  • More than 400,000 people are still without power after a bomb cyclone rattled Seattle and other areas in the Northwest. Strong winds knocked trees onto roads and houses, and at least 11 crashes happened in Kings County after cars hit trees.

I live in Sacramento, Ca. No winds here, no downpours, just rain here and there in little spurts.

“Bomb cyclone?” We just had “bad winter storms” when I was a kid. Inventive language to spread fear and get attention.

@norbertrossi7925 meteorologists coined the term in the 1980's describing a large atmospheric pressure drop.

You Idiot, a Bomb Cylone is a rapidly developing area of Low Pressure that decreases 24 mbs in 24 Hours, you are just too Ignorant to know that. No, You are confused by the Science of Climate Chaos because you are really Uneducated and really Ignorant on the subject. If you don't understand the Science you may as well go home and j*** off again. You don't sound like you have the education, motivation or intelligence to understand Climate Chaos, so you may as well go along on your way in Blissful Ignorance and just not be interested in what 99.7% of Climate Scientists have to say, get it?

How about you guys skip the bomb and ad a category.... like others cyclones.

    • @bargdaffy1535

Because it is not a Tropical System, a Bomb Cylone is a rapidly developing area of Low Pressure that decreases 24 mbs in 24 Hour, it has no tropical inputs into it.

Would not have had clue, if not for BBC the next morning. That made sense of my daughter in Berlin asking about 'snowstorm being prepared?' Nice blue ski Wednesday morning. A former colleague in Germany sent the Facebook picture, and my tenant on Oahu inquired about my safety. Oh, my property manager in Whistler said some of her friends in Vancouver B.C. were without power. I do not watch television and certainly not FOX.

I know not everyone from Kentucky is a klansmen, just as you should know not everyone from the west coast is a blue haired mental patient. The eastern half of Washington state is as conservative as Alabama and has been wanting to secede from the western half of the state/Seattle region for decades

For those fixated on the phrase, I'll say it again as noted by those below, the meteorological term has been around since the 80's. It's not new. It's a lot faster to say in a 24 hour news cycle world than describing exactly what it means every single damn time. No one is trying to scare you. GROW UP.
