🌄 Sri Lanka Adventure: Day 3 - Journey to Sigiriya & Village Tour 🌄
Welcome to Day 3 of our Sri Lanka adventure! Today, we’re leaving behind the comforts of Oreeka Resort and heading to the historic town of Sigiriya, ready for a day filled with cultural experiences and unforgettable moments.
After a delightful breakfast, we checked out of our resort, and right on time, our friendly driver, Mr. Rohan, arrived to take us on a scenic 150km journey to Sigiriya. Though the drive took around 4 hours, the real highlight of the day was our incredible Village Tour near Sigiriya.
This tour was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! We rode a traditional bullock cart, crossed a serene lake by boat, and were warmly welcomed into a village kitchen. There, a local lady prepared some mouthwatering, authentic Sri Lankan dishes using fresh ingredients like spices, vegetables, coconut, and fish. The warmth and hospitality we received made this an unforgettable part of our trip.
After checking in and refreshing at our hotel, we headed to the famous Dambulla Rock Temple. The temple’s stunning statues of Lord Buddha and peaceful cave atmosphere were truly mesmerizing. We ended the day with a serene sunset, soaking in the calm beauty of this spiritual site.
