East meets West - VTEC diversions at Carlisle on 08-10-16

- This is a selection of VTEC diversions off the ECML on Saturday 8th October 2016 during a 5 hour spell.
Not my usual video subject but I figured if these HSTs are going to disappear off the ECML within the next year or so, I might as well
record them for posterity during their 40th anniversary year of operation.
Unfortunately I didn't manage to record any of the class 91 drags by 67029 although I did see it arrive as I stepped on my train home to Glasgow.
The only freight I managed was the faithful 4S43 with 68025 and 68023 at the helm, both new to me.
However I did manage an East Midlands pair of power cars, again new to me.
It was a lovely day for the trip but I found the sun facing south at the south end of the station quite tricky, tending to burn out the colours in some clips and fading them in other clips. I think
i shall have to revert to manual settings after having had some success with night time videos. Any advice as always would be very welcome!
I have to mention the Lads from Newcastle who provided a steady stream of hilarious banter which I thoroughly enjoyed.
They are as follows:
Connor, Sean, Caleb, Liam, Andrew, Thomas, Alex Metroman, Andrew and sorry if I've missed any of you! Also I can't forget the lovely Li-Ann Fagan and Bradley who came up from the south for the day, and VTEC driver Trudi who was very generous with the tones and waves on 1E13!

A very busy day with the Tyne Valley diverts Ken and the usual scheduled workings. Superbly captured by your Camcorder to bring us this very good production. I am glad you had a great day with a nice bunch of people. Most enjoyable viewing.

Thanks for watching and for your kind comments Allan. yea it was busy trying to vid them then post reports to Scotland-Rail and FB, but I did miss a couple and the one 67/91 drag I saw came too late for me to film! Never mind the Newcastle lads were great entertainment value, never a dull moment, although I did have to edit some bits as the language at times was a bit too colourful to publish - lol! Nevertheless they're a great bunch of lads and your friend Li-Ann came up from the south too - a lovely lass. We were treated to some nice tones and waves from VTEC driver, Trudi, a very pleasant lady too! The only folk missing were you and Ian, but plenty time for meeting up soon I hope! Best wishes. Ken

Memories from when I lived in the North West : Lancaster. Just wish I had a video back in the '60s at Castle Station, Preston and Carlisle....................enjoyable watching once again............see mine soon on a day at Gloucester with HSTs

This brings back memories of Virgin XC HSTs at Carlisle in pre-Voyager days.

Robert Masterman. I honestly don't know Bob, apart from using the external mic most of the time. I'm also looking at manual light settings to get round the burning out effect of the sun. Any ideas? Thanks for your encouraging comments. Best wishes. Ken
Ai+ is the best setting for capturing in most conditions Ken.....try it and see, it works for me!...Regards...Bob
