Since the World Cup so many veteran players have retired, on top of the issues Wales have been having. I don't know why Gatland offered his resignation because of this as his hands were tied, a lot of the players out there this six nations are very inexperienced and haven't played together much. We will get better with time, but SA will destroy us if we don't get better quick.

Ugo Monye fairly tore into Wales and Scotland on the bbc podcast when they were rating the teams. He has a point. Football will overtake rugby in Wales if things dont change..
As for Scotland, is the hype finally gonna stop now? I mean 3 losses..and there were some ex scotland players talking beforehand about a GS decider in Dublin!
Yes we know Finn is a "character" and Van Der Merves a machine. Its just not enuf.

I think offering to resign when you've lost every game is just good manners. We're not used to seeing people be so honourable.

Wales should bin the 25 cap rule, take advantage of big clubs wanting to sign their players. This would allow other players to come through whilst your best players are also playing but at other clubs instead of the regional clubs

Literally taking a page out of South Africa's book and I totally agree 👍

Wales need to scrap the 25 cap rule straight away. We only have a small pool of players to choose from anyway and to impose this makes it even harder for Gatland

Excellent back row but no grunt in the tight five is costing them dearly. Jenkins is a Beirne / Chessum / Itoje type of lock and needs a beefier second row partner like McCarthy or Martin and a solid front row. Backline is decent as well, just need to some how find some bulk upfront.

A LOT of humble pie needs to be swallowed re: the 25 Cap Rule. I'm happy to go first: I thought it was a good move, I supported it, I was wrong. You see? Easy! The case for was very strong but events have caught up with us. Whatever the merits of a caps rule - and they still exist - Wales simply can't afford one. Anyone whose grandmother once smiled at a boy in Carmarthen should be eligible to play for Wales, let alone a player with 24 Wales caps... I'm not sure there's too much despondency here, although the positivity drained away after the France game. Everyone told us we'd get the wooden spoon, we thought we'd probably get the wooden spoon, we got the wooden spoon. Oh well. When you go into an elite international with a player who has never started a game of fully professional rugby at any level (not a joke, that happened) then you can't really claim that winning was ever a part of the plan. The only profit gained - and in honestly probably the only one sought - is that a bunch of promising raw kids are now 5-cap internationals, which just might mean something tangible sooner rather than later. Maybe.

Pretty sure the South Africa game is outside of the international window so will really depend who is even available

I do agree with what you say. it’s size we need we were punished by the French bench in the last quarter of the game.

Yeah I don't think Wales is at the start of many years of low performance like France in 2013-2018. I would not be surprised if they deliver some good games this summer and have a pretty good 6 nations next year.

Put simply, until Wales have 4 props of international standard, they will struggle against those teams who have. . .

Thw props were good against scotland and England. But your right those 2 teams have weak props

Overall, Gatland isn't rated as a coach in NZ.
His provincial and Super rugby results are pretty average.

The biggest issue I see for Wales is the lack of ability in getting over the gainline. The absence of Mason Grady and Will Rowlands from the starting line up was surprising with this in mind. There does not appear to be many options who were missing though. Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake have that potential but, until there is a degree of threat elsewhere, opposition temas will focus on closing the outside space because that appears to be the only area where Wales can score against teams.

I agree and it's entries into the 22 half the time wales can't finish when there 5 yards out

A lot of players out there that could play first wales if it was not first the 25 cap rule

anybody who lives and watches rugby in wales... premiership down... knows that rugby is not dying in wales... we are just struggling at the very elite level... that will not be forever... its too intrenched in our culture !!!! go round any park on the weekend there is rugby being played and its watchable and the basic skills are still very high.... Gatland offered his resignation as a symbol of respect... we get it !!! and... yes scrap the 25 cap rule... pointless and people will leave for higher wages regardless... its a business and people have families to feed !

As an Irish fan, Wales do lack that physicality in the pack. The traditional bulk to get over the gainline.

Gatland should not just offer his resignation knowing they would not accept it , he should just go not the right coach not the right back room staff either

Wales have great rugby footballers always. They lack experience and forward power. Especially, props and locks. The law changes may benefit them.

Teddy Williams and Will Rowlands is our best second row for me. Teddy Williams was good in his cameo against Scotland and looks to be a far better ball carrier than Beard who for me should be dropped to the bench and come on in the last 20 minutes to reinforce the lineout

Joe Haskins centre with Owen Watkins, Jac Morgan back in the squad toby back at 8, scrap the crap 10s we have! Get Sheedy and Jarrad Evans as the 10s duos!! Give mason grady a full game and not 5-10 minutes. Costello is the worst 10 I’ve ever seen and ioan is just as terrible

Everything Gatland has attempted since parting with Shaun Edwards has been a disaster... And what did Wales excel at during their grand slam years? Defence & fitness. The bits Shaun Edwards was in charge of!
The Lions sucked. The Chiefs sucked. Wales suck. He can't do it without Edwards.

Agree with it apart from against Argentina Morgan and reffel didn't work so well so I'd instead go with the back row he had against Australia at world cup. Also I'd swap winnet for Liam Williams and for me my 3 fly halves for the summer would be anscombe, sheedy and Ioan Lloyd and sheedy would be on bench with anscombe starting
