sounds so cool - on the last chord at 2:27(highest d-6)of your first chord run it sounds like you said 12-14-12-14( for the highest string) but I can see its 13th fret (f) I'm sure everyone can hear the diff but just in case its 12-14-12-13
Yo, brother! I just stumbled onto this channel via the Jazz Guitar Online forum! I watched two lessons where only your instrument and hands were visable and didn’t really pay much attention to your voice. I even watched an episode with you seated in full view and still I didn’t recognize you until you made a familiar gesture; pretty sure it was the beard that threw me. Keep up this important work and I'm sure Skype lessons will be n the future for me. Dave Hoey
Hi Chris Big fan of what your doing here If you have time, wondering if Barry ever used Lydian dominant scales when soloing/ or talked about it, seems like “the dominant “ is usually myxodelian, but when he chords with minor 6 diminished the dim voices carry the # 11, the other 2 dominant dim scales have natural 4
thanks a lot for these lessons, and you sound really good! I discover Barry Harris ... could we also play Db6 dim scale? (if we think of a Bbm7 on the Eb7 ...) and why not G6 dim scale (if we think of an Em7)? thank you again for all these very, very informative videos! Bruno
Hey great lesson!! I've been going through your videos and it puts the stuff I've been studying (Alan Kingstone's The Barry Harris Method for Guitar) into perspective. Just wondering if you plan on doing any videos on borrowing diminished notes. Also would love to hear you're thoughts on chord melody. Thank you!
So at the beginning when you use the Bbmin6 scale of chords for the Eb7- is that a common sub that you use? Do you prefer it to the Eb7dim scale of chords? Thanks for making these videos! Loving Barry Harris. Have you thought about starting at Patreon? I would happily contribute.
Ok, so I found Episode 6 where you explain, you basically harmonizing the minor scale with the b6 note. I am going to have watch this video a couple of times to intellectually grasp this technique. One thing I dont understand is are you superimposing other chords of the scale onto one chord? For example, you play Dm6....are you playing other chords from the scale over the Dm6? Or are you just playing inversions of Dm6? It sounds like you are superimposing.
Love your content, but it would be great to hear you applying these concepts in context with a bass backing :)
Excellent Chris!
Thanks Pete

Thanks man. I just don't understand how you couple Diminished chords with Minor 6 chords.
