He kind of(not really) sucks, but not as much as sunshower heathcliff. He's fun to play with, almost immortal and stuff. Looking forward to do more solos with him.
Holy hell when the music kicked in as Hong Lu's passive activated and he corroded it's perfectly timed. Almost like Dongbaek activated his second phase haha.
People will end up knocking him just because he's competing with Kuro and Tingtang, but he honestly is not that bad. The rupture stacking can get quite funny especially with the talisman passive from the new Sinclair ID.
People will always be like that and then they worry about powercrept. lmao. The game doesn't punish player for using any characters you just lost the RR cosmetic for now.
He is fun to use but... I want him but not as a priority... i am still saving for future characters maybe Ishmael or Don. If they have new more interesting OOO.
Problem is, every new Heathcliff, Hong Lu, Faust, Sinclair and Ryoshu will be compared to their meta IDs, and new identities will be either useless or power creep
He is essentially immortal. His passive gives 1 ampule and essentially a free revive, + dimension shredder's passive and 2 more ampules, you now have a unit with 3 hp bars that regenerates 15% of his max hp every turn with 0 stagger on his 2 of those HP bars. Not to mention that 7 Yi Sang, 7 Outis, 7/base Ryoshu and G Gregor's passive synergizes very with his kit in a solo scenario. In a team comp he is kinda meh, his clash values are decent, rupture teams are not really worth building around compared to raw dps. I am currently using him in MD2 with a Gluttony team with 7 Yi-Sang, 7 Outis, LCCB Ish and R Heath, followed by G Gregor, Talisman Sinclair and picked up base Ryoshu benched for passive. I can easily win rate through the whole of MD2 with this team load out, You can essentially activate absolute resonance every turn and trigger all of the passives, especially 7 Yi-Sang's - 2 enemy power passive which helped a lot in winning clashes against enemies in floor 4 and 5 Edit: Just found out that the passive revive can activate multiple times in a battle, it is only the fragile effect is activated once. So he actually has 4 HP bars before he dies for real. Dimension shredder is just rupture support and the bugged 1 HP revive.
Its not 4 HP bars, so lemme tell you a story, my fucking hong lu had 7 fucking deaths in a single turn due to guido, he died the start of next turn, so basically, he can die 4 separate times on 4 separate turns, but he can die a infinite amount of times in one turn. (By die i mean have his passive activated)
So from my understanding Hong lu won't die as long The ampule count doesn't reach 5. If he defeated once he gain 1 count and heal the portion of his HP according to the ampule count and pair it with his Lost Passager EGO you can expect him to keep healing to full hp. But you also want to intentionally gain Ampule so S3 can deal more damage that why his guard give him ampule count. It's niche i like it early battle you want him to keep gaining ampule and losing HP so Hong Lu job is to tank as many damage and lose clash as much as possible and after his first heal instead of being a tank he will become a dps.
I'd say yeah. Once the stagger threshold is gone, Hong Lu is basically one massive self-repairing wall, especially when paired with supports like Gregory's heal on clash win.
