You integrate so well with Sri Lankan ppl. It's awesome to find a little pocket of Sri Lankans with African discendance since 14th century. They are so lovely, happy people and could see how happy they were to meet and greet you. Music is so great and similar to Afro music and dancing.

Amazing video,love you work. These guy were bought to SL from the east coast of Africa by the Portugese as slaves perhaps. A community that needs a lot of recognition. They sing in a sorta creole, but I can not understand what they are saying, but I hear a smattering of portugese and some sinhala words and unrecognizeable words. I hope this community will get more official recognition in SL. I believe the baila music of SL originated from this community. You can tell from the 6/8 rytham!. The mother was so genuinely happy to see you. Such a wholesome interaciton!

The legend has it that one great king who ruled the country during 1600s had a battalion of African soldiers who escaped from the European invaders. Those Africans were appointed as high ranking officers and were loved by the king. And they helped Sinhalese to fight off the invaders and earned the respect and love from the natives.
Few books written in these peoples and there Portuguese music. These songs called baila and kaffirinna.they came with Portuguese.

Fantastic! The Africans came with the Portuguese in the 16th century and settled down in Sri Lanka. I'm glad to see the tradition continues to this date.

I'm living in same district in chilaw. This african community is very peaceful and Innocent. Pleace somehow help them to develop their life 🙏🙏🙏

@@thia48 no the problem is sri lanka very poor country also lot of economic crisis During pandemic many part of sri lanka not develop
in sri lanka the people get discriminated is just uneducated people, if you educate yrself (gvmnt give 100% free education from grade 1 until you finish yr higher education in universities to all lankans ,also 100% free healthcare for every citizen too)so you just have to learn free and getting out of poverty ,
the problem is village people are not competitive in learning as the kids in cities and urban areas
many rural lankan parents let their kids to do anything they want
but in urban areas and cities parents dont let their kids stay without learn , make time schedules for them (basically control the kids as they want until they get succeeded)
