Between that lovely, somewhat dense bread and the pumpkin cheesy pasta, I think it's some great ways to use the pumpkins you planted. I was thinking that the pumpkin puree, being thinner than store-bought made sense because it is more like canned applesauce or apple butter even if it is not as acidic (which is why pressure canning - lol). Seeing the smallest and newest member of the herd showing off his springs was one of my favorite moments, along with the little dance Stormy did when you put your hand on her udder! I feel like it's a "your kitchen, your rules" kind of thing but not to be shared as an approved safe method. I like seeing some alternative recipes and use my own judgement about using them or not. Thank you. OH yum! Good call on the ham with that pasta dish. Sounds delicious!!
I caramelized some onions and added in diced ham and reheated the pasta on the stove with a little more milk and umami mushroom seasoning. It was AMAZING the second day!!
Glad to hear that your Mum made it ok through the storm, & I hope everyone else is doing well too. I still have a pumpkin left from last year that we bought from one of our local farmers. I''m hoping they do the same this year too, but we just had our first frost this morning, although it was no where near forecast! Great seeing that Gollum has his boing mode activated 🤣

Love alllll the things shared, Heather! Haha. Pumpkin is definitely very versatile, thank you for sharing recipes. Your early morning was quite lovely with the fog, and I'm sure Levi enjoyed the fresh warm bread. I also love the Bustelo! (Used to drink the instant but only if I got it on sale.) Hahaha, it stands up well to tons of cream and sugar/sweetener. Hoping the rabbits all kindled nicely, can't wait to see their babies too. I most definitely did the rebel canning with Ruthann Zimmerman. I make homemade dog food for my dogs and it calls for fresh pumpkin purée. I always heat it up really well before using it in the food. It’s so beneficial to them. Thank you for sharing you farm with us.
Thank you so much for giving credit to the Zimmerman family for the canning recipe. I found their video and will be trying it with my cushaws. I grew 2 plants as a test run and have 4 huge squashes equalling over 100#... I had no idea how I was going to preserve it all, lol.
I made pumpkin soup with one of mine and it was so good with a grilled cheese! I can’t remember the name but it was the dark green that looks like they have warts all over. Can’t wait to use more! Your pasta looked so delicious! The boys sure are happy!😅
Heather If you have a hospital nearby, contact their warehouse or maintenance department about pallets. A lot of hospitals give pallets away because they get them daily.
In the past I've not been a big pumpkin person but I do like really dark orange winter squash. I was given /rescued some heirloom pumpkins because they were getting moldy. Some were still intact with no mold showing and one looked like a huge white pattypan. I was going to feed it to the goats but it smelled really good when I cut it open so instead I saved the seeds and I cooked the flesh- that was about the time you had made a squash / pumpkin soup and I wanted to try that but it's still been too hot to make soup so it's in the freezer waiting for colder weather. Your pumpkin patch looked amazing. I know that what we call squash and pumpkins are all related and botanically some of what we call pumpkins are actually squash and vice versa but I think they are pretty interchangable in most uses. I have a lot of pumpkin seeds saved from a few years ago from clearance heirloom pumpkins from the grocery. I grew some out this year and it looks like they are turning pinkish but they aren't ready yet. I'm sure if they all grew together the different kinds cross pollinated so will be fun to grow out more next year and see what I get. Always fun to watch your videos and see what you are up to. Saving my pennies to buy an electric pressure canner! I just don't have time to hang around in the kitchen that long these days.
Not finished with the video yet. Just heard you say your mom is in the Tampa Bay area. My 94 yr old dad and 85 yr old mom and 2 sisters and assorted neices and nephews are in the same area.
