- This "Prayer for the Release of Souls from Purgatory", commonly known as the "Prayer of St Gertrude", is a prayer that was giving to St Gertrude the Great by Jesus in which He promised the release of 1,000 souls from Purgatory every time it is reverently prayed. The prayer is recited ten times for the release of 10,000 souls.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood
of Thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal church,
those in my own home

I prayed to God so many times to just let me die and end my suffering if I can never experience the fullness and joy of life since I am 27 suffering the last 7 years with nothing going for me except losing everything. Then I realized that God is having mercy and kindness towards me by not letting me die and giving me life because I would be added to the souls of purgatory. Thank you for showing me this prayer as my soul is concerned for those in purgatory because I realize I am no better and am among them.

@@TheCatholicCrusadeYep. I felt led in my heart with compassion and heaviness to pray this prayer earlier tonight. When I did, I never felt such heaviness, pain, suffering, sadness, grief, and other things before like I was taking on the burdens and suffering of those souls into my soul and spirit that I had to stop after 7 times because I was getting more dizzy and feeling off. It’s just hard to explain like I was communing with them.
Bless your heart! My mom always said we can do our purgatory here or there. What ever suffering is not for reparation of your sins may be for another if you but offer your suffering for the holy souls and poor souls. Don’t let your suffering go to waste my friend. You can be someone’s hero! I pray for your joy and peace and thank you for sharing such beautiful sentiments. We do not have control over God and the church does not endorse this prayer as guaranteeing the release of a certain number of souls. No prayer can do that. Praying for the holy souls is good but the message here is wrong and inconsistent with church teaching.

I pray this prayer always at 3 p.m. for the salvation of my loving and beloved son, Zenrick who died when he was 30 years old. We was at the prime of his life and profession. It hurts me so much. But what can I do? It's the divine will of Father Almighty. I pray for his salvation , hoping that soonn he will be seeing the beautiful face of God, and dwell with Him in eternal peace and bliss. I praise and thank You, Father Almighty for loving my son, Zenrick and all my dear ones departed.

The 14 year old girl's name is Victoria... She was a kid who's always smiling even if she has cancer.. She may be in purgatory, so please pray for her. Victoria died this year 2024 n my daughter is 14 years as well
