    Good video, right level.of detail without wasting time.
    I am repowering a Dusky 25.5 Center console with these engines . I saw your comments on engine hours and zero issues.. What props, performance and fuel economy do you get ? Thanks

      I run Mercury Mirage 3 blade props . Cruise at roughly 30 mph @ 4000 rpm’s.
      2 MPG. Tops out in the mid 40’s

      Hello. This one might help. The impeller is probably the most difficult part of the 309 service.

    Excellent video, just what I was looking
    i noticed that you used a draining hose in the lower unit
    the engine has a hose in the upper unit. do you know the use for this upper hose?
    thank you

    • @CaptOrlandoMuniz
      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Nacho. I use a hose to help drain the oil from the engine into a bucket. The lower unit is drained directly into a container. A small pump and hose is used to fill the lower unit. Hope this helps!
      Thanks, Capt. O

      @@CaptOrlandoMuniz thank you for the answer
      i was referring to the water hose when the engine is running out of the water. i saw that you used it in the lower part and i was wondering what the entrance hose from the upper part was for
      once again, thanks for sharing your knowledge

    • @CaptOrlandoMuniz
      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok. The upper hose is for flushing without running the engine. If you’re running it the water needs to enter via the lower unit or the impeller will burn up.

    • @CaptOrlandoMuniz
      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I’ve always used it. Pretty sure it is what they recommend for these particular engines. Also, it is synthetic. Tight Lines, Capt. O

      Did you replace because it was time due to maintenance issues? Or did you replace just because. I guess I’m asking if you thought they had another 1,000 hours in them.

    That’s not a correct 100 service. But, I guess diyers do the way they want.

    • @CaptOrlandoMuniz
      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      😂😂😂 Sold my last set with 3000+ hours and they’re still running. I think I’ll keep doing it this way. (Even if it’s wrong)

    • @badkarma2202
      @badkarma2202 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CaptOrlandoMuniz never said it was wrong, just not correct. U have a dozen other things to do. Anodes ,compressions , fuel water separator, gas filter etc etc. I’m surprised a lot of engines are lasting as long with key points being missed. Over heating is a big one....because of salt build up in areas not checked by diyers. However, still a good job .

    • @CaptOrlandoMuniz
      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotcha. I put 100 hours on pretty quickly so I don’t always check or replace some of those things but they all get replaced as needed. Maybe I should have mentioned that. ✌️
