Don’t know why, but in the last week I started getting recommendations for Harry Anderson and I’ve been binge watching all his stuff. Forgot how great he was!
Thanks for the collection. Harry was/is just thoroughly entertaining to watch. He represents a different time and a very good time. Success does change people, and you can see it in both Dave and Harry. I don’t mean inflated egos so much as dealing with the sometimes ruthless demands of reaching a pinnacle of show business. Both good men we owe a lot too.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! It broke my heart when I read earlier that Harry had died. It made me sad to think another part of my childhood had literally died. I cherish "Night Court" and now I will cherish this collection. Thanks Donz for reals. By the way, 65 just doesn't seem old anymore! : )
So very sad to hear of Harry's passing. He was a real talent - a great comedian, wonderful magician, and well loved by his many fans. A one of a kind guy, and will be missed. Rest in Peace Harry. Thank You for all the laughs.
Don. You are a prince among men. Thank you for your catalog and sharing. I will enjoy watching this. Loved night court even tho I was 10 when it premiered. Harry was a funny guy and looking forward to he and Dave having a laugh.
I remember as a kid watching a show on HBO or Showtime where Harry did a geek trick by pushing a needle through his arm and having a lady pull it out. She only pulled it out half way so Harry told her try again and pushed the needle back in. I will never forget watching that as a young boy thinking that was the coolest trick ever. Harry was underrated and under appreciated but I will never forget that man.
I was about 5 to 10 years old, but I remember when Harry Anderson was on TV for Night Court for reruns or a special of somekind, we would watch it. Commanding attention in this day and age is extremely hard but I think Harry could have done it.
Unbelievable. I was just going to leave a comment with the news of his passing since it was just 4 hours ago to alert of you if this in the off chance you'd have a Letterman appearance of him, and wow ... Here it is, posted minutes after he died. You are remarkable and as always thank you for all that you do. The Associated Press of timely yet vintage Letterman material.
he's so unique and easy-going. I adored Harry, so nice, such a good and kind man. there was something so Capra-esque about him that was so pure....He,ll never be forgotten
I kinda love that Harry started out hustling and then later used his talents to become an entertainer. And playing a judge no less! Rather inspiring story actually. ;D
Thanks for posting this. I remember watching him palm the table on Letterman when it first aired and it stuck with me. So sad to read of his passing. Rest in peace, Harry.
I remember him as Ritchie from Stephen Kings IT. I was to young to remember him from anything else as i was born in 1980 in Scotland. Ive watched Night Court etc now and he was funny and talented. Very handsome also.x
Once again, great collection. Fan of hiis on Cheers, Night Court and whenever I could catch him on something - especially due to liking magic and illusions.
At 6:10, Harry says that if you tell someone how it's done, they'll be disillusioned. Like literally! Once you tell how the illusion works, you are now disillusioned
RIP, Harry. You are sorely missed. Hope you didn't embarrass St. Peter with a monty at the pearly gates too badly. My own little head canon is that Harry The Hat actually was Judge Harry Stone indulging his darker, hustling busker side now and again in Boston, far away from where anyone would recognize him. 😎
Dave called out that there was a 2, but Harry didn’t hear him so he didn’t correct him and the audience never really saw the red cards, so they took Dave’s word for it Getting that 2 to switch to a 3 is what really blew Dave’s mind.
I've always thought that Harry was better in his role in Night Court, than his standup schtick. I wish that he'd been given chances afterwards. He would have been magnificent!!!!
He had a chance. He was on Dave's World, the show based on Dave Barry's articles. Then he retired to open up his magic theater in New Odleans and later NC. He could have gone back to acting but he loved doing his live show.
"A lot of folks are disappointed I went straight," he says. Yeah, I wasn't always crazy about the "Night Court" scripts calling for Harry to occasionally get serious either. Harry did okay, but he just wasn't a dramatic actor. He was best (brilliant even) when he was playing "Harry The Hat," which was pretty much who he was. A clever, slightly smug (which was intentional) but always likeable entertainer/raconteur.
You can obviously see the cash under the pieces of paper then he quickly puts the top bill on the bottom to hide the paper. The cameraman made Harry look like a dime store magician. He was actually quite talented.
Anyone shocked by starting the interview that way lol sounds like harold t stones background. I gotta watch s1 of night court cuz I'm sure he mentions somethings similar...
Never missed an episode. I could swear that Mr Anderson passed much longer than only 3 years ago, but time is an odd thing when you get to your 60s. Anywho, i am pretty sure Dave named his son Harry after this comedy legend. But i have been wrong before.😎💋
Harry used to run con jobs here in Austin. He palled aroung with Turk Pipkin, a mime. Trust me here, I've seen Turk. He's awesome. The two would have been amazing to see together. They both did street work. Once, Turk decided to entertain the line I was in for some show at the Paramount. You ain't been entertained until a world class mime does it right in front of you. I mean RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!! For quarters, for pittance. Don't really get that experiance much anymore. Robin Williams started as a street mime in NYC.
One of my first memory's of seeing Harry, He stuck a thick needle through his hand. In hind sight, I'm sure it was an allusion, but at the time I thought it was real.
The number prediction trick is fairly obvious. Note that when Harry takes his hat off a pencil can be seen (if you look close enough) in his hair on the right side of his head. The paper note card was positioned in his hat so that he could write on it with movements of his head. When Dave said “17”, he just made the appropriate moves of his head and wrote 17 on the card.
BTW 11:00 there were always two 3 of diamond cards and one ace of clubs. Dave was wrong. Not only him but many people in the audience. They just weren't paying attention. RIP Harry. Very sad. What a great entertainer and comedian.
Harry was a unique talent. We'll never see another goofy guy like him again. Rest in peace, Harry. You are loved and missed.
Goofy he got his jaw broken he was a bad ass.
That three-card display was masterful, he knew it and was showing off lol
Night Court was one of my all time faves. Watching these interviews, I never realized how happy go lucky Harry Anderson seemed to be in life.
Don’t know why, but in the last week I started getting recommendations for Harry Anderson and I’ve been binge watching all his stuff. Forgot how great he was!

