I built on my Jeep Wrangler JK the diffs with lockers 3 years ago. I think its easier than a dana 44. Now i can do it on my C6 also. Thanks for the very good video, greetings from Germany.
i came here to make a comment about the professionalism,,,,,and the claw hammer??? but i see other comments beat me to it,,,,,thanks for the video,,,you can be assured ill spread the word,,,,non of us will ever go there!!!
Great video man ! I'm about to pull the trans and diff out of my c6 z06 and build them in my garage. For sure gonna be hitting Jason up for all the parts !
Just have my C6 trans and Diff fully built with 3.90 gears for less than $4200. 3.90 gears are $1350. I will say for the diff itself is probably less than $1600
I did not see the torque procedure for pinion spanner nut. You bent down to pick up the air hose and it went directly to staking it. What is the torque spec for this?
C5 (automatic) owner here wanting to gear swap out my 3.14 for a 3.73. Anybody know of a shop a great as this one, but closer to home (Florida)? And why go with 3.90 instead of 3.73? Just curious, since I have a big decision to make. Pros/Cons of 3.9 instead of a 3.73 -- thank you!
After you guys removed .004 pinion depth i noticed the coast looked perfect but the drive still looked a bit off. Did you change of shims after the initial shim change before final assembly? Just curious. Thanks!
@@JacobVillemain gotcha. I dealt with Jason for advice and parts when i rebuilt my own t56 and rear diff and he is an awesome person/business to deal with. Honest and on top of his game. I refer people to him for parts/service.
Good eye! You're exactly right. The coast pattern was beautiful but the drive side was high. So, I had to move the pinion in closer, until it got better. I tried several different pinion depth settings, before I got it zeroed in where it needed to be. We ended up starting with a 1.6mm pinion shim, and ended up with a 1.2mm which is one of the thinnest pinion shims that I've ever had to use when setting these up. Normally, its more around 1.35-1.45.
changing pinion depth on a worn set is aligning teeth that are worn in to fit at another place,,,,at the new place, loads will be greatly increased where the wear edge meets the new wear surface and doesnt align. And if you arent careful, the engagement depth of the gear teeth clearance willl not be correct,,,,,careful measurements needed by a professional gear maker is needed here
Am I wrong in thinking this 3.90 swap would basically give you Z06 gearing 1-3 but closer, not having the huge 1-2 rpm drop, and have an even more useable 5th and 6th?
How’d you get water in the diff fluid? I still can’t figure that one out. I know the trans cooler lines go to the radiator but that diff doesn’t have a cooler… weird.
Hey I have an 04 gto that needs new piston rings I’ve been watching your videos and wanted to know what your shop is called and where I’d go to get a wuote
where was this 1.5 years ago when I did mine in my garage. Great video!!!
Claw hammer ? Maybe a soft blow or brass .. didnt see any torque wrench . Or torque spec's

Great video. He knew his diffs in and out.
knew his torque values in not owning a torque wrench and how well a 16oz claw hammer fits into a corvette repair,,,

I dont know....Jacob doesnt mess around. Have you seen his builds? If he put this in his car, you be confident its a good product.
Great video. I will be putting new clutches in my diff soon and this was very helpful.

Great video. I have heard so many good things about TDP. Can I asked what the service ran you?

I have a '98 C5 with the GU2 gears. If I want 3.42 or 3.73; do I have to buy the entire differential, or can i just buy the gears?

Bout 350
Just subscribed... very fascinating 👏 👌... thanks...
Did you put upgraded input shafts ? And now that we’re three years down the road what is your review on that.?

Jason was able to dial in both coast and drive after shimming it around. I have a few hundred hard miles on the gear set now and it’s totally silent

Hi, can I use C5 diff case with C6 internal parts on my 05 corvette (C6)?

How do you remove the vent can you tell me please
One question so I have a c6 diff with 2.56 I want 342 can he do that or I have to swap the whole diff auto vette
When I give gas over 50 to 80 the entire end shakes. What you think it be. The diff or tube bad?
If it's shaking like that it definitely sounds like your torque tube

I pressure washed the differential case before taking it to him
The water was emulsified in oil. That's not from pressure washing, imo
Thank for the Nice vidéo !! Do you know if i can upgrade a 2.73 to a 3.73 ?
You'll need a thick gear. But yes, you can do that.
Basic Detail. Did you get this done? I also have the same project that I want to do.
@@josels1292 nope i Never get the answer
Do you know of any company that re-laps crown and pinions? I have a set that we cannot get quiet. Patterns are perfect yet they whine and howl.
if they make noise, there is a reason,,,,they dont fit,,,,,,someone has sold you a lemon,,,,,fitting gears dont howl,,,,

You can message me on Instagram.
Which Motive 3:90 set did you get? They have two versions
I am not sure, TX Drivetrain Performance provided the parts.
it is better that I leave this to the professionals I thought to do it but no more 😰
Using a rusty old claw hammer to seperate the case does not inspire confidence boys, do better.
Can you make T 56 to a 1967 Corvair? Diff
