I am a professional 3D animator. Animating musicians accurately is by far one of the challenging tasks. Animation is illusion, not reality. It's also very time consuming and requires a lot of effort to re-create motion in a way that's not only believable but is also pleasing. playing an instrument is an exercise in human fine motor control. To recreate that with animation, accurately, frame by frame, is months of work per shot. I have had to do a shot where I was tasked to animate a in-game emote where the character plays a guitar, the pitch was for me to animate the noodling accurately. I did, and it was a challenge that I enjoyed, but, it took a long time and many many many many revisions.
true true, people rly need to chill. they dont think about this, people want correct finger animations even tho 90% of the audience of the show watching dont pay attention to that. it rly doesnt matter as long as it looks like someone is playing the instrument
I mean, for said animation(the one from the video) they had an accurate recording from multiple angles of real people playing it, so they just rotoscoped it. Still very hard, although certainly more doable.
Look into the behind the scenes for kids on the slope! I have a Dvd copy and Yoko Kanno cast a young piano player and drummer to be the reference point to all the music scenes for her arrangements. The young musicians played the parts that were used on the show and the animators had correct versions to animate to . One of my favorite animes and the attention to details don't go unnoticed.