Harry Anderson was one of a kind. There will never be another like him. You left us way too soon, Harry.
Grew up watching him in the 90s. Funny, smart, handsome, and talented. I definitely miss him. ❤️
He was my favorite character on cheers
This is GOLD. REST IN PEACE MR. ANDERSON.
Thank you for the compilation, Don. Harry was always an interesting entertainer and great on Letterman.
"The more you watch the less you see" Always GOLD from Harry! RIP!!
So very sad to hear of Harry's passing. He was a real talent - a great comedian, wonderful magician, and well loved by his many fans. A one of a kind guy, and will be missed. Rest in Peace Harry. Thank You for all the laughs.
Over six years now. Thanks for the laughs Harry.
Don. You are a prince among men. Thank you for your catalog and sharing. I will enjoy watching this. Loved night court even tho I was 10 when it premiered. Harry was a funny guy and looking forward to he and Dave having a laugh.
Night Court would go on for nine seasons after this.
Harry was one heck of a guy and comedian. Miss you Harry!
Happy Birthday Harry.
Thank you for entertaining us.
Rest easy.
Harry inspired many comic/magicians like The Amazing Johnathan. He is a national treasure and will be missed. RIP Harry The Hat

Night Court still has the best intro theme music in TV history.
Night Court is still the best comedy series ever... No, we have the lame SNL and Alec Baldwin.
That and Barney Miller...
Night Court and late night (when it was on NBC)such great staples of the 80s
I NEVER MISSED NIGHT COURT.. R.I.P. Judge Stone.. WAY WAY TOO YOUNG
I was about 5 to 10 years old, but I remember when Harry Anderson was on TV for Night Court for reruns or a special of somekind, we would watch it. Commanding attention in this day and age is extremely hard but I think Harry could have done it.
He has such an interesting back story. Such a fun character.
Unbelievable. Radical AM Thank Dutton who clued me in to the sad news and suggested the compilation. I would not have known so early otherwise.
That will be a fifty dollar fine and time served
"The more you watch...the less you see."

