I figuret it out.. dont know How it works with different stereos but with mine i just simply connect my car play and and cardin stereo bluetooth at the same time and then just use the audio from my cardin stereo device via my phone.
I'm driving along listening to the radio (AM, FM or satellite). A call comes in that interrupts the radio (as it should). When the call is completed I don't go back to the radio station I was listening to, but instead the car goes to the Music app on Apple CarPlay and starts playing from my iPhone using Apple CarPlay. It takes 6 or 7 button presses to get me back to the radio station I was listening to. I prefer not to do all this while driving. This is happening on a Ford, GM, and a Toyota. Can't really blame the cars I don't think. I've been looking on my iPhone for a setting that might be doing this but I can't find it.
Is there a way to stop Google maps from switching the phones screen to text directions? I’d rather have the phone screen match the car screen. My main reason is trying to mark speed traps when driving.

I am a responsible driver and I still have that on when driving because it just stops me getting un-necessary messages that I don’t need to see while driving that could become distracting. Wireless carplay is really butt It forces you off the wifi and if you live in a dead zone then it just sucks. Wired connection, better sound quality for the bass heads out there.

I know it’s a year later so you’ve probably found a solution by now, but you could setup a focus mode to block all calls while in the car. The driving focus makes it pretty easy to do that

The only thing I don’t like about turning off “show in CarPlay” is that i don’t get a notification sound at least. I figured that CarPlay should at least play the message sound if my notification sounds are on and just not show the badge in CarPlay. I haven’t seen a way around that yet.

Hey bro, my Iphone 11 and also my Iphone 13 pro max when i connect to carplay and play music the music automaticly turns the volume up or lower during the song. The volume bar does not pop up then but you hear it louder or lower. Other phones dont have this issue

When I run it on my CarPlay screen and push the button go or start the sound of directions are not heard as long as I touch the top of my iPhone screen as the google map application run behind and it is only shown in blue color as banner. When I touch the banner and pull it down a directions list come to screen and then the directions sound from the CarPlay screen is coming. After reading through a lot of these comments of people having Lots of different troubles - I think I will get (shopping now) a vehicle without upgrading trim levels in order to get "wireless" apple CarPlay since I like to listen to the radio a lot. @@jonny-n7x sort of. I turned off CarPlay and can use the radio as I like with my phone as a “iPod” or as Bluetooth audio. I still have issues and can really only dictate or talk using the speaker of the phone. I haven’t figured out why sometimes the phone will not record or listen, hands-free, but for the most part I’ve taking care of it. It’s not ideal, but I think I’m done trying and I’m just living with the current situation.

It works sometimes but just when I need it the most I lose it. When it was corded in my last Kia it was great. But now it just does not stay connected. In a 15 min drive it turn on and off 4-5/times. Hi, do you know how to stop apps ( in this case pokemon go) from stopping the music playing on my Apple CarPlay, I got a new Legacy 2020 and i so far only use a wire to connect my phone to the car. It’s all fine until I open the POGO app on the phone and that causes everything playing to stop and go to a random screen with a play button, not related to anything, so I have to go back to radio and play it from there, and if I switch out and back into pogo app it’ll repeat the same thing. Hello, I watched your video. I need your help. Recently, I purchased IPhone 14. Once car play is connected through USB cord, it does not show iMessage banner at all. I am not able to see who message me once driving unless I checked my phone. With my IPhone 12 it was not like that. The phone was mirrored. I did so many things , such as do not disturb, notification, privacy setting, etc. it does not work and still does not show me iMessage banner. Is there any recommendation? I appreciate it.
Do you know if there’s a way to stop Apple CarPlay from connecting to wifi? Recently it started to use wifi instead of data(the wifi symbol appears instead of the LTE) and interrupts playback on Spotify. To fix it, I have to turn wifi off so it goes back to data and playback is normal again, but my dashcam needs my phone wifi signal to function properly. Don’t know why this started happening
Excellent video. But, there is one EXTREMELY UNDESIRABLE aspect of using CarPlay --- I found that if there is ANY maps app installed in CarPlay, CarPlay is ALWAYS using your cellular DATA, no matter whether you are actively using a maps app or not. I do NOT like this. I do know that you can turn off use of data by map apps in the cell phone settings, but this is very cumbersome and frustrating, as you always have to think about shutting it off when you don't want map apps eating up data when the map apps alway operate in the background of Car Play.

I noticed you had your garage opener button on your display. Is that only available when you have Apple Maps open? Since is linked with HomeKit.

Another Tip is Use CarPlay wired for the best sound quality ! (I know it uses wifi but still you get the Spotify Low Quality rates only)
My 2017 Ford Explorer with sync 3 under settings>Car Play preferences> enable, disable and delete. I find this easier to stop auto connect.

Has anyone met the same issue as me? Usually i will turn on Google map and TH-cam Music while i was driving, things turn annoying when the navigation sound comes in and the music will completely stop and resumes after the navigation sound ends, instead of just lower down the music volume. I'm driving Mitsubishi Xpander and it only happens when i was using carplay. No issue with android auto

Hello, I watched your video. I need your help. Recently, I purchased IPhone 14. Once car play is connected through USB cord, it does not show iMessage banner at all. I am not able to see who message me once driving unless I checked my phone. With my IPhone 12 it was not like that. The phone was mirrored. I did so many things , such as do not disturb, notification, privacy setting, etc. it does not work and still does not show me iMessage banner. Is there any recommendation? I appreciate it.

Do you know if there’s a way to stop Apple CarPlay from connecting to wifi? Recently it started to use wifi instead of data(the wifi symbol appears instead of the LTE) and interrupts playback on Spotify.
To fix it, I have to turn wifi off so it goes back to data and playback is normal again, but my dashcam needs my phone wifi signal to function properly. Don’t know why this started happening
Excellent video. But, there is one EXTREMELY UNDESIRABLE aspect of using CarPlay --- I found that if there is ANY maps app installed in CarPlay, CarPlay is ALWAYS using your cellular DATA, no matter whether you are actively using a maps app or not. I do NOT like this. I do know that you can turn off use of data by map apps in the cell phone settings, but this is very cumbersome and frustrating, as you always have to think about shutting it off when you don't want map apps eating up data when the map apps alway operate in the background of Car Play.
Annoying as my Snapchat keeps screen recording whenever I am using car play, and I have to keep explain to people.

Thank you! “Allow CarPlay while locked”!!!! It’s been bad to have to type in my passcode so frequently! It’s a lot safer to not have to do that. AND fingers crossed, I hope option #1 you gave works and stops Apple Music from playing automatically every time I start the car! Thanks, again.
Why the f isn't there an autoplay setting built into carplay. So annoying to have the last youtube video or spotify song start playing from my phone as my significant other backs out of the driveway because it connected to my phone instead of hers.
What about volume? It screams directions at me and I can’t adjust

I noticed you're using a CarlinkKit as well.
I'm using one and opening any music app (Spotify, TH-cam Music, etc), the CarPlay becomes suuuuuuper irresponsive: map lags a log, screen doesn't respond, etc.
Did you face something similar?
When I tap iMessage to send a text by Siri, Siri will ask me ( what would you like say, I will speak my text , but Siri repeats ( what would like to say ) Siri doesn’t repeat my text like on my other CarPlay on my Apline w650. Are my settings wrong ?? Help!! I have a Boss be7acp
