Great explanation, in a short video, what worked for me was to move the fat (left) part of the shoulder rest
further back towards the bridge, thanks, happy playing

I’ve been battling with the shoulder rest for a week now. You made things perfectly clear in 3 minutes. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Another violin channel mentioned both the chin and the shoulder rest should be set in tandem. For most people, that means the chin rest is set comfortably to allow the right eye to sight down the strings (doesn't matter which string), and then the shoulder rest will almost always fit properly and easily with minor tweaking and movement.
However, should that chin rest be dramatically to the right or left of the right eye sight line (and lots of violinists prefer that), then a shoulder rest would have to be moved a lot from its standard position.

Am I the only one who is totally confounded by the fact that the writing on the whiteboard is backwards (as if the image is flipped, which a lot of phone cameras do), but everything about the violin is not??? :-o What the friggin' hell?? :-o

The violin is made for the stage, so it answers to stage-left and stage-right laws. the whiteboard is just a whiteboard.

Wow thanks. At first I thought, really.... do you think I would put the thing on backwards? Then I went and checked and... according to this video... I had it on backward. I flipped it and bingo, it feels better. Now why is the writing on that whiteboard backward? Also, the smile and frown rule depends on the position of the scroll (up or down) as much as the position of the shoulder rest. Just sayin.... Great video, thanks!
