His Sargeant always referred to him as a nucklehead He couldn't have been Carmichael's replacement since he was wearing a PFC stripe he had just earned on "Gomer Pyle USMC. Another great show. It was a spin-off ofvThe Andy Griffith Show.

I love how Mr. Mooney is able to just walk onto a Marine base with no escort whatsoever. And notice Jim Nabors when he says his line, the audience is still reacting, so Lucy asks him to repeat what he just said since no one was able to hear it.
Notice she calls her son JIMMY Carmichael? His character name was always JERRY. At the time Lucy kept insisting to her writers that her son's name on the show was always JIMMY. Eventually the writers just gave up and let Lucy have her way, even though she was wrong. By the way, his real name was JIMMY GARRETT.

Just my observation, but I have a feeling that by the time Here’s Lucy ended, Lucy Carter was approaching 50, while Ball was actually approaching 63.
