- Welcome to episode #20 of Stay Fishy Adventures! Today we have ventured up to fish for what I like to call micro salmon! This lake is massive, and the fish are plentiful. I wanted to do a catch and cook out in the middle of the lake. Kokanee fishing, enjoying the outdoors in my boat, and an all around good time in the great PNW. I love fishing on that lake. Kokanee are one of my favorites for sure. I haven't tried cooking on the boat like that before, but I am inspired to give it a try! Great job!

Took a while to watch, been putting in 70hr weeks. This morning we pulled in 8 steelhead and kept 2. Taking it easy with a beer and watching. Thanks for the content.
Willow leaves and Ford fenders with worms are a killer set up too. It also helps to put on a rubber snubber too. It'll help keep them from tearing out the hook.

Need to put a decent lithium battery in your yak. Should be able to troll and spot lock for over 8 hours. Then again that's why I got the peddle drive because paddling sucks when you are trying to troll with no juice left in the battery

Quick tip Jordo, if you don't want those noodles to stick together but you don't want to add oil to rhe noodles because the sauce slicks off, keep some of the cooking water from the pasta and add it right after you strain. The pasta won't stick together but the sauce will stick to your noodles amazingly !
Ever notice the catch and cooks always look like some punishment on a food network cooking competition? Still manages to always pull it off. Lol

Love Kokanee fishing, I am pretty sure that that was Yale, I have gone fishing out there a couple times and they have littler fish than merwin but there are a lot more of them. But I usually fish at merwin.

I've never heard of Kokes being called micro salmon LOL... Shorten that leader behind your flasher, all you need is about 10-12"... Once you dial it in, it's almost as fun as Columbia Salmon

Cooking pro tip: add the white wine before the cream. Deglaze your sauté with white wine and let the alcohol cook out for the best results 🤙 love the vids

My buddy fished Odell lake ( kokanee ). Caught LOTS, Used an 8" leader ( if I remember correctly) with one corn. If longer or shorter no good. Could be 7 or 9, but I don't think so.

I actually went to go catch kokanee last Saturday. The lake (New Melones) is like a two hour drive for me. I spent all week getting ready, bought new tackle, cured, dyed and scented some corn, reviewed my checklist multiple times, looked forward to it so much. I made the drive, launched the boat and was heading to the area where the fish were when I realized...I FORGOT MY FISH FINDER AT HOME!!! (It wasn't on my checklist but it is now.) My first thought was "Jordan's forgotten item of the week!" 🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣 I wasn't able to kokanee fish without my fish finder, especially because the lake is very low and guys WITH fish finders were still getting their downriggers hung up sometimes. I'm going to head back there this weekend for redemption!

There's a lake in N.Carolina ,I saw an article about a guy who caught a Kokanee there,it was near 5lbs!! I would im deep cold 🥶 lakes could support Kokanee!!
