and the fact that suddenly Sézane started producing what, 80%? of their collections in China just shows that they are trying to severely cut down on the costs of production by outsourcing to places where workers are being paid much less and expected to work a lot more and in worse conditions. The main reason that got me into Sézane in the first place was precisely the fact that they produced mostly in Europe, so I didn't have to worry about my clothes having been made by exploited poor women and children.

    • @katie_louise
      @katie_louise  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you! I don’t know, I’m conflicted on this topic and I think it’s definitely nuanced. I’m very reluctant to swear off all clothing made in a particular country, without knowing the factories they’re using I feel (personally) it’s impossible to tell. China has some of the best clothing manufacturers in the world. I understand that it’s cheaper for sézane and probably why they do it though. The Dior scandal that happened recently shows that just because it’s made in Europe, doesn’t guarantee ethical labour practices.

    • @catarinasimoes3886
      @catarinasimoes3886 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@katie_louise thanks for your reply. I do get your point. There have been similar situations in the UK during the pandemic, and also recently in Portugal in the agricultural sector. The thing is that those unethical practices came to light because they also happened to be illegal. They were scandals because they occurred in democratic countries, with labour regulations that were not being met, and there was a free press to scrutinize and uncover these situations. Several conscious brands, on the other hand, produce in Asia and still manage to have transparent practices and get good ratings from platforms such as Good on You. Producing in Asia, by itself, doesn't have to be a bad thing. But in the specific case of Sézane, it happened alongside other significant changes in the brand's ethos, so I don't really think it's just a small irrelevant detail. It's Sézane becoming essentially a fast fashion brand. And, all the time, I hear people say things like "for this price, you can get 100% wool in [insert name of fast fashion brand]". Perhaps it's also worth thinking that if you can afford and are willing to pay Sézane prices, then you can choose to support other brands who are making better efforts in general.

    I avoid synthetical fibers like the plague, so I get you. Bad for the environment, I sweat more easily in them, their look decline lot faster than natural fibers ones, itchy and frankly at Sezane's price points I refuse to buy anything less than full natural, I can go to other places then. It's just not worth it. Especially bc I only want to invest in pieces that I can keep for many years.

Our precious fibres are all processed in-house, and we spend more time on finishing than any other producer. As a result, our knitwear is super smooth.”). The undyed color is an amazing rich cool chocolate brown. I agree that it’s super smooth to the touch, very fluffy and comfy. • @katie_louise
      @katie_louise  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +15

      As far as I’m aware yes they’ve always produced a good chunk in China, as well as Europe. Personally, I don’t have a problem with it, China has some of the best clothing manufacturers in the world. Without knowing the exact factory, you can’t tarnish all the clothes made in one country as ‘bad’. If you heard about the Dior scandal which happened recently in Italy, that shows that poor labour practices and mistreatment of workers can happen in Europe as well.

    I debated the Sami and Jacob in burgundy, but like you, was confused if it’s actual cool burgundy or if it’s the warm, almost rusty burgundy. I trust that because Sezane always errs on the side of warm, it’s the rusty shade which is not friendly to my colouring

      Hopefully it will be okay for you! Honestly itchiness is so personal I think 😅 I remember it wasn’t the worst one I’ve tried but I just don’t find mohair in any capacity comfortable 🤣

    I bought a yak wool mix turtleneck from Muji back in 2017. It really helped me survive NYC winters. Since it was a blend, i cant say how pure yak wool feels.
    Unfortunately i didnt read the care labels back then and i completely fckd it up lmao

    I’m not sure on the Yak wool, I think it’s supposed to replace their cashmere. It’s a pass for me.

      It baffles me they are not using any cashmere tbh. It’s the right price point for the brand their customers would eat it up. Makes no sense to me

      @@katie_louisei totally agree. I’m always interested on the next cashmere piece.Sezane used to do cashmere pieces or a mix with wool. They have now replaced it with yak wool, Disappointed.
      On the Clyde coat I totally agree with you, for that price better off getting the Mederick.
      Always loving your videos x
