  • In this video, I compare the Philips Norelco 9800 electric shaver with the Panasonic ARC 5 electric shaver. I had a surprising victor.

You used the Norelco way longer then the Panasonic. Could that be why it is closer? Most other reviews say the Panasonic gets a closer shave.

It could be, but are the other reviews comparing the Philips Norelco 9800? Because the Panasonic does get closer than the Philips Norelco 3900. My Panasonic ARC 5 probably needs new blades.

Question- The Norelco 9800 is over $200, what is the difference between the most expensive razor and say the Norelco 3900/3800 which costs around $75?

That is a great question. I just got the 3900 (2 days ago) and have not even opened it yet. I have used the 3800 occasionally over the past 3 years. The 9800 gets a significantly closer shave than the 3800. Plus, the 9800 has more power and many more cutting actions per minute. That means quicker shaving with less passes over your face; this reduces shave irritation. So, there really are differences in the shavers as you spend more money. You get a closer shave and less irritation. Right now, I think the Braun Series 9 Pro (around $300) is above all the rest, as is the price, but it really is noticeably better than the others. However, Philips Norelco has a new S9000 Prestige which looks promising. Thanks for the great question and the follow. I maybe should make a video about this topic.

At 58 second you can see the Arc5 blades are dirty before the shaving starts. For best performance, always clean your razor after a shave - regardless of brand.

@@MegaTjc123 Wow, how did I miss that. The shaver is pretty dirty

Great video! How would you compare their pop-up, precision trimmers?...Also, have you tried the Panasonic Arc 6? I'm curious if there's a discernible difference.

I have not tried the ARC 6....yet....I should get it sometime as I am curious about it as well. The precision trimmers...both are adequate...about the same size....I have never really done a direct comparison of the 2 trimmers. Thanks for the comment.

Hello, which is the best shaver among all brands? The price is not important, it needs to be cut as quickly and comfortably as possible.

Either the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige or the Braun Series 9 Pro
      Both are excellent

Is it possible you used the Panasonic more, so the blades are not as fresh as the Philips?

Your Norelco will last for about 1 1/2 to 2 years before it stops working.

They do recommend replacing blades about every 18 months.