RIP Harry, you were truly a classic and funny guy.
he's so unique and easy-going. I adored Harry, so nice, such a good and kind man. there was something so Capra-esque about him that was so pure....He,ll never be forgotten
Night Court was appointment TV. Funny stuff! See you on the flip side, Harry!
I kinda love that Harry started out hustling and then later used his talents to become an entertainer. And playing a judge no less! Rather inspiring story actually. ;D

Harry the Hat on Cheers. Funny guy.
Loved Night Court.
So proud he was born in my hometown, Newport RI, looking into having a mural made.
Has any other guest entertained, baffled & intrigued Dave Letterman as much as Harry Anderson?!?
I can't believe isn't among the living anymore? Magician con man comedian night court judge too
Big fan of Cheers and I didn't know this guy's history.
Harry appeared on Letterman in 1994 as well, promoting his sitcom, Dave's World.
i like this. Many possibilities!
great collection

Night Court fans now know we’ve been pronouncing “Reinhold Weege” wrong in our heads for 40 years.
Harry had such a natural, easy way about him. What a talent.
Thank you for posting this!
Yeah man .thanks for putting this together!!!
Harry the Hat! Rest in Peace.
Thanks Don.
Rip Harry. You were great.
That Michael Landon story was like proto-Norm McDonald
Yes that was an odd story, kept waiting for the punch line.
LOVED this guy - who didn't. That's why TV IT is amazing it's all tv/sitcom actors...the cream of the crop too.
Only got thru the first section, that card trick was CLEAN, I can't see how he did it, smooth
RIP dude. Thank you.
He Always Reminded Me of Dana Carvey... R.I.P Harry.
Dana Carvey reminded me of HIM.
Even if Harry came by before???
Harry.....In the words of Lulu....I could never miss you more than I do.......
Thanks for posting this Don!
Dave called out that there was a 2, but Harry didn’t hear him so he didn’t correct him and the audience never really saw the red cards, so they took Dave’s word for it Getting that 2 to switch to a 3 is what really blew Dave’s mind.
was always two 3 of diamonds. thinking a flim flam would use a deck of 52.
Loved him in Cheers and Nightcourt!
Cheers was great, but always loved Night Court better. Miss ya Harry.
Love you, Harry! Miss you so much ❤
RIP Harry. Did anyone else figure out the 3 card Monty trick? He had his own twist to it! SO GOOD!!!
Harry the hat, I found him when I was a kid, on Cheers.
Rest in peace Harry you were so good and funny
Such a gem!!! Someone i would love to have known 🤪
Always a fun guy to see. Will miss him.
Harry the hat was THE BEST ! RIP Harry.
Cheers, Night Court, L.A. Law. Best night of T.V. ever.
IT
Ricky Jay and Harry Anderson the kings of slight of hand
I love it wen the guest has more control on the interview than letterman
Loved Harry Anderson. Amazing!
I've always thought that Harry was better in his role in Night Court, than his standup schtick. I wish that he'd been given chances afterwards. He would have been magnificent!!!!

"HARRY THE HAT" YOU DID A CLEAN BLOW OFF! WE WILL MISS YOU "JOLIET JACK", "PATTI PITTY", THE GRAND CHILDREN OF "THE YELLOW KID"
Harry was a good guy....and he could rook you out of your bread before you blinked. He used his powers for good like a true super hero
"A lot of folks are disappointed I went straight," he says.

I was just wild about Harry!
Met Harry at a magic convention.Didn’t realize how tall he was.
Thank you, Don Giller.
1982 Letterman classic..great stuff
Nah, Dave didn't really hit his stride until the mid-late 80's.
Confound your friends and baffle your enemies.
You can obviously see the cash under the pieces of paper then he quickly puts the top bill on the bottom to hide the paper. The cameraman made Harry look like a dime store magician. He was actually quite talented.

He'd have been 66 today.
Call the wake and kid the neighbors..
I know Letterman loves magic and magicians are very thankful for him to promote the art- but man is he a difficult spectator!
I luv this guy
Never missed an episode. I could swear that Mr Anderson passed much longer than only 3 years ago, but time is an odd thing when you get to your 60s. Anywho, i am pretty sure Dave named his son Harry after this comedy legend. But i have been wrong before.😎💋
Dave’s son was named after his dad, Harry.
@@dongiller …exactly! I kid, usually because i have no other defense for being WRONG. Thank you for correcting me, Mr Giller.
Everyone loves an honest hustler.

Awwww... I thought we were going to get the night court clip.
As I explained in the description beneath the video, I edited the clip out due to copyright caution.
One of my first memory's of seeing Harry,
He stuck a thick needle through his hand. In hind sight, I'm sure it was an allusion, but at the time I thought it was real.
Hocus Pocus, fish bones choke us

How did he write it with his head?
Harry is the guy in Stephen Kings It.
BTW 11:00 there were always two 3 of diamond cards and one ace of clubs. Dave was wrong. Not only him but many people in the audience. They just weren't paying attention.
RIP Harry. Very sad. What a great entertainer and comedian.
