I bought the 13pin from Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LYBW80O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It can also be purchased from here. www.trailertek.com/trailer-parts/towbar-socket-tester-13-pin-3-5m-cable?gclid=Cj0KCQiA0rSABhDlARIsAJtjfCdd4l6YwBzpKXbfzTHEnkMKA-6sRGCdNmI57stU7P4oBCmurGa1YuQaAil8EALw_wcB There are many other places that stock and sell it and the prices do vary a bit as well, Google it to see were you can get the best deal.
Hi David thanks for watching and commenting, it actually turned out to be in the tester itself, I had to send it back in the end and get another. James
Might invest in one of those James. 4m of cable would have been ideal. For the right tail light not working try spraying a little switch cleaner or WD40 into the socket then try it again. I say this because WD40 worked for a friend when the caravan fog light wouldn't light up. Take care. Rob
Hi Rob, Yes it is a very easy bit of kit to use, That extra 1/2 meter would help. I could try bringing it through the back which would probably work. Thanks for the Tip on WD40, I will give it a go. I am going to connect it up to the Caravan today just to check I get the same results as the tester. I suspect it might be a little more complicated to resolve. I had to have a turbo replaced on the Discovery 4 recently and the complete body has to come off the car for that to happen. So lots of plugs disconnected etc, I am wondering if one of them hasn’t been clipped back together properly. I will keep you guys updated on what I find. Take Care 2. James
This tester looks a lot better than the first one you tested. This is not surprising as it is supplied by Maypole who are a well respected manufacturer of towing lighting components. They must have changed their selling policy as when I have bought gear from them previously I have had to order it through a caravan dealer as they wouldn't sell direct to the public from their website. The only downside of this tester is its price.
The seven pin version that I haven't tried, but would imagine it works as well as the 13pin, with a little less information can be purchased from here www.towsure.com/towbar-n-type-wiring-tester?gclid=Cj0KCQiA0rSABhDlARIsAJtjfCezeSfMukF8B8H6DA-36zVx4s4ngz8Z2AAG9_0Np2DNrdlIeM3CAgsaAtSlEALw_wcB
