We now need a 2.5 PoE switch with 8 ports that is not Enterprise. A max version of the Ultra. I wouldn’t be surprised if they already have a warehouse full of them but just waiting to release it after everyone got the Ultra.
thanks for everything you do and share here - I have learned SO much about setting up my network - especially Synology - my question is, can I use this Flex mini to upgrade my iMac M1 to 2.5Gbe? Or what do you recommend as an adapter?
I wish they would make a fanless 8 port 10G switch 4 ports just is not enough. As well as a WiFi 7 AP or a new Amplifi Alien router with 10G ports. Ubiquiti please don't get rid of the Amplifi line of products they are amazing for simple home use.
I landed on this device searching for POE powered dumb switch. I just need a switch that doesn't need DC so I can put one of these on each floor to give ethernet to each room on each floor... does this work as a dumb non DHCP switch if my main router ISNT unifi?
A poe injector is the only option But I wouldnt use this as a wifi switch for a wifi7 If you are gonna load it with other stuff I will put my u7 to my cloud mac and use this to spread the 2.5gb love
I sooo wish that Synology would make an 8 or 16 port 2.5gb POE switch. So we can power cameras. Oh while at it power their Mesh devices with poe as well but that can be solved with an adapter…
I have Cat5 cabling all over the house, will getting a 2.5GbE switch (and USB-C 2.5G ethernet interfaces for my devices) give me any performance boost? - or will I need to replace the cabling with Cat6? -- also, I have a 1gbit cable modem from Virgin media, I assume that will be backwards compatible?
i’m in Australia and I would love to hire you, but I can’t afford it at the moment because I’m trying to learn. Also my family uses this Account. I’m going through breast cancer stuff. I’m trying to set things up for my children for the future, I’m looking to purchase a synology . I have some. old Unifi APs they were set up by someone but I don’t think it was done correctly. I’m just trying to understand as we’ve been taken for a ride over here. Thank you for all the knowledge you’re giving..
Why no POE passthrough? Ubiquiti is so annoying! The whole point of this switch is to use with the U7, which is POE and doesn't include a PSU/injector in the box. Ugh.
I have both omada and unifi in my network. I don't care if I have to use both. I care about my wallet 🤣. I get what I need and can afford and if I must run both controllers, so be it.
So stupid this gets 4 but they couldn't put at least 6 on the 16port pro max. The 16 port would be awesome but with only 4 ports 2.5 by the time you up link just two wifi 7 access point which is already limiting you only have two left...just not enough. 6 2.5 ports would have made it a lot more attractive. Not to mention the fact it's criminal Unifi hasnt gone all 2.5s on switches at this point for the price they want on switches.

I was on the fence of getting a no names one with similar price, good timing 😊
Aww man…I just bought a 1gb switch for my office. May need to return it for this one. I wanted 2.5gbe but all the ones I could find were $100 on up.
Can’t wait to get a couple of these

I picked up one of these little buddies. I’m patiently waiting for a 10 Gen Poe+ / Poe++ switch.
IGMP snooping would have been nice for the Flex minis, especially as a lot of these switches will end up in TV cabinets etc.

I need something like this compact but that also has passthrough POE power. Any recommendations?
Only thing missing is ability to mount it to wall or underside of desk
Nice video overview! How would you power the Wifi 7 Pro using this switch?
A poe injector is the only option
But I wouldnt use this as a wifi switch for a wifi7

@@muppstrom I was going to feed the Wifi 7 from a Gateway Max UXG and also feed from the UXG to use these switches for computers, tV etc

Cat 5E will suffice
Depends on the quality of cable
Some cat 5 handle 2.5gb but remeber the reciving unit need a 2.5gb card/connection

Please do a video on the install of ollama Ai
But no POE ports other than the single power one.
I did think that at first but what devices that rely on PoE are going to need 2.5GBe?

They shouldn’t have removed the back panel mounting slot the current flex mini has.
I just bought an Ampcom 8 port 2.5 Gbps + 1 port 10Gbps managed switch for $40. Luckily, we dont have tariffs for Chinese products here in my country.
lol you trust that on your network?
@ntnwwnet they're a known brand from Hong Kong. It's basically the same as the switches tested on STH.
@@pr0jectSkyneT hk = ccp
lmao no thanks
Link aggregation would have been nice, you could have connected a Synology with 2x1Gig and transport it via the 2.5Gig upstream.
its all sold out D: f..
Annnnnnnnd they're sold out.
Ubiquiti stock adequate units challenge: Impossible.
Those sold out fast

There's rumors that a Flex 2.5G switch is coming out soon that is both PoE powered and can also supply PoE to connected devices.
These alone are going to make me leave omada for ubi.
You cant touch managed 2.5gb omada for leas than $300 per switch.

This 2.5g stuff makes no sense if the ethernet ports and devices of said items cant do 2.5g….. no benifit otherwise
