At the end of the day, the problem with these agencies is that they do not actually know what makes an application stand out to ICA. Nobody does. So that means they are only guessing like everyone else, and of course it's possible to make your guesses sound very well-reasoned and logical (as the lady in this video does). But the bottom line doesn't change - they are guessing as well. This doesn't change no matter how articulate they may be. It's a sweet deal for them because they don't have any success/failure standards to meet or be measured against i.e. there's no way to know if they've actually done a good job or not. They can always blame ICA or quota. So their claims are completely unfalsifiable.
I understand that because you have access to the track record of so many applications - you know what definitely doesn't work so if you get rejected a few times, it's natural that you go reach out for help. As long as you don't go for an agency that is selling you certitude - if so it's definitely a scam!
@NewtoSingapore it's still doubtful that they have information that is not already publicly available though. Because nobody even knows how many criteria there are, nor how those change over time. I wonder if these agencies can really give you any additional information that you could not find on an expat forum or group. The cynical side of me just thinks they're preying on foreigners willing to do anything to raise their chances, regardless of whether it's rational or not. But even if it's just for psychological comfort/assurance that "spending this few thousand dollars can make my application stronger," then perhaps some would be willing to spend it!
@@NewtoSingapore Actually the other commentator is quite right. ICA is so fking opague & their goal post keep changing. Hi Amandine, thanks for sharing tips on the PR applications. These supporting documentations, were are we supposed to send them? I also got fooled my the fact that you cannot supply them online. Should we mail them to ICA directly? Thanks.
That's the "know-how" of the agency so it's a secret that they are trying to keep 😅 If I have to apply one more time and want to submit the documents, i would try to put it in the section where they ask about your employer letter 🤷♀️
This was very helpful with lots of great advice. What would you say the price is to hire these consultants for a PR application for someone in your situation?
It depends on what you need - I think if I get rejected and want to apply again, I will at least get their services to review my documents (it’s a couple hundreds dollars) Then if there is a lot of work needed, to get their help from start to finish it’s from $2k+
My friend’s 2 daughters were given citizenship status but her son has been rejected repeatedly. I wonder why. It’s been very sad for them and the boy is totally willing to do NS… 😢
It can be really disheartening when there's no clear reason for the rejection. I hope they continue to stay strong and not lose hope. Perhaps seeking advice from a PR consultancy might help 😢🙏
The government is more willing to grant citizenships to women than to men, probably because... men tend to be less malleable and more commitment is required from male citizens. This is reflected more clearly in how foreign women who marry citizens can get citizenship in 2 years whereas for foreign men, being married to a citizen only helps in the available paths to citizenship but doesn't even open up a new path itself.
Hello, I advise you don’t focus on the success record - from my experience, agencies with high success record are faking it by shortlisting their candidate!
A journey of a thousand steps begin with you first step. Congratulations Amandine, you have begun your journey. Persevere and don't lose heart. You will get there in the end, if you persevere.
It would be great if someone from the ICA stumbled upon your blog. Singapore welcomes individuals like you, who possess a heart and passion that even some Singaporeans lack. One can sense your affection for living here through your videos.

Safety is indeed one of the factors people value here, but it’s not the only reason people choose to live in Singapore. For me, Singapore’s diverse culture and quality of life also play significant roles. As for the cost of living, it’s true that it can be high, especially when it comes to housing. However, I think it’s important to consider the overall package-like the strong healthcare system, reliable public transport, and the vibrant job market. Getting citizenship through marriage to a citizen is actually very different for males and females. Females who marry a citizen can take the special path that only requires living in singapore for 2 years to get citizenship whereas such a path doesn't even exist for men. For men, being married to a citizen is just a bonus they take into consideration when you apply through the usual ways.

Why do people even think like this? You’re taking your son’s freedom away so you can live in Singapore. As someone who was born a dual citizen, served in the mandatory military, got a chronic injury and then had to renounce citizenship of that country right after because they don’t allow dual nationality, it’s disgusting to see some people think about doing this so they can get a PR status.
